I’m Yours by Alessia Cara If you ever wanted to hear Bakugo sing a love song, this is probably what he’d pick. A song about how someone just kind of inserted themselves into his life putting an end to his rude, cold-hearted nature. It’s a perfect embodiment of his relationship with Kirishima in my opinion.

Better Than I know Myself by Adam Lambert A great song to embody Bakugo’s emotional constipation. He has serious issues and he tends to lash out and hurt people. But despite all the big talk he gives, Bakugo does care about Kirishima. He’s the only person who’s managed to get under his skin. The only one who understands him. And this song is a beautiful example of Bakugo realizing that he’s hurt someone who is such an integral support system for him.

Dark Side by Kelly Clarkson Bakugo has a lot of problems, and if he’s going to date someone, they need to be someone who can handle the darker side of him. Someone who won’t run away when they see his ugly side come out to play. Someone who will stay with him through the dark times. Someone who won’t be scared off when things get tough. It’s a good song for an insecure Bakugo pleading for Kirishima to be that anchor of support that he needs.

Arms by Christina Perri A sweet song for a pining Bakugo. Honestly the song fits both of them, but as soon as I heard the line “I can’t decide if I’ll let you save my life or if I’ll drown” felt so very Bakugo to me. It’s definitely on the cuter side of songs from Bakugo’s emotional constipation.

Infra-Red by Three Days Grace Because if Bakugo’s going to flirt, he’s gonna do it by telling you how much less of a fucking loser you are compared to everyone else, and how baddass the pair of you are, which seems pretty fitting. The song treats the subject as a lone beacon in a dark world, a partner in crime who understands them a way nobody else does, and a passionate lover burning up with desire, which fits many fic depictions of Kirishima’s affections.

I’ll Be Good by Jaymes Young While not necessarily a romantic song, if you imagine him singing this promise to change to Kirishima, it can have a romantic element to it. This song is a great fit for Bakugo who is so broken, angry, and resentful. This is a deeply emotional song about a man admitting to someone that he’s hit rock bottom and that he wants to be better, seemingly for their sake, and Kirishima has been the guiding light in Bakugo’s character development so the song feels like a good fit for their dynamic.

Tie Me Down by Gryffin feat. Elley Duhe A song about being with someone too proud and stubborn to admit their feelings? Yeah, Kiri can’t relate to that at all. I like to think of this song as Kiri asking to “tie him down” in a metaphorical sense, wanting him to make a commitment and tie the knot.

This Feeling by the Chainsmokers feat. Kelsea Ballerini This is a great song for Kiri since he gets so much crap from his friends for liking Bakugo in a lot of fics. People don’t get the appeal and question his sanity and reasoning for liking the guy, but he just can’t help the way that he feels about him.

The Last of the Real Ones by Fall Out Boy Some people like the Kiri idolizing Bakugo types of fics, some don’t, but this definitely falls under a more starry-eyed worshiper type of dynamic. But it does highlight one of Bakugo’s most redeeming qualities: He’s unapologetically truthful to who he is. He doesn’t compromise on his beliefs, and he’s slow and stubborn to bow down to anyone else’s sense of right and wrong. He is a true beacon of integrity, at least when it comes to sticking with his guns. And for some people, that 100% sincerity can be a major turn on or at least an attractive quality.

Telepathic by Starset A bit of a weaker case for this song, but it fits well enough. Bakugo is the kind of guy who probably does or would have a lot of admirers, and with someone that amazing, it can feel very hard to get their attention. He’s so closed off and difficult to read that Kirishima has a hard time figuring him out while Bakugo can read him like a book, and Kirishima just kind of falls in with the crowd of groupies pining after him. Might fit better in some kind of rock star/celebrity au fic.
