I’ve changed my name!

As you may have noticed, my name change has happened!! I’m not the best at long, somewhat emotional posts. But with this change, I feel the need to give an explanation.
For a while now I’ve been struggling with my passion for cosplay and costume making in general. Some of it has been brought on by people in school treating me differently or not taking me seriously solely because I cosplay; it’s hard to pursue a career in something you love doing when those teaching you roll their eyes at things you do, or questions you ask.
Some of it has been because I haven’t found a steady group to be a part of. Not necessarily an official cosplay group, but a social group to be at cons with. I’m a very introverted person outside of conventions, yet I crave interaction - unless we’re going out to eat yummy food somewhere, I’m the type of person who’d rather stay home and have friends over. I have many friends who are amazing cosplayers or photographers, but most of them don’t live near me, some of them have established groups already, and perhaps I’m just annoying to some of them.
And some of it has been my own lack of skill. I attended my first convention, Zenkaikon, in 2007, and I started cosplaying soon after that. I’ve probably only been sewing my own costumes since 2010. I’ve seen cosplayers post progress pictures of their incredible skill level progression in less time than mine, and I do feel discouraged by that. Only recently have I truly begun to grasp how to sew things, and how they fit together. And that’s not a bad thing - some people learn at slower paces than others. I want so badly to improve, and to create things that are beautiful.
So I’m changing my name because I want to try to leave these struggles behind me, and work on being a better person, and a better artist. Pandlers is who I was when I started cosplaying, but I no longer feel the same connection to that name as I did before. I’ve chosen the name Wonderdove, my boyfriend suggested it, and it immediately clicked with me. It combines two of my absolute favorite comic book ladies: Wonder Woman, and Dove. They both have strengths I hope to bring out within myself, so I can truly enjoy my craft again.
Thanks for sticking with me, and I hope the next chapter of this blog is amazing.

I love how "katsucones" was just something so that people could blacklist our photos and it seems to be turning into a squad name.
