My buns hurt todaaaaaayyyyy uuuuuugh
It ain't CrossFit, but it still counts. 3 mile walk (not allowed to run) with a 45lb pack. Must finish in 45 minutes or less. The walk was on Red Feather Lakes Rd. We got dropped off 3 miles west of the station, and wrapped up at the station. It kicked my ass. I brought my arm band and my iPod and just listened to music the whole time. On the plus side, I discovered that Where Them Girls At by David Guetta is a perfect beat to walk to for the test. We wore backpacks or weighted vests. The backpacks had water bottles or Gatorade bottles in them for weight. I got my assistant chiefs pack. I finished in 44:37. There were 5 of us doing the pack test, and we all finished between 40:something and my time. Afterwards we did shelter deployment training.
Out of the question
But I will answer away. Like the clash asked, "should I go or should I stay?" I have hours before a decision becomes an ultimatum inside. My body, my feet already worn because of wet shoes. I have blisters and muscles sore. My ankle weak and knees disheartened from my run yesterday. And on top of that... 45 pounds added to my back. Can I walk even in my own shoes? If I would go I know I won't pass. I can tell you as a fact, however, it would not be a waste. I would feel accomplished in the face of failure because I did not do it for the program or the people-- I did it for my self, and that is self respect. At the cost of an ego. The drug test went smoothly. The cup was neither half empty nor half full but completely full and then some (TMI). The shots where a different story: I had the tetanus shot first and that was well received in the shoulder, a standing ovation from an otherwise mum crowd. The second part was worse. She cleansed a large section of my forearm. I winced in anticipation and cupped my inner elbow because the thought of a need there disgusts me to the point of violence. But, her sweet voice sang to me " it's not near there... no need to worry." Tears almost started crawling off my face in relief. A little jab and small reaction later I had received my tuberculosis shot. I survived. A long victory nap was in agenda for me.
The pack test completed

picked up a 50 lb sand bag, and duct taped it up to prevent leaks
gotta use it to practice the pack test for LA fire department's crew 3, not too worried about not passing, just gotta practice.
BTW for those who dont know what a pack test is, its like a simulation of wearing your gear.
so you wear a 45 lb pack and walk 3 miles, have to complete under 45 minutes. the hard part is not running i hear from close friends who've done it, doing 50 instead of 45 for a little breathing room
will probly be walking around town with it for practice
