one of the funniest side effects of chimney being captain instead of bobby is how buck went from being the firehouse captain's nepo baby to the firehouse captain's dancing monkey. anyone else does something stupid now buck is guaranteed to catch a stray on account of being the captain's annoying little brother
What is even funnier to me is that when Buck actually came to Chimney with a problem that was 100% a fireable offense, he kind of refused to fire him.
They really are brother coded and they have been even before Maddie came back and snatched Chimney up. Lol
No One Loves Like Eddie
One of my favorite things about Eddia Diaz as a character, is how he loves people quietly.
What I mean by that is that it's not this bold, outward exclamation of "I LOVE YOU". It's subtle. It's action more than words. Especially, with Buck.
Sometimes, only with Buck.
When Buck quit the firehouse because Bobby struggled letting him back to work, Eddie heard Bobby say that they were all Buck really had, and he went right over there with his kid and showed Buck that despite not being a firefighter, he was still needed, he was still wanted, that he was still a part of his life/family.
When Buck was upset about his parents being in town and feeling like he had to apologize for his behavior and Eddie told him that his feelings matter. That he has a right to be angry and upset about the way he grew up, and that he has a right to verbalize how they make him feel. He supported him instead of telling him to just deal with it.
When Buck felt guilty for not being able to protect Eddie from the snipper and wished it was him instead of Eddie, Eddie realized that what Buck was really saying was that he wasn't needed, that life would be better without him instead of Eddie because of Christopher. So Eddie showed him that he was just as important by giving him Christopher in his will. By giving him something to live for.
When Buck was recovering from the lightning strike, his death, and a coma, everyone was hovering, except Eddie. Because Eddie knew but would come when he was ready. And when he did, Eddie let him come in, find comfort, and get the rest he needed. Let him talk about how he was feeling, and just let him feel it.
When Buck finally got back to work, but wasn't quite feeling like himself, felt too different, like the old Buck was gone, Eddie took him on a date to play poker, to show him that different can be good. That even if he were different, it's ok. Cause Eddie will love that part of him too.
When Buck got tangled up with the Tommy of it all, and told him he was bisexual, Eddie told him that it doesn't change anything between them. Eddie basically said "it doesn't matter. You're still Buck to me, I still love you like I always did before."
When Eddie left to be with his son in Texas and called Buck almost every day, making sure that he was maintaining that contact, that he was making it obvious that he would always be available for Buck even if they weren't in the same state. That he hadn't abandoned him.
When Eddie got on a plane and came home for Bobby's funeral and stayed with Buck for a few weeks after just to make sure he was ok and that he wasn't going to spiral.
When they fought in the kitchen and he felt guilty and needed to remind Buck that this doesn't mean he doesn't still love him and brought Christopher home so they could all grieve together.
When he skipped going to the airport, to go help them at the building collapse to be sure Buck made it out even though he didn't work for the 118 anymore.
When he let Buck drag him out to the club, even though women are the last thing on his mind that moment because he knew Buck was only trying to be a good friend and help.
When he agreed to do the firefighter games with Buck because it was the last thing Bobby did for them and he missed Bobby and knew Buck missed him too, and would want to do this one thing for him and hopefully make him proud.
When he decided to joy ride back to LA from Tennessee, because he knew it would give them more time to just be Buck and Eddie.
When he woke up in the hospital, after the crash, and dragged his broken body across a random New Mexico town to find Buck. And held a gun to a woman's head until they gave Buck back.
When everyone dropped everything to be with Buck during his addiction and withdrawal battle, he hovered the most, not because he didn't trust Buck, but because he felt like he let him down and he wanted him to know that he was always going to have his back.
Everyone talks about how Buck and Eddie never say "I love you" and how weird it is, because best friends would have said it by now, and said it often.
But Eddie has been telling Buck he loves him constantly from the very beginning.
And this is the part of Eddie Diaz's character that I feel like the writer's never really miss on. It's one of the most consistent themes they have for him and its possibly my favorite thing about him as a character as a whole.
What Convinced Me Eddie Was In Love With Buck
Out of all the questionably, not very straight things Eddie has done during his 8 years in the fire fam. There is only one thing that truly convinces me that Eddie is head over heels in love with his best friend.
I feel a lot of the other stuff can be seen from a different side and explained away reasonably. Like hating on Buck's love interests or putting Buck in his will to take Christopher. Those could have pretty platonic reasoning behind them, even if those reasonings weren't necessarily logical.
The one thing that's happened, that I feel like can't be walked-back, is Eddie knowing down to the second how long Buck's heart stopped. You don't just count the minutes and seconds that your best friend stops breathing.
This man counted from the moment he flew up the ladder, from the moment he rushed back down it, from the second he got behind the wheel and drove as fast as he could to the hospital, when he rushed to take over compressions from Chimney, while he pressed his fingers to his neck and prayed for a heartbeat and finally got one.
Eddie climbed a ladder in full gear after being struck by the same bolt of electricity that stopped bucks heart, and he didn't stop praying, begging and counting until he felt that heart start beating again.
And that's what truly convinced me that Eddie was in love with Buck.
Everything else is just tasty icing on the cake.
this is too obscene 🧍♀️
The way I wasn't prepared for these pictures! This man showed up and showed out!
He needs to chill, fr.
