Bhism: Have you ever broken a bone?
Bheem: Yes.
Bhism: Did it hurt?
Bheem: No.
Bhism: How?
Bheem: It was Dushasan's.
When I was little and had first read the kids version of Mahabharat my only concern about Draupadi marrying all five of the Pandavs was "won't she get tired walking round the fire 35 times?"
The Sun And The Moon
Chapter 8 - Angdesh
"So, what are your hobbies other than archery?" asked Divyanshi. At some point, she was bored with watching reels and Karn wasn't the person to start a conversation.
"I don't know. I can do archery well and..." he thought, "I can ride a horse." he said.
"Yeah, you can ride a horse." she repeated nonchalantly. "How is your mother? Do you go meet her often?"
"You know about my mother?" Karn asked.
"Of course, she is an important part of your side of the story." she said.
"How?" the chariot's speed reduced as Karn gained curiosity.
"She-she gave birth to you, that's how." Divyanshi didn't lie to him, just hid the truth.
"Oh yes!" he recalled and smiled, "You know about me already but I don't know you much. How was your life like in that yug?"
"It was boring. I had to get up early and travel from one place to another then those lectures," she sighed and smiled, "I had good friends, we used to sit in the canteen and plan for trips but we never got to go to those places. Once we planned to visit Goa and we even had the money but my friend, Akhil got sick; well, we had to cancel."
"You like to travel, don't you?" he asked.
"Like? No, I love to travel. I am a sucker for exploring places and hell yeah! The food is to die for!" she rambled, "Have you ever tried 'Delhi ki chaat'? Of course, you haven't! I could kill a person to have those-" she glanced at him, pausing herself from speaking, "I didn't mean that in that way."
"You should observe Dushasan when we talk about food the next time. One time we went to war and just before the battle he ate so much that he slept. We won the war but he had no idea. He slept for three days straight, Gandharaj was afraid that he died." he laughed.
Divyanshi laughed too. She had never seen him laugh like this. He was happy and so was she. She noticed the glow on his face when he smiled, his smile was to die for. Time passed like a lightning streak and they reached Angdesh.
"The palace is so beautiful!" she said in awe.
"It is better on the inside." Karn said, he motioned her to walk with him as helpers took their stuff.
"Oh! I could just stay here for eternity." she said.
"Maybe you should." he muttered.
She heard him and smiled. "That's magnificent!" she looked at the throne.
"I never liked it." he commented.
"Why?" she asked.
"It is a burden for a person. One needs a partner for it." he explained.
"That's deep." she commented.
"What-what are your thoughts on marriage? I mean you will marry someone here because you can't go back to 'your' life." he asked.
"Marriages don't work out easily. It would be tough to find a person whom I can agree with." she wondered more on the topic she never cared to ever think about, "Maybe that's why I don't want to get married. Dating is good but marriage is a big no."
"What if you find that person someday?" he added.
"There is an 'if' in that. I do take risks." she said, "The last time I did, it didn't end well. He beat me, I beat him and that was toxic."
"I am sorry." he apologised, "I hate such people."
Divyanshi didn't say anything, she nodded. The fact he said he hated those people but roamed with Duryodhan made her think if she really liked him or if was it just a summer crush. They spent the day wandering in the markets and telling their childhood stories to each other. The night went well after dinner, they sat under the moonlight in the rose garden.
"We didn't have Petunia Black Velvet because those are flowers of death and highly inauspicious. Roses are good." Karn said sitting on a rock.
"Roses are nice, I like them too." she sat with him. He was red sitting right next to her, he was indeed happy and his face said so. As always, it was glowing. This caught Divyanshi's attention. "When you get happy your face glows." she stated, "I just noticed that."
"Everyone's face glows when they smile." Karn shook off the comment.
"No, I mean that your face literally glows. These kundals actually glow when you are happy." she explained. "I knew that they are with you since your birth but I had no idea that these glow."
Karn's smile dropped, "I never told you about these glowing nor anyone else." Divyanshi knew she messed up, "You know something important, don't you?"
"I know about the kundals because I am from the future, remember?" she tried to hide that she knew about his origin.
