How will Hazel and Maisie's friendship change in the series?

I mean first and foremost prepare yourself for heartbreak over these two. There are so many songs about breakups and just general emotional pain that serve as Maizel inspo to me (catch me plugging the Delirium playlist right now) my favourites being I Have Questions by Camila Cabello, Funeral by Zara Larsson and Even if it Hurts by Sam Tinnesz. 

When Maisie returns Hazel is hella pissed. She’s spent nearly two years missing Maisie, but when she returns that pining for her best friend suddenly turns into a realisation of ‘hang on a second, she abandoned me’. Everyone else is just glad she’s okay (except for Matty who doesn’t trust Maisie one bit) and they all welcome her back with open arms so Hazel is forced into seeing Maisie everywhere constantly, with the people who helped her with the grief of losing her dad and best friend in one night, which is only going to make her angrier.

Eventually Hazel will start to forgive Maisie when she realises what Maisie has been through in the time that she was away, and when she finally accepts that it wasn’t Maisie’s decision to leave. But at the end of Paroxysm something will come to light that might threaten their entire friendship altogether… but as the biggest plot twist of the story I can’t really reveal what that is. 

So basically, in short it’s gonna be a combination of Maisie begging for forgiveness, Hazel being stubborn AF, and a hell of a lot of miscommunication and secret keeping.

Are Hazel and Maisie the dual protagonists of the story or is it going to be from Hazel's POV only?

WHAT A GOOD QUESTION. If I was motivated enough I’d love to write the entire story twice, from both perspectives… but I need to finish one version first so gotta be realistic.  There’s so much Maisie has to say that it can’t possibly just be conveyed through her dialogue, so I’m leaning towards both especially as the prologue opens with Maisie anyway. And also, Hazel brings a hell of a lot of bias to anything Maisie says/does because she’s angry af so it’s definitely worth telling Mais’ side of the story too. I reckon we might end up with about 60% Hazel, 40% Maisie.

What are your goals for Paroxysm and the Delirium series?

Pretty simply: to actually finish writing it. I have never finished writing a single story so that’s the main goal. The biggest goal is for it to be published one day, but that’s obviously a long shot. On a smaller basis, I kinda just hope it improves my writing and plotting abilities. I’ve been thinking a lot during the few months I’ve had off from writing and questioning whether Paroxysm is what I should be writing, there’s so many writing YA novels as it is and I’ve been reading a lot of thrillers/crime novels and wondering whether that’s something I should look into instead… But I’m persevering with it whilst I don’t have any other original ideas, and because I’m so attached to Hazel. Thank you for your question & sorry about the ridiculously long response time!

What are the main ships of the delirium series?

Romantically: Stazel (Spencer x Hazel, also kept the ship name stazel because Spence’s initials are ST) and Maisaac (Maisie x Isaac)

Platonically though there’s ships flying all OVER the place. My favourites are Kingphy (James x Hazel), Finlet (Findlay x Lettie) aaaand Viotilda (Lettie x Matty). I mean Maizel’s clearly the biggest platonic ship but it’s also one that’s in serious danger of sinking sooo… Spencer and James are a given too.

What roles do Laurel and Violet play in Paroxysm, as characters and Hazel's cousins?

The Murphy family are the closest and most supportive family there is, especially after the death of Hazel’s dad Alexander. Laurel and Violet are both incredibly powerful in their own rights, but for the most part of Paroxysm Laurel is much more in control and in touch with her abilities than Lettie is. Lettie being a bit out of touch with what she’s capable of means that she starts to spend more time with Hazel due to mutual feelings of frustration. Ultimately though, the combination of Haze and Lettie both not being in full control of their powers has a bit of a negative effect rather than a positive one. 

Laurel in Paroxysm is a grounding, stable force. She always knows what to do, or makes it seem like she does even if she’s freaking out on the inside… she’s essentially the #momfriend of the group. Lettie is a whirlwind of a person, bounces into the room and talks at a million miles an hour having about seven conversations simultaneously. Hazel’s never felt like she wanted a sister because she’s always already had two in the form of Laurel and Lettie.

Okok, I've got a bunch of questions tbh but the most important is how Paroxysm will deviate from the TW Paroxysm? Does James gonna be bitten like Scott was? Does Matty was the new girl? Ya know, that's kind of thing! (and I love the idea of Laurel being a Seer tho, althought I'm curious about the Seer thing but also the Succubus)

hello love sorry it took me so long to get around to answering this & thank you so much for more questions !!! To be honest I don’t think it will deviate much from what I had planned for TW Paroxysm, still the same plot twist just a different way of getting there and obviously different characters. So I mean it’s a case of “same but different”??

In terms of James, no he wasn’t bitten. He’s a born werewolf, his family are all werewolves too. Maisie, however, was bitten. She was aware of the supernatural before she was bitten even though she was human because of Hazel’s abilities/how close they were. Matty’s always been around, she was acquaintances with the whole gang pre-Maisie-disappearing, but only became actual friends with everyone a couple of months after Maisie disappeared. 

I’m also excited about the Seer and Succubus abilities etc, I think it’s one of the things I’m most excited to explore. I’m not limiting myself to any set definition of those kinds of abilities and just gonna go with the flow and see what I think each respective character should be capable of in any given situation, it’s gonna be a lot of fun I think.

Heey! So I had Paroxysm feels today meaning that I scrolled throught your edits cause I just love these serie and you're like, talented as hell?? Anyway, could you tell us more about the dynamics between the characters, including the new one?? Like, what have changed and if there were changes?? And also a little bit of what you changed (no need to be specific but I'm very curious what changes you made for the plotline, characters, ect) (And I have like hundred of questions but hold myself back)

Omg no please don’t hold yourself back, ask away!!! Thank you so much honestly, it still boggles my mind that people other than me are invested in the series tbh, especially now that I’ve got very little to offer for people to read just yet! 

OKAY SO, oh gosh this could get long hahah in terms of Hazel, when Maisie disappears she becomes incredibly close with Matty (Alycia Debnam Carey) and obviously the boys Spencer and James too but Matty essentially becomes a replacement figure, but she is like the complete opposite of Mais and has a lot in common with Haze. So there’s the main group: Hazel, Matty, James, Spencer, Laurel and Isaac. Laurel tends to disappear off with a big group of pretty girls who are interested in very girly things leaving Haze and Matty with the boys, but that group of girls won’t be relevant to the story tbh.

Lettie, Haze’s little cousin and Laurel’s little sister also hangs out with them sometimes, but being a year younger has her own friends - and is also very close with her cousin Findlay (Haze’s little brother). With the exception of Findlay and Spencer, all of these names mentioned so far are people with ‘abilities’ and that has a lot to do with why they ended up friends. Alderdale has this super tight knit supernatural community of all ages, but obviously all going to school together means they’ve ended up even closer. I’m quite excited about Matty and Isaac’s dynamic, they’re gonna be like ‘if Stazel had stayed platonic’ pretty much haha, but when Maisie returns Matty is suspicious af, whereas Isaac falls head over heels instantaneously so… conflict might just arise there. 

In terms of plotline, I’m the #worst at plotting to be honest. I write as I go along, I’ve got an end destination in sight, but how I’m gonna get there just works itself out on the way. Not an awful lot has changed, certain events have obviously so as not to be taking from Teen Wolf, but I think Paroxysm as a fanfiction was going to deviate quite a bit anyway from the main plotlines to focus on my own characters more anyway.
