writer culture is being invested in one project for a few days, forgetting about it then moving on to another equally as invigorating project that you will never ever finish without any semblance of self-discipline or time management. it's an endless loop of the sparks of creativity igniting and withering within the same breathe, until you learn to organize your thoughts, time and energy

my advice for the overwhelmed hyperactive goblin in all of us:

create small writing habits and stick to it

digest smaller amounts of writing advice in one sitting

pick one area of writing to improve in at a time

write about things that interest you

write small phrases that you think of or say aloud in conversation or to yourself

take note of books and lines from books or otherwise that tickle your fancy and inspire you

slowly build on your characters and settings, it's not a race

write in different environments

set a timer and write about an object and its uses

write about a subject you love

write about a subject you hate

not an extensive list but a stepping stone nonetheless. feel free to add some more advice in the comments or reblogs

one last thing, be gentle and compassionate with yourself. you're not a robot. and have fun. this is supposed to be fun :)

sometimes i really miss seeing older cars drive passed me

the streets have been lacking character for a while now with technologically advanced cars that look the same (and respond to your every need, like when you sneeze or accidentally shit your pants in traffic)

idk the aesthetic is pleasing. they were manual, mechanical and you had to physically figure out what the fuck was wrong with it

i'm not saying there aren't advantages to the advancements we have now. some are great but some are kinda ridiculous and frankly scary

you're telling me that i can't unlock my car mechanically anymore.. only electronically... what happens if i get stuck in that car when it's out of juice... (to be fair i dont know what safety features are put in place for this type of situation. i just dont like the thought of it and it makes me feel very apprehensive)

you're telling me that it's illegal to text and drive but we can have this giant ipad display screen to interact with the car's systems!?! that doesn't make sense

plus the more computer heavy it becomes, the easier it is for someone to hack into more than one system in your car and fuck you up, if they really wanted to

nah imma just stick with a beat up sedan from 2008
