Marian Hill’s oft brass infused alt R&B and jittery electronica is always an ear tickling treat. The Philadelphia duo recently put out their excellent sophomore album Unusual, and we now get to visit its latest single Wish You Would, a restless fidgeting gem, via its video. The pair challenges gender roles in the subversive visual accompaniment for the glitchy teasing, whimsical flickering track. Marian Hill delivers an important message with their video: “the notion that ‘sex sells’ almost exclusively revolves around a woman being the frontman.” If you missed out on their new album Unusual, you can get it, here. Though they recently toured to San Francisco for the album, they’ll be returning to the Bay in late September when they appear at p1440, a new volleyball, music, and wellness festival in San Jose created by three-time Olympic gold medalist/one-time Olympic bronze medalist Kerri Walsh Jennings and her husband Casey Jennings.
