Reflection || Rutherchang (9/9)
[After getting a cup of coffee at the student's building, provided to him by none other than Blaine Anderson, Matt took a look at the time on his watch - something that many a witch didn't seem to possess, making Matt feel, once again, old - and realized that it was time for him to meet up with Mike. Leaving the student building, the drakaina headed to the Great Tree... but he still wasn't quite sure where it was. Eventually, he found it - but only after stopping a student that would have rather not he stopped them, judging by the fearful look in their eyes - and it appeared Mike was already there.] "My apologies for being late... Hopefully you weren't waiting too long?" [He made sure to keep his movements slow, steady, hesitant as he walked, not wanting to scare Mike as no doubt his aura was putting pressure on the man.] "It's a pleasure to meet you in person, though, Mike... I am Matt."
Eat & Run
Ravi narrowed his eyes as he watched as the last female customer left and the Chef finally locked the doors of the small, but incredibly busy restaurant. “It’s about fucking time. I thought he was going to feed every bitch in the Commonwealth,” Ravi grumbled. He and his partner had been staking out their mark from the roof of the building across the street for the entire day. They’d moved in before dawn broke and set up under what was left of a collapsed floor, which shielded them from the sun as the hours stretched on.
It was an unusual job for the pair -- to say the least. Most of their work included killing people - not keeping them alive. A kidnapping that came with an enormous reward, half of which they’d been given up front, was too good to pass up. When they learned exactly who their target was, Ravi at least, had never heard of the guy.
As they traveled to the city in order to abduct the popular radio star, they tuned into his show so they could possibly learn a little bit more about who they’d be going up against. Ravi didn’t hold back any comments about what an idiot he thought the man was. It had taken two entire weeks to get from the ransomer’s meeting point to the city, so they’d been able to hear the Chef’s show a few times.
There seemed to be some kind of mishap on every episode. One of the guest chef’s lit himself on fire and half the broadcast was complete chaos as they tried to put him and the studio out. The next week the Chef had been sampling a guest’s recipe and got so sick that he had to flee the studio. There were, of course, a few broadcasts that had decent segments and a few recipes that he honestly was a little excited to try for himself.
Most of what he noticed about the chef was that he sounded helpless. It wasn’t that he sounded feminine; he didn’t. But he was softspoken and often times didn’t seem to know how to handle situations -- specifically when his guests ended up flirting with him or complimenting him. There was an air of vulnerability about him that Ravi was guessing was what made him so popular. It was the kind of thing women would eat up - literally. If they were on the weaker side then his gentleness appealed to them, made them feel like he wouldn’t hurt them or steal from them. If they were capable and strong, it made them feel like this sweetheart of a guy would be forever grateful for their protection and spend his days cooking and making love to them.
Looking at him now, and like he had been all day, Ravi couldn’t help thinking he had a sweet setup. He’d never seen so many women in one place. The funny thing was, the guy wasn’t putting moves on any of them. He was attractive, even Ravi would admit that. He looked as much like a teddy bear as he sounded...but stronger. For a chef, he seemed to have a fair bit of muscle on him. Women were falling all over themselves to get his attention, but he was completely unaware.
It was exasperating to watch and Ravi felt like Raven must’ve been bothered too. He’d been quieter than usual lately. Ravi glanced at his partner and then back to the building, watching candlelight move up the stairwell to the second floor and into the bathroom. The chef set his candle down on the sink and started undressing to get ready for bed for the night. “We should get moving or he’ll be naked by the time we get in there.”
First Things First [ ren / jimin ]
@overlookxdrive
Despite how Seoji insisted he was fine, Jimin was still worried about him. Something didn’t seem right but he wasn’t in any position to push him for more information. He frowned a little, but the minute Seoji complimented his master Jimin’s expression grew proud. He looked over at Ren with a warm smile, relishing the way his cheeks flushed with colour. Even if he was only his servant, Jimin was still thrilled to be Ren’s date for the evening.
When Seoji suggested they dance, Jimin felt his nerves increase. He hadn’t had a lot of practice before and he was afraid of disappointing Ren. As Ren insisted in a panic that he didn’t want to be any trouble, Jimin replied just as quickly in an equally panicked tone. “N-no, it’s not any trouble! We can dance!”
The words had easily left his lips but as he started to carefully lead Ren out onto the dance floor Jimin was obviously tense. He’d found them a small corner where there weren’t many other people so they wouldn’t have to worry about anyone bumping into them. He gently guided Ren’s hands where they needed to be and then carefully placed his hand on his waist. He pulled Ren a bit closer and then started slowly, eyeing a few of the older vampires around them to make sure he was doing things right. “Are you okay? I’m sorry if I’m not very good at this. I haven’t had a lot of practice,” he said with an apologetic laugh.
Ren had butterflies in his stomach as Jimin carefully led him onto the dance floor. He’d really wanted to dance, but it always seemed like too much to ask. It always had been in the past; but not for Jimin. He seemed completely unsure of himself yet here he was, leading Ren out to dance because he wanted to. If they messed up or looked foolish it would be Jimin who received the judgmental looks, not Ren. He wouldn’t see a thing, of course.
He placed his hand on Jimin’s shoulder as directed, a hint of warmth rising in his cheeks when Jimin put his hand on his waist. He hadn’t felt like this in a very long time and it all seemed to be coming on so quickly. Jimin was so gentle and truly kind. There was no way Ren couldn’t immediately feel comfortable with him; that he could trust him.
