If you're still doing prompts, 13 (snowed in) because that seems the most corny and unlikely set up and therefore, fun 😂 thanks!
:DDD thank you! it IS super corny, and i love it

"This was not the plan," Buck says, sounding hilariously put out as he drops a load of blankets onto the mattress that's been hauled out into the living room. The furniture is shoved to the walls, leaving an open space in front of the fireplace, where a merry little fire is crackling now. It's not really enough to beat back the cold, but they've been moving around enough that it doesn't matter right now, and by the time they're done the main room, at least, should be warmed up. Snow swirls against the windows, glittering in the night.

(if you want! very keen for the last chapter of Eddie being insane about faking dating Buck and more odd jobs Buck 😊)
ok i think all four would kill the rain so since you mentioned fake dating and odd jobs i'll do those!
as i walk with the sun (not the part i wrote but i wrote some of the ending scene, so to avoid spoilers here's a bit from the middle!)
“Eddie,” he says again, this time with a little more steel in his tone. “This isn’t-- I’m not trying to pry--”
“Good,” Eddie says. “Because as our captain, that would be pretty inappropriate.”
Not that this has ever stopped any of them before, is left unsaid.
“-- but I have to know,” Chimney wraps his hands together over the table, looks at Eddie solemnly. “Is this something I need to be worried about? Professionally speaking?”
Eddie looks away slightly. “What did Buck say?” he asks, voice coming out more defiant than he intends.
“To his captain? He told me that he has no problem working with you,” Chimney says carefully.
Eddie can feel his lips twist slightly, sharp and bitter. No problem, Buck said, as if Eddie were a floater or a transfer or some other innocuous, anonymous face passing by the 118. Hell, as if Eddie meant less than that, not even enough to spark indignation or jealousy or any of the small childishnesses that Buck indulges in when he feels threatened by change and feels safe enough in his place to show it.
“I’m guessing he said more to his brother-in-law,” Eddie bites out, trying to break the words into something more palatable.

"Sir, sir-- sir!" Hen yelps, gripping the grab handle on the passenger's side window as the vehicle suddenly lurches to life beneath her. "Sir, I'm going to ask you to shut down the car so I can check you over, it is not safe for you to--"
A rumble, and Hen barely registers the swoosh of air around her as they begin to move before the car lurches to the side, a weight slamming in from the suddenly open back side door. Hen absolutely does not scream even a little, which is what she'll say when she's laughing with her beautiful wife after shift today, as her eyes dart to the rear-view mirror.
"Buck?"
"Hen!" Buck twists up. In the driver's seat, the patient stares at him.
"What the hell are you doing?" Hen snaps.
Buck squints at her as the car keeps speeding. Hen's pretty sure she can hear Bobby's voice faintly behind them. At least that's something. "Me or this guy?"
"I have to-- I have to make this interview. You don't understand. This is life or death."
"And now it's all of our lives or deaths," Hen informs the panting driver, voice only slightly more hysterical than normal. She takes a deep breath. Forces herself to calm down. Buck, in the back seat, barely looks concerned at all. Idiot adrenaline junkie or not, Hen refuses to have the fucking probie be more put together than her in an emergency situation. The concept was not to be borne.

Rules: without naming them, post a gif of ten of your favourite films, then tag ten people to do the same

10, 18, 21 (I know you've answered the music one so you can either say a new song or skip it 😊)
10. What's your favorite book?
My brain absolutely blue-screened at this, I will have you know! I'm so bad at favorites. It especially feels hard right now, as I continue to try to grapple with how to feel about authors who were important in my life and who have since turned out to be real whack jobs.
I've never regretted picking up a book by Terry Pratchett, Ross Gay, Rebecca Makkai, Cat Sebastian, Sally Rooney, Rufi Thorpe, Rebecca Solnit, Maggie Nelson, or Deborah Tannen. I have been legitimately entertained, sometimes in ways that involve a lot of arguing, by books authored by Diana Gabaldon, Deborah Harkness, and Casey McQuiston. I have learned a hell of a lot about American history from books by Deborah Cohen, Jackson Lears, Walter Johnson, and Rick Perlstein, among a slew of others.
18. What's the most expensive thing you've ever bought?
Our second ("my") car. To which I recently said goodbye, in large part because the mechanics said it was going to need a new engine in the near future. Its last gift to me was holding on long enough to get us through our last days in our previous city.
Since our remaining car is getting very gentle use, my hope is that we can baby it with regular maintenance for a long, long time. But it's already an adolescent in human years, which is elderly in car years, so fingers crossed!
(I would prefer for our next major purchase to be real estate, but that's another can of worms.)
21. A song that evokes a good memory.
When I was a teenager and we were driving around in the car together with the radio on and singing along, my dad used to change the "you're still the one/and I wouldn't switch" lyric in Orleans' "Still the One" to "you're still the one/you son of a bitch" to crack us both up. 😂
☆ Eliot Spencer for the ask meme :)

Thank you ❤️ (absolutely leaned into the country/Americana music my dad raised me into haha)
Send me a ☆ and a character name for a 5 track playlist of songs that remind me of them!
🪞- inter-dimensional portal shenanigans for buck? yes please!
yay, interdimensional portals! and also sleepwalking
Buck used to sleepwalk when he was a kid. It stopped around the time he hit puberty, thankfully. Maddie had already moved out by then, and every time his mom caught him wandering the house at night fast asleep she looked at him like he was a ghost, like he was digging a knife into her heart just by standing there in the living room or by the front door, dazed and barefoot in his pajamas. He gets it now, but that still doesn't make it a pleasant memory. His dad was the one who'd steer him back to bed most of the time once Maddie was gone, the one who'd settle the covers on him and sigh and say, you know how much this upsets your mother, Evan, as if he was doing it on purpose.

🤒🤒 thank you!

It feels unfair, really. Buck's the one nursing a—a crush. How long has that been going on, anyway? It can't have been while he was still with Tommy. Even if that relationship had an expiration date that was clear as anything to anyone other than Buck, eternal optimist that he is—that's just because Tommy was an ass. Eddie might not have realized it during that first early bloom of friendship, but he was. Obviously. He broke up with Buck, after all.
"Lift on three," Hen says, and Eddie snaps back to the present.
"Yep," he says, and lifts on her count. The man on the stretcher groans, and Eddie adds, "Don't worry, sir, we'll get you to the hospital, you'll be in good hands."
"Just maybe don't try any more solo construction projects," Hen adds, and the man—Jerry, fifty-six, phillips-head screwdriver embedded in the meat of his calf and currently carefully packed in place for transport—chuckles, then winces.
"Guess that was pretty stupid of me, huh," he says. "You'd think I'd know better."
