Dad's/Kamayan/Saisaki - The Ultimate Buffet
For our 14th monthsary, we decided to go out and eat at a buffet because we’ve wanted to try it for quite some time, and there was no better place to have an affordable and excellent buffet experience than at Dad’s. The buffet was divided into three parts: Kamayan, which served classic and native Filipino foods and dishes; Saisaki, which served authentic Japanese cuisine such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, etc.; and Dad’s, which is the part of the buffet that serves the restaurants specialties. We had to pay a little extra to be able to get from every buffet section, and we had gotten more than our money’s worth because of it. May, when she’s really hungry, eats way more than I do, so it wasn’t really a surprise when she went back to get food more than I did. But I couldn’t really blame her; the food was that good.
Personally, I didn’t really get to taste a lot of the food from the Kamayan section because I wasn’t really in the mood for Filipino food, but it doesn’t mean to say that I didn’t find it any good. The food was as Filipino as it gets, and there was a home cooked kind of vibe to it that we found enjoyable.
The Saisaki section had noodles, tempura, beef, fish, and chicken, and the sushi was freshly made by Japanese sushi chefs. The Dad’s section was the part I spent most of my time on. They had pastas that were cooked fresh right in front of you, and they even had roasted pork, beef and lamb. Naturally, we took advantage of the opportunity and got a ton of meat, especially the veal, since it was had to come by in an everyday situation.
We also spent a lot of time at the dessert table because we needed something sweet to balance out all the food we ate. They had 4 different flavors of ice cream, muffins, brownies, cream puffs, and éclairs, just to name a few, as well as a chocolate cake. May really enjoyed the desserts because she had a sweet tooth. Plus, she really loves crepes.
Overall, the buffet experience at Dad’s was nothing short of excellent. The service was great, the food was excellent, the ambience was pleasant, and halfway through our meal, a band serenaded the diners with wonderful music. So to anyone who wants to have a memorable buffet experience, Dad’s is the way to go. It also wouldn’t hurt to order a refillable glass of iced tea because it comes with a really cute stuffed animal pillow free of charge.