“It’s really all right, Jimin-ssi,” Ren assured him, moving the hand on Jimin’s shoulder to gently touch the side of his face, his soft fingertips slipping across Jimin’s lips to check his expression. He was smiling, which Ren felt like he could usually hear in Jimin’s voice no matter what the situation. “I don’t know the steps,” he admitted as he placed his hand back on Jimin’s shoulder.
Ren easily allowed Jimin to lead, waiting until he started them moving. He had the rhythm right at least, so Ren found it quite easy to match his steps since he was pressed so closely to him. He could feel Jimin’s heart pounding through his chest. So far the contact they had shared hadn’t been as intimate as Seunghyun had eluded to. It was unusual for Ren under these circumstances, but he felt a bit shy in front of Jimin.
He wanted Jimin to like him and if possible, like how he looked. And Ren was sure that was doubtful considering the scars on his back. Tonight would be different, though. Min would definitely have someone in his bed and wouldn’t be available to help him. There would be no more hiding. Jimin would see him at his most vulnerable and all the things he couldn’t hide.
A sudden turn made Ren gasp, his eyes widening and his grip on Jimin tightened before he caught his breath and although it was soft, he laughed. A few steps more and Jimin twirled them again, Ren locked safely in his arms. A smile spread across Ren’s face, a sight just as rare as hearing laughter from the quiet vampire.
“Do it again,” Ren requested softly, quite sure Jimin would comply. The more he spun, the wider his smile became. The feeling was intoxicating. It was so easy for him to become disoriented and frightened, but this was different. He was sure Jimin wouldn’t let him fall, so he didn’t worry.
Ren let go of Jimin’s shoulder, arching his back and letting his arm reach out beside him as Jimin spun him around in circles. The song came to an end and Ren knew he had to stand up properly. He leaned forward, but it felt like the room continued to move. He threw his arms around Jimin’s neck to steady himself and the room, which didn’t work.
“I’m so dizzy,” Ren softly laughed as he rested his head on Jimin’s shoulder and waited for the dizziness to subside. His knees were weak and his balance was still off when he tried to move on his own. “Maybe I overdid things...can we leave, Jimin-ssi? I really think I need to eat something and I don’t like to eat in front of other people,” Ren admitted, looking up at Jimin with blank, but pleading eyes.
❝Interview with the Vampire❞
“Remember, Jimin-ah, if you’re not chosen it’s only because you were meant for something else; not because you aren’t good enough,” Seoji explained with a hushed voice as he and a dozen other hopefuls waited in a lavish parlor. Seoji had already accepted a new position or honestly, he might’ve applied for the job himself. Jimin’s friend, the cambion Jiwon was there as well, but Seoji didn’t think he stood a snowball’s chance in hell of being picked. His young protege, on the other hand, would make a wonderful companion, but with this particular vampire’s case, it wasn’t qualifications he was looking for.
The vampire known simply as “Ren” was a powerful clairvoyant who could see far into the future with astounding accuracy. He could see the destiny of anyone he touched, but the closer a person’s life was to his own, the blurrier his vision. The future he could see - but that was all. Spending eternal life without the benefit of vision was undoubtedly a challenge and an incredible frustration. He needed a great deal more care than a normal vampire would require from his daylight guardian. In most situations, Ren was absolutely helpless and from what Seoji understood, his constitution was very weak.
“For those that are not chosen, he’ll sometimes give them advice on where their future will lead them,” Seoji explained softly, doing his best to encourage Jimin since he could practically feel the boy’s nerves as he awaited what was his first job interview. “That’s a relief,” Jiwon spoke up a little too loudly. He grinned at Jimin, obviously about to say something overly and unnecessarily cocky. “When he picks me instead of you at least you’ll have an idea what you’re supposed to be doing with your life,” he announced with a cheeky wink.
Jiwon didn’t actually want the job to be honest. He’d come because he knew Jimin was worried about it. Spending eternity wiping some decrepit, blind vampire’s ass and letting him slobber all over him did NOT sound appealing in any sense. He didn’t care how noble he’d be perceived as or how amazing the pay and lifestyle would be. A crusty old vampire was a crusty old vampire. Best case scenario, Jiwon would get a peek at his future for free, which was a pretty nice benefit to his effort to be a good friend...even if it didn’t openly seem like it.
The double doors to the left side of the entryway suddenly opened, a man in a suit standing behind each one as they held the doors open. Instead of each man entering one by one, the entire group was ushered inside the sitting room. The den was lavishly decorated with antiques and dark wood. A fire roared in the hearth across the room and Choi Seunghyun himself stood at the mantle looking as cold and menacing as every rumor about him described. It was only appropriate that such an aged and powerful vampire would command such presence.
Beside him in a large high-back chair sat a figure that was certainly not what Jiwon had expected. The boy appeared young, around their age and was quite beautiful in a fragile way. His hair and skin were white as snow, only amplified by the beautiful white robe he wore. His eyes were closed and did not open even as he must’ve heard a dozen sets of footsteps enter the room.

Melanie sighed as she watched the rain from the hotel window, wishing it'd stop. But, then again... it gave her an excuse to walk around in her bathing suit as she waited for it to stop, plus... it was always nice to have an audience as well... She looked over her shoulder at Matthew, her step-son, and bit her lip for a moment. Her cover-up was sheer, and may as well have been lying on the floor since it covered much of nothing. "Do you think it'll let up soon?" she asked him, placing one petite hand on her hip, facing the window still.
