After months of collecting, compiling and formatting, we are finally unveiling our biggest project to date:

INTRODUCING: The Interact-IF Database

In an effort to help readers find games and WIP projects following a certain tag, genre, theme or level of customization, as well as finding diverse authors of a variety of identities, we have created a database of primarily Tumblr-based IF projects!

This list has been put together with the help of the authors of the featured projects, who have provided us with information about their games. It will be updated regularly by the mods of this Tumblr.

THE EXIGENT SEASONS

A quiz from a magazine. A bored friend. His notepad, his dice, and altogether too much time until the rest of your friends arrive.

My new interactive fiction toy/game, THE EXIGENT SEASONS, is now available to either play in your browser or to download for use with any Glulx interpreter.

There's a frame story, but the game is mostly a big personality quiz: choose which path to take in a series of 10 crisis events, and you'll find out which of 33 possible futures you'll secure for your people. I want to hear your results!

(I get The Enlightened Age when I answer honestly. Kind of embarrassing that I don't get the best outcome in a test of my own design.)

You can now play my entry on this year’s IFComp, Extreme Omnivore: Text Edition, as well as dozens of other wonderful games of various lengths and styles. I’ll post my own review(s) once I’ve had a crack at this year’s offerrings.

It’s important to get beta testers when you’re developing a game...

...because sometimes @sqbr will ask “why can’t I throw the dice?” and you’ll end up teaching yourself how to use random number functions.

Hi everyone!

Over the past year, we have shared many interesting IF projects on this blog. With thousands of posts created, and the Tumblr search function not always being reliable, we wanted to provide a better alternative to help readers find what to read next.

In an effort to help readers find games with certain tags, genres, themes or level of customization, as well as finding diverse authors of a variety of identities, we are putting together a database of tumblr-based IF games and projects!

This central list will also help us create better recommendation lists and find games you may have been looking for.

Behind the scenes, we have tried compiling a list of projects we have shared the past year, but realized we were making a lot of assumptions about these games (eg: genre, themes, etc...). As we want to ensure the information on this database is correct, we want to reach out to fellow IF authors and dev out there to help us in this endeavour.

FAQ

- I have a project I want to share but I do not have a demo yet. Can I still fill in the form? Yes, please do! We have shared on this blog many WIPs without demos. We only ask that you may at least have some sort of introduction post.

- I have multiple projects I want to share. Can I fill in the form multiple times? You can fill in the form as many times as you have projects. We ask that you do not fill in the form multiple times for a single project. If there is an edit you want done, please reach out to the mods.

- The form asks me to share information about myself I am not comfortable to share but I still want to share my game. How can I do that? At the start of the form, you have the possibility to choose whether to enter information about yourself or about your game. If you choose the second option, you can bypass the author questions altogether.

- I want to be part of the List of Diverse Authors. How can I do that? You can fill in the Author info & Event participation section of the form.

- I gave consent to be part of the List of Diverse Authors/Featured Author Events, but I don't feel comfortable about this anymore. How can I delete my entry? You can reach out to the Mods and we will remove your information from any public list we may have.

- I have a game I want to share with you but I am not its author nor related in anyway to that project. Can I still fill in the form? Please, DO NOT fill in the form unless you are either the author of the game or have explicit permission from the author to fill it in.

Help me test my game!

Without going into too much details, I'm working on a game and I could use a hand or to help me test it, sometime within the next week or so (the first week of September). Here's all you need to know: It's a short, low-stress humorous game, playable in your browser. You can explore a small environment by typing in words. I need to reach you to send you a private link. When the game is ready, I can credit you as a tester (or not, if you prefer). Feel free to reblog this post or link the mirrored one.