"Why are not telling anyone about what you know?" he inquired.
"Because if I tell you or anyone about it, something worse can happen." she tried to reason, she stood up, and went back to the palace.
"What is it? A war? Someone dies, right? Is it some old secret that will be revealed?" Karn followed her in the corridor and grabbed her wrist. He held it gently and brought her to stand in front of him against the wall. The more he spoke the more he brought his face to hers.
"I don't want to ruin anything. If someone is going to change those events it is going to be me so don't interfere with my plan. It's extremely necessary." she stated, her heart was pounding. The distance between their faces was not even an inch.
"Please answer me!" he spoke softly, "I don't want to get hurt hearing the truth from someone else."
Not knowing what to do and not wanting to answer, she unknowingly pecked him. Parting after realising what she had done was absolutely foolish she went to her room hastily while he stood staring into nothingness.
The Sun And The Moon
Chapter 5 - Hastinapur
"Oh! So, she is the girl Karn couldn't stop talking about." said Dushasan.
"What?" Divyanshi exclaimed, her words were heard by the people passing and everyone was looking at her. Karn was seen red with the embarrassment. "I mean what do you mean, sir?"
"Sir?" asked Shakuni, "What does that mean?"
"It's a word from English Language." she explained, "I can speak many languages, please don't be surprised if I blabber in some foreign language."
"Ok, sir." Shakuni said.
'No! That's not how it works, idiot.'
"You said Angraj couldn't stop talking about her. What all things were you talking about her, Angraj?" asked Krishnn.
"Just the good things and how she stood up for me." Karn replied.
"We know her name but where does she belong to?" Duryodhan inquired, "Where are you from?" he asked Divyanshi.
"She is from the future." Krishnn said.
"I wasn't supposed to die but I did so I came here. It's complicated but I am going to stick with him." Divyanshi added.
"Future? Interesting!" Shakuni schemed plans to eliminate the Pandavs and now he had help, "She can stay with us."
"Of course! That's a great idea." Krishnn smiled.
"It is?" Divyanshi asked, they looked at her weirdly, "It is! It is! Indeed!" 'I am so doomed!' she thought.
Karn was a bit happy with the news of her staying with them for a while. In fact, he was beaming with so much joy that it was clearly showing on his face. After bidding goodbyes to King Drupad and Amruta, Divyanshi left Panchal with the Kauravs. There were no women on the trip and hence, there were no palanquin so Divyanshi had to accompany Karn on his chariot; he was happy with her decision.
Getting bored she decided to view the pictures of the swayamvar. She noticed the furious face of Duryodhan in the background and Dushasan stuffing all the sweets in his mouth trying not to be caught. Her eyes were searching for Karn and she saw him staring at someone, he was smiling. Doing all her calculations, she knew he was looking at her. She smiled to herself knowing she managed charm a person.
Karn's eyes fell on her phone, "What is that yantr?" he asked curiously.
"It's a phone. It has information in it and I call anyone anytime." she answered, she smiled looking at his confused face, "I can also capture moments like paintings but if I want those painting can move."
"People are advanced in the future." he commented.
"Well, not exactly. Technology is developed but us humans," she sighed, "we are 'shit'."
"What's that?" he asked.
"It's a bad word." she casually replied.
"Then why are you saying it?" he asked.
"Because it helps me express my emotions." she answered, "Oh! And this device can also allow me to listen to music."
"Play a song then." he requested.
"I have to decide. Let me see!" she scrolled through Spotify, "We can't play Taylor Swift because you won't understand her. Arijit Singh is nice, yes, him." She scrolled through his discography.
"Who's Arijit Singh?" asked Karn.
"Him?" she smiled to herself and sighed, "He is the best person I could ever think of. I love him so much."
"Right." he faintly said.
She noticed him, "Well, he is a singer."
"We should rest." Dushasan suggested.
"No, we have to travel more." Duryodhan denied.
"But I want to rest." Divyanshi whined silently.
"Yes, she's right." Karn agreed with her, "We-we should rest."
"Fine!" Duryodhan said.
Tents were set and everyone entered the respective tents and rested for hours. Dinner was being served and everyone came out of their tents, Divyanshi spent time on her phone and sat for dinner still looking at it.
