While painting this, I was convinced it didn’t look as nice as it should have been. I wasn’t born with the talent, I don’t have experience, I suck at it in general.

My painting buddies kept telling me it was coming together and looking great but I just couldn’t see it. They eventually asked me to step away from the table to look at my artwork.

Only when I stepped back was I able to appreciate the big picture. It was colorful and imperfect but somehow it was beautiful.

Too many times, I buried myself in places I thought I needed my attention. I spent so much time trying to fix something that may not have needed much effort. Too many times I found myself stressing over minor setbacks that I failed to appreciate how my colorful and wonderful my life is as a whole. I need to learn to go with the flow again. I need to relax and just enjoy the unpredictable waves of life.

Thank you, friends. I learned more than just painting that night.
