Throwback to Fartlyn trashing her employer on their Twitch show
Speaker 1: Katelyn Hatley
Speaker 2: Brent Hatley
Speaker 1: Here's the problem. Like when I was in commercial real estate, I loved the job, but a lot of the people in commercial real estate were assholes. And I had this one boss who owned the company and there was only like 12 people in the whole company.
Speaker 2: [00:00:30] I used to love those stories though, about how nuts that guy was.
Speaker 1: So, so just to let you know, like making 60,000 a year is a lot, um, for some reason, especially in New York, like I made more in my job in most places, um, in Tampa than I did in New York at the same job, but more responsibility. So I couldn't figure out why the job paid 60,000. And I got there and they didn't really have that much for me to do. And I was fucking bored half the time [00:01:00] this guy would scream.
Speaker 1: So this guy who owned the company of this commercial real estate company, he used to like scream and yell at everybody. He would, he would tell me that I had to stay. I was supposed to get out at five. So a lot of times I would stay till eight doing nonsense. He would scream and yell at me. He'd start drinking vodka. Uh, he put like ice almost up to the top of a pint glass and then just straight Titos, um, all [00:02:00] the way to the top. And it got to a point where I thought he was gonna physically abuse me as well as verbally. So what I'm trying to say is I couldn't, I ended up, um, uh, quitting that job and finding another job. But for a long time, like $60,000 is a lot. And when you're living paychecks to paycheck, because New York is so expensive and your rent is like $2,600 for a one bedroom, one bath, then you can't exact [00:02:30] like even unemployment to
Speaker 2: Be accurate. At that point, our rent was $3,100. Cause
Speaker 1: We were looking when we, when I was at Pantheon.
Speaker 1: The way, I don't give a shit fuck them. So when I was at this company called Pantheon, located in Manhattan, New York, fucking most of the people that work there are great. The owner is fucking insane. So in my opinion, our rent at that point, we actually had a one bedroom, two bath and our rent was 3,100. Brent [00:03:00] corrected me. I was making 60. Brent was making a little bit more than that, but we were living paycheck to paycheck. I
Speaker 3: Was making 85.
Speaker 1: It's okay for me to say that.
Speaker 3: Yeah, I was making 85 plus bonuses that caught me over a
Speaker 1: Hundred. So Brent said that it was okay for me to say at that time, when we were paying $3,100 in rent, he was working for the stern show. He was making 85,000 a year. And then he would get a bonus at the end of the year that put him before taxes, like over a hundred thousand. [00:03:30] Not much. It would be like almost right at a hundred. I think he got like a 10 or over it. Was it over? It was like $15,000. What's that? Was it like 15,000 bonus? No,
Speaker 3: It was more like 18 to 22.
Speaker 1: So he would get like an 18 to $22,000 bonus. But the problem with bonuses is that it's considered like a cash payment. So it's higher tax, 40%. He would get 40% tax. So really if he made a $20,000 bonus, he made more like $12,000 bonus. So it put him over a hundred thousand dollars and I made 60, [00:04:00] but we paid $3,100 a month in rent. So like we were literally eating soup over rice for dinner every night. Um, the only concerts that we went to were food. We got free tickets. So if I were to quit my job, then how like we would get kicked out of our apartment. Like we had no extra money, no savings, no nothing. So the hype train train ended, uh, we got to, we almost got to level two anyway. So, um, sometimes my point in all of [00:04:30] this is, you know, I'd rather not have somebody yelling at me and the possibility of being physically, mentally, verbally abused by a boss at work and work at home and do something I don't like than doing something I do like, and being, uh, in, in, in one case I'm not, this is a party show, so I'm not gonna get into it.
Speaker 1: In one case I was sexually harassed. So I would rather stay at home and [00:05:00] do stuff that maybe I don't like and maybe find stuff while I'm doing stuff. I don't like find stuff I do like to do. And even if I don't make any money off of it, just do it. Like I, um, you know, so anyways, that's sorry. That was such a long explanation. But just to answer your question about mental health and doing stuff as you don't like, so they have anyway, moving on to more happy stuff. Um, [00:05:30] so D thinks that the Ravens are gonna win the super bowl. Oh shit.