"What is that in your hands?" asked Shakuni.
"It's a phone. I waste my time on it." she answered.
"So, how is future like? Do they still have kings and queens?" asked Dushasan.
"Only a few countries have the monarchy system but fighting for the properties is still a thing. My own father 'happily' gave half of his land to my uncle." she sighed at the last sentence and ate her food.
"Well, I can't relate more." Duryodhan lightly chuckled.
"You smile too? In future you are portrayed more- seriously." she was about to spoil the future.
"They know about me? I must have done something great, right?" he asked.
"Yeah, great!" she awkwardly smiling remembering his deeds.
"What about me?" asked Shakuni.
"Whenever there is a talk about uncles, we remember you." she partially lied, she didn't specify in a good way or a bad way.
"And do they know about me?" Karn asked.
"Everyone loves you." she said.
"And me?" Dushasan asked.
"No, we don't remember you much." she replied.
"Like nothing? Not even a bit?" he asked hopelessly.
"No, not even a bit. I know you because I have read the books and seen the shows but those who haven't, I doubt they remember you." she realised she sounded rude so she tried to act normal, "But there is one event you are known for."
"Oh! What's that?" he asked again, this time hopefully.
"I can't spoil it to you." she shrugged.
"Yeah, all the popularity goes to her lover boy." Dushasan muttered and ate his food, more like stuffed his mouth with food.
Rest over and they were back on the chariot. She slept through half the journey. When she woke up she saw the chariot being stopped and loud noise coming from a distance. She opened her eyes and saw the beauty of Hastinapur. It was a heavenly place and gasped looking at it.
"Damn! It is giving heaven." she mumbled to herself.
"You should pay a visit to Angdesh too." Karn said.
"I would love too." she smiled.
Everyone welcomed them to Hastinapur and they went to the palace. Divyanshi walked slowly observing the shops and the people there. A child handed her a flower, it was her favourite, Petunia Black Velvet.
"You like it?" Karn asked.
"I love them." she replied with enthusiasm. "They are my favourite. They were always around me since my childhood."
Karn's eyebrows furrowed at the statement. They finally reached the palace and were greeted by Gandhari, who was another beautiful woman Divyanshi met since the day before.
"Oh! I have two daughters now." she smiled not noticing tears in Divyanshi's eyes, she hugged her.
Entering the palace, Divyanshi had a strange feeling in heart. "You know they feeling you feel when someone genuinely hugs you, I felt that. It was weird." she said to Karn.
"Yes, that's kinship." he said.
"Oh! So, that's how it feels." she was weirded out.
She left him standing in the hall of the palace. He was wondering what had happen to him. What was the strange feeling he felt? He smiled at her leaving, this time he knew who he was smiling for; not some girl who warned him about the swayamvar but the girl who stood up for him when no else did, not even his best friend.

Chapter 4 - Swayamvar
"Now what shall I do. He won't follow my advice for sure." Divyanshi dumped the cloak and walked in the corridor of the palace. She bumped into a huge person, "You blind motherfu-" she looked at the man. "Oh!" It was him.
"I am sorry." he said.
"Oh no! I apologise, Angraj. I was being stupid." she tried to hide the fact that she just swore at him. She hoped he didn't hear her. She tried to leave but was stopped.
"Wait!" he held her wrist, "Do you know who does this ring belong to?" he held out a ruby ring.
She was surprised to see her ring, it must've fallen when she was stalking him. 'Oh no! Save me, Lord! He'll know.' "I-"
"Sakhi!" she heard Krishnn's sweet voice, "Here you are! I was searching for you everywhere."
"I was just wandering here." she smiled. 'Thank you for saving me.'
He smiled and turned to Karn. "What happened, Angraj?" he asked.
"I just wanted to return this ring to its owner but I can't seem to find her, Vaasudev." Karn replied.
"I know who's ring this is." Krishnn said.
'He's going to lie! He's going to lie! He's going to lie!' She hoped.
"It's her ring. Am I right, Sakhi?" he said.
It was almost a dramatic scene. Karn's gaze were fixed at her, she was staring Krishnn and then there was him, who was innocently looking at Karn. "It belongs to you?" Karn almost smiled.
