Welcome to Para-Education

This blog was created to help me (@emmettspace) collect and save cited research surrounding paraphilias and paraphilic disorders. Most of this information is used to create videos on my Youtube channel to bring paraphile advocacy to more mainstream platforms.

Can we submit sources for this research?

Yes! Submissions are always welcome and can be sent through asks, or you can tag this blog in the post you want me to see. Please make sure that the source is linked and that the information in the source is cited, so I can check out each citation.

You may also suggest video topics and recommend other creators centered around paraphile advocacy and education.

Can we ask questions regarding research?

Absolutely. You can ask about anything you read on this blog or elsewhere regarding this subject. I will do my best to answer. Please note that I answer all asks publicly unless you request for it to be answered privately.

What are your contact stances?

My contact stances align with NO-ACT. Here is an excerpt taken from the linked page:

NO-ACT stands for "Non-Offending, Anti-Contact, Taboo" and is a movement for paraphiles who are against sexual contact with minors, theriform animals, and non-consenting people, but pro-kink and other means of safe sexual expression.

This means I am strictly anti-contact when it comes to any sentient being (or previously sentient) that cannot consent. I am always anti-abuse. If you have any questions regarding this, feel free to ask.

I am also pro-paraphiles (which includes all paraphilias and paraphilic disorders), pro-recovery for those with paraphilic disorders who need or want help (recovery is not a requirement for paraphiles to exist), am fine with minors interacting, and do not believe any paraphilia is 'harmful'.

Do you vet every source you cite?

I try to do my due diligence, but I am only one person and can easily miss things. As a general disclaimer, I do not agree with or endorse everything that someone or something says or does, even if I cite them as a source.

Are you a paraphile?

I am not when it comes to reality; all of my attractions are purely fictional. I think that's important to state because as an ally, I do not face the same type of stigma that most paraphiles do, and I do not share or fully understand their experiences. I can only do my best to educate and correct myself if I get something wrong.

How do you tag things on this blog?

we'd never allow anyone to hurt our packmates, do not dare to insinuate that.

when we say "support" that never means we think it's ethical to engage in sexual activity with someone who cannot or does not consent. it means we don't tolerate the harrassment, violence, and forced medical treatment paraphiles go through because people deem them inherently evil and needing of correction.

having pedophilia does not mean someone will act on it, or assault another person. what arouses someone is not something that they can control, nor is it something to be treated and "fixed" if it does not pose a risk to themself or others.

actions can be controlled, though, and actually have the potential to do harm, whereas thoughts and attractions do not. we support pedophilia, but never child sexual abuse. those are not the same things, and we wish people would understand that by now. we don't support abuse of any kind. pedophiles are not abusers.

what we mean by support is that we'll never villify or shame someone for having an attraction they can't control. it means we support them engaging in their attraction in non-harmful ways, such as through roleplay with consenting adults. it means that we won't ever tell them that having pedophilia is inherently disordered, and that should "seek help" for it. it means that even for people who have pedophilic disorder, we support them getting treatment through cognitive-behavourial therapy and not fucking conversion therapy. it means we support their right to safety, choice, and self-expression. they deserve that just as much as anyone else does.

we are an ally to all paraphililes, no exceptions.

This is probably a stupid question or has already been asked, but when people put “anti-contact” are they generally referring to EVERY paraphilia or only the paraphilias involving adults and minors, humans and animals, things like that where consent isn’t possible?

Not a stupid question at all, this also confused me before I knew about contact stances. Anti-contact generally refers to being against any type of non-platonic contact (romantic, sexual, some blend of the two) when consent is not possible, but that can mean different things to everyone. I like the NO-ACT definition for what qualifies as something that cannot consent:

Other things I like to include (and do so on my main Tumblr blog, where my audience is different than a Youtube audience) are pro-consent and anti-abuse, which can go hand-in-hand with anti-contact philosophy.

The important thing to be aware of when it comes to anti-contact stances is that we do not want to use it as an excuse to be bigoted against "The Big 3". I have seen way too many statements along the lines of "anti-contact only for harmful paraphilias". There is no such thing as a 'harmful paraphilia'. There are only harmful actions.

We recently had a post reblogged from us with some questionable tags and would like to address them.

#1) "Minors DNI"

Minors are welcome to interact with this blog, as this is solely for educational purposes and any posts with explicit content will have a mature community label, in order to abide by the ToS. We get that this blogger tags all posts with 'Minors DNI' for their own purposes, we just wanted our stance to be clear, since a lot of this education directly helps minors and involves minors. Adults are not the only age group with paraphilias.

#2) "Anti harmful para"

There is no such thing as a "harmful" paraphilia. Actions can be harmful, not attractions. So, again, we want to make it clear that we are not 'anti harmful paraphilia', we are anti-contact when it comes to harmful actions, and anti-abuse overall.

#3) "Neutral para"

We are not 'neutral' on paraphilias because that implies there is something to be opposed. We are 100% supportive of all paraphilias and paraphilia disorders, as it states on the pinned post of my main blog. We will be linking this post to our pinned on this blog, just to make this very clear. While the intentions behind "neutral" stances are good, it is important that we examine what we are being neutral about and why. If we are hesitating to say we are in full support of paraphiles due to unchecked paramisia (i.e. the account who reblogged this post has "Anti Big 3" in their pinned), that's a problem.

#4) "Pro recovery"

We support recovery for anyone suffering from a paraphilic disorder that wants or needs help with their disorder. It's very tricky to use 'pro recovery' as a blanket statement because, as we've been finding in our research, there is a misconception that all paraphilias are disorders and must be 'cured'. This 'requirement' is often attached to a paraphile's right to exist in society, as in, they don't get to exist as equals if they do not 'recover' from their paraphilia, despite having done no harm.

To be clear, we are not putting words in this blogger's mouth or claiming that we understand their stances. These tags just reminded us to make our own stances clear and comment on different stances about and within the paraphile community.

Please do not attempt to find the reblogged post and harass the blogger or 'call them out'. We are always strictly anti-harassment.

Thank you, anon! I've done a quick skim to start, and I will definitely be going through and sharing my notes on these in the future. Sad to see that many linked pages are no longer there (I have no doubt they were flagged/reported), but I will work with what I can still access.

You should talk about the subgenres of the big 3s (like pedophilia with autopedophilia, ephebophilia, fictophilia etc)

I've heard about ephebophilia, but I've never heard of the others. I did find this list of paraphilias on a Paraphile Wiki to look into, though it seems like many pages are missing and it is a long list to start with.

I will most likely start with the more well known paraphilias and then go into these subgenres more in-depth in a separate video, but I'll still mention them in the introduction. Are there any subgenres you (or anyone) would suggest looking into first and foremost?

Also, would the "Big 3" be pedophilia, zoophilia, and necrophilia? I think I'm familiar with two of them, but I forget what the third would be.

We do exist, fortunately! Though I might be a fictophile, on some level, none my paraphilias would apply to real life (i.e. mine would be loli, and it's not very intense or something I think about / seek out often, so I'm not even sure it would classify as a paraphilia...more of just 'unconventional thing I like in fiction sometimes').
