Bro I fucking hate Reza Pahlavi.
But he's the only fucking option. It's like, lesser of two evils but one evil is a little cartoon henchman and the other one is fucking Darth Sidious like idk at this point.
You can hate Reza Pahlavi but also acknowledge that the Iranian people don't really have any other options. There are so many academics who fled Iran during the revolution who's voices you will never hear because they don't have the same credibility and visibility, because no matter how smart you are, refugees are never treated with dignity.
There are so many fucking better options that the Iranian people would probably choose over Pahlavi - fuck, PAHLAVI would choose them over Pahlavi, but you're never gonna hear their voices because they are driving taxis and cleaning floors because refugees are never given the jobs they actually deserve.
So for now, we have Pahlavi. So we're gonna fucking ball with Pahlavi. If you don't support the Iranian people because they want Pahlavi, you fail to see the nuance. Because okay. Give them another option. Give them someone else who has the recognition Pahlavi does.
Tho if Pahlavi comes into power, he could truly be someone who gives exiled academics and lawyers and government workers voices in Iran. He could pave the way for new political candidates who are a lot better to step in. That's what I think most people do want to see from Reza Pahlavi. Listen Iranians aren't batshit crazy lunatics who want another dictator, like have some common sense PLEASE. And if Pahlavi becomes a dictator, I think they're gonna hold him accountable. Just like they held the Islamic Republic accountable. It was a revolution that brought them in charge, and the Iranians retaliated when that government was oppressive. No one wants to live under oppression if they've actually experienced it.
But yanno what, to Pahlavi supporters, y'all needa hold him accountable. If he fucks up, you tell him he fucked up. If you put a dictator in power, you hold him accountable for that. And if he sticks to his promises as a transitional leader and actually gives Iran democracy, well that's amazing. That's fucking amazing. And you celebrate that. But if he turns Iran into Israel and America's little bitch, you tell him that too. We need to hold leaders accountable for being assholes sometimes. But we also need to acknowledge that Iran has no other fucking choice at this point, and we need to support the Iranian people.