'Why is he smiling?' she wondered, "Yes, it does."
"Is there a problem?" asked Krishnn.
"She came to me in disguise and 'threatened' me to not participate on behalf of Duryodhan." Karn complaint.
"Ok, it was not a threat. I just gave you a suggestion." she defended.
"And why would you 'suggest' me?" he asked. Divyanshi was glaring at him for wrong accusations. An axe was needed to break the tension between them.
"Because she knows the future." Krishnn broke the tension.
"What?" Karn asked, "How is that possible?"
"Why can't it be possible?" Krishnn smiled, "I'll leave you two here." he left.
"So you were trying to protect me? From what?" Karn inquired.
"I can't tell you yet." Divyanshi answered, "I will explain you later."
"Later? When?" he asked again.
"You ask so many question? Just give me my ring back." she tried to get her ring back but he raised it high.
"I'll return it to you when the right time comes." he smirked.
"Not funny. Give it to me!" she stood on her tip toes.
"Not happening." he turned around and walked away.
"Pathetic!" she rolled her eyes.
"You are here! I found you." Draupadi called her, "Where were you?"
"I was just roaming here but I want to talk to you about something." Divyanshi said.
"You must wait, I am sorry. The swayamvar is about to start." Draupadi took her hand and Divyanshi had to follow her.
"It's important." Divyanshi protested but no luck.
They reached, "Sit beside me." Draupadi smiled.
"That's my seat." Dhrishtadyum rebelled.
"Can't you adjust for a few hours. You can sit here as much as you want after the swayamvar." Draupadi spoke.
"I will manage but at least listen to me." Divyanshi said.
"Oh! I am sorry I left you there. I was scarred." Amruta dragged her away from Draupadi.
"Amruta, babe, I need to talk to her." Divyanshi boiling with impatience but the announcement interrupted her.
The rules were explained. Kings and Princes participated to test their luck but failed miserably. Divyanshi had to sit down, she found an empty seat beside Krishnn and joined him. Watching the Kings and Princes failing was boring, she knew what was going to happen and wished if she could record everything. She spotted five Brahmins and immediately knew who they were. She glanced at Draupadi and she caught her looking at her. Divyanshi smiled playfully and signed at the Brahmins. Draupadi was red.
"I hope he follows my advice." she wished. She looked at the sad face of Duryodhan, who looked at Karn hopefully.
"Is there no archer who has the ability to fulfill this task?" asked King Drupad.
Everyone looked down, it was Duryodhan who was smirking; he clearly was upto something. He stood up but was cut by Dhrishtadyum, "Yuvraj Duryodhan, you have already participated. You cannot participate again."
"You can say 'failed miserably'." Divyanshi muttered and Krishnn hid his laughter.
Duryodhan blabbered about the competition being biased. He wanted the competition to be about wrestling, the duo couldn't stop snickering. "Angraj Karn will be participating on my behalf and win Draupadi for me."
Divyanshi's grin disappeared when she saw Karn actually getting up. "Is he stupid? I warned him."
"He is an 'introvert'. Give him time." Krishnn said.
"Yeah, I can fix him." she glanced at Karn walking to the bow while Dhrishtadyum complained about Karn participating on behalf of Duryodhan being rubbish. Duryodhan then asked Karn to win Draupadi for himself.
"You said the same thing about Akhil." Krishnn spoke.
"Rishit was a mistake. I didn't know he would betray me." she noticed Karn picking up the bow. "Why isn't Arjun participating? Why is he not standing there? He should be here."
"Have faith and wait." he smiled.
"Stop!" yelled Draupadi before the arrow could leave the bow.
"Oh please don't do that!" Divyanshi mumbled.
"What happened, Rajkumari?" asked Karn, he was confused.
"I will not marry you." Draupadi spoke confidently.
People gasped and whispering started. They wondered why did Draupadi say such thing and some assume the reason to be about Karn's caste.
"Father, you wanted me to marry Prince Arjun. I will only marry him." she said.
"But, Prince Arjun is dead." King Drupad said and Divyanshi grinned at the statement.