I have a heart condition.
Good god, hes fine asf.
For those wondering why Eddie got stabbed instead of shot... and why that made sense...
It was your everyday run of the mill distraction.
As someone who has a little knowledge about mobs, and bratvas and the like - it was a strategic move.
He sat in that waiting area waiting on an in. When he saw Eddie separate himself from the group, he decided that was his in. He followed Eddie with the intent to wound him for a plan B if plan A didnt work. You always have to have a backup plan ready to trigger in these types of instances.
He figured, if he couldn't get in with the flowers gag, someone would find Eddie and they would all be distracted just long enough for him to sneak back to the ICU wing and finish off Athena.
If he'd of shot Eddie instead the noise would have drawn too much attention as seen when he shot that guy for getting in his way at the nurses station.
Shooting Eddie wouldnt have work for his plan. Thats why he stabbed him instead.
He was also super emotional about his dad being murdered, and perhaps he also wanted Eddie to suffer a little cause no doubt he was aware that Eddie was also working with Athena in some capacity to get his dad.
So, thats why he stabbed instead of shot him. And then Eddies bad luck with his Catholicism kicked in and homie got trapped in an elevator.
You know how I know those two idiots are in love with each other?
Cause Bucks love is selfish with Eddie. It always has been. He will always sacrifice himself for Eddie because he cant live in a world where he doesnt exist. We saw it in the burial, in the shooting, in the ambulance abduction, and in the road trip arcs.
Buck would rather die, then live in a world without Eddie.
Eddies love is also selfish when it comes to Buck cause nothing matters more than protecting him. We saw it from the start, and especially when Buck was in relationships. His love for Buck is so fierce that he would literally do anything he could to protect him. When he was petty about Bucks love interest, when he stood ten toes down with Buck about his parents, when he was the first one there in the warehouse fire, when he ran up the latter after the lightening strike, when he took Buck on that poker date to make him feel better, when he dragged his broken body across a town he'd never been in looking for Buck.
Eddie would die for the people he loves, but he would burn the world down for Buck.
AND THEY WROTE IT THAT WAY ON PURPOSE.
They were made to even each other out. To provide each other with the pieces that had been missing.
Eddie gives Buck something stable to stand on. He won't break against the weight of Bucks need to feel wanted.
Buck gives Eddie the chance to breath. He doesnt have to pretend he has it together. He doesnt have to fear any sense of judgements from Buck.
They accept each other for who they are.
Thats why theyre best friends, thats why theyre family, thats why theyre connected by the soul.
They are in love with each other.
Regardless of what they say on screen, Buddie has been cannon this whole time and thats why im not gonna stop watching this show because of "baiting" bullshit because this love story is beautiful and I dont need validation for what I can see and understand with my own eyes.
So im gonna continue to enjoy the show no matter what they say and do or dont.
If you need to stop watching for your own peace? Do it, but im not gonna feel bad about the fact that Im still gonna watch til the series finale airs.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.
eddie when he sees buck walk into the house wearing another fuckass striped white shirt
Oh, does he
The silent "fuck that beagle" is LOUD! 🤣🤣
Also, another thought, in the finale preview we see eddie bleeding out from a wound of some sort and we are assuming its the detective dickhole that shot Athena tying up loose ends..
..but what if its the couple from the one emergency where they had to cut her leg off? What if its the husband wanting revenge or something?
What if the whole detective going after "Everyone in his way" is a misdirect?
...that would also be kind of neat.
✌🏻😶💜
What if Buck decided he wanted Theo?
But the state was like "nah, bro. Youre a newly recovering addict?"
So hes all "i screwed everything up again! Like always" cause Buck is hella self deprecating sometimes and thats a trait he will never out grow.
And then Eddie like, "guess what? They think Im decent enough!" And Eddie surprises Buck with a "Ill take care of Theo the same way you always took care of Chris"
Wouldn't that be neat?
✌🏻😶💜
Had to jump back on the chaos bus for a minute.
No but for real. That auction and the way Buck was strutting had Eddie wanting to bid $8,003.
Watching the panel, had to gif this moment.
It might be time to start some rumors...

Yall have some good ones floating around out there. But imma have to show my age for a minute because Savage Garden "I Knew I Loved You" should be THE Buddie wedding song and I WILL DIE ON THAT HILL!!
First verse Buck.
Second verse Eddie.
And yall can fight me on it.
(Verbally, not physically cause Im old and ibuprofen dont work no more)
Chim: And that concludes our morning briefing, any questions?
*Harry raising his hand again*
Chim, sighing: Yes, Harry?
Harry: If I get shot, do I own the bullet? Like, is it mine? Can I keep it?
Chim: Why are you even thinking about that?!
Eddie: Technically if the bullet is still inside of you, you own it, but the doctors might hand it to the police once they take it out.
Buck: I think it depends on if it's part of the evidence of an open investigation or not.
Hen: Yeah the bullet that ruptured my kidney when I was a teenager was evidence for a case, so I didn't even get to see it once they removed it.
Eddie: I've been shot 4 times and sadly haven't kept any of those bullets.
Chim: This might be the last briefing ever. Dismissed!
Ha, Eddie winning the "getting shot" Olympics will always be wild to me. Like, bro! Stop being a magnet for bullets my guy!
