Currently in my Batman, Batfam, Superbat, DC Trinity hyperfixation right now and binge reading just a ton of the fics on ao3, and they’re just on my mind a lot lately. So the other day in class, my martial arts master was doing a little intro to short sticks since we are going to be starting the special interest lessons on them next week.
He was going over the philosophy/theory for them and saying that short sticks are fun and let us be creative with our attacks. How they’re weapons that we could have in our belts as we do acrobatic and then use. He was like don’t be too tense or hold them too tight or hit with all the force of trying to cut through something. We should be relaxed and have fun and that short sticks are about going with the flow, being flexible, and using the rebound from a block to go into the next attack.
And the entire time, in my head, I’m like yes, I can see why escrima sticks are a good fit for Dick Grayson/Nightwing.