"What is going on?" Duryodhan yelled.
"I will not marry Angraj." Draupadi announced.
'Great start! Now don't insult him.' Divyanshi thought.
"Why is that?" Karn snapped.
"I don't wish to marry you and I don't need to give you a reason for my decision." Draupadi spoke.
"What is going on King Drupad? Does your daughter wish to stay unmarried for life?" Duryodhan was angry.
"I am not going to marry a sutputr." Draupadi spoke and Divyanshi face palmed.
'Girl, what the hell!' Divyanshi screamed internally. She exhaled hard, "You can do this. You can do this. You have spoken in front of people before, they were double the crowd here." Divyanshi mumbled to herself.
"Yes, you can do this." Krishnn supported.
"Draupadi, if I may interject," she started and Draupadi nodded. Karn looked at her curiously, she gathered all courage and gained a smile from Krishnn. "What you said was absolutely wrong."
"But-but I am your friend." Draupadi gasped.
"Yes, that's why I am correcting you. You shouldn't have judged him based on his background. Everyone present here knows how-" she glanced at Karn, who was hiding his smile, "-brilliant he is. In fact, he is one of the greatest archer of all time."
"Thank you. Thank you for standing up for me." Karn said.
She blushed, her whole was red. She nodded and sat down. "I messed up, didn't I?"
"No, you didn't. He's already looking at you." Krishnn said, "Look, he is still looking at you."
"No, I won't look. It will be obvious." she said.
"I am sorry, Angraj Karn but my daughter doesn't want to marry you." King Drupad said, "I will have to call of this event-"
"No, the swayamvar is meant to be conducted." Krishnn said.
"But how?" asked Drupad.
"If the Kshatriyas aren't able to fulfill the task, we can invite Brahmins." Krishnn suggested.
Drupad nodded and accepted. Everyone waited, Divyanshi was extremely excited to meet Arjun. Arjun stepped forward and walked to the bow. He picked the bow and aim at the fish's eye, he stared at it for a minute and the next moment the arrow had left the bow and hit the fish's eye.
"Go put the garland around you husband's neck."
Draupadi did so and everyone cheered except the Kauravs. Karn was somewhat happy looking at the person who stood up for up, he wondered if you personally meet her again to thank her again. He wondered if he should present her a gift. Divyanshi was extremely happy and secretly recorded everything with her phone.
"I am gonna miss you, Divyanshi." Draupadi said.
"It's good to hear that a gained special place in your heart in just a few hours." Divyanshi held her hands and smiled, she turned to Arjun who was in disguise. "You better take care of her and don't replace me, ok? She is my new friend and-you get it don't you?"
"Yes, I do." he said.
They left and Divyanshi's eyes were filled with tears. "Oh! Who is cutting onions?" she turned to Krishnn, wiping her tears, "So, what now?"
"We'll first meet the Kauravs and-" he smiled brightly and looked at her, "Angraj."
"You know he is not that special for me. He is not even my type." Divyanshi glanced at Karn, "He's not that bad though."
"As I was saying, we'll first meet them and go to Dwarka." Krishnn said.
"That's great! I can finally meet Rukhmini ji." she smiled.
"Here they come." he said and Shakuni greeted him.
"Pranipaat, Vaasudev. What the girl did was extremely brave. We all would love to know who she is." Shakuni asked.
Divyanshi hesitated, 'Why is he staring at my soul?'.
"She is Divyanshi." Krishnn introduced her.
"Oh! So she is the girl Karn couldn't stop talking about." Dushasan.
"What?" asked Divyanshi.

Everytime Duryodhan and Karn fight, you'll find 99 Kaurav bros shaking in fright like their parents are getting a divorce while Yuyutsu is rolling his eyes at 5 very confused Pandavs and Dusshala is enjoying the show and eating makkhanas.
I'm still sad how we missed out on the LEGENDARY tantrum Duryodhan would have thrown when he found out that Karn was the Pandav's Jeshtha. Usko already maut aati hai ye soch ke ki Pandavs ke saath rajya share karna padega. Agar pata chala ki apna bestie share karna padega to bhai double Mahabharat ho jaati 😂😂😂
