The twins whispered to each other, they walked into the kitchen and offered a smile to Lies.

He smiled back. "Girls. Would you like to help me?"

"Uhh, Sure." Ember said looking to her sister. "What are you making?"

"Brownies." He grinned

"Sure" Ashes spoke "What do you need us to do?"

He smiled and started guiding them through making brownies letting them make their own batter batches.

Ashes sucked in her top lip as she focused on what she was doing. "Nine this is more complicated than I thought."

"Relax sweetie. Let it flow."

"Let it flow? But I am still mixing." She responded still biting her lip, talking through the bite.

He step up behind her. "Relax your shoulders, don't beat it. Love it." He gently guides her hand

She forced herself to relax dropping her shoulders. "I will love it better once it is cooked." She mused.

He laughed and spoke to them both. "Cooking is a magic in and of itself. Food brings people together, can make the mood of the gathering and raise moods."

Embers leaned against the counter her batter down. "Aye, It is just easier if we use magic as well." The red haired one mused.

"Don't tell me you cheated." Ashes scolded.

"Indeed. I think you should make another batch without magic while I put this one in the oven."

She sighed and nodded. "Then let me finish this batch with magic as well?"

"Nay. This shall be finished with love. I bet you'll taste a difference."

She took the answer and pulled out what she needed for the new batch.

He smiled, watching her. The cooking lesson became part food magic lesson.

"Do you ever get to cook at the Diner?" Embers asked

"I do yes." He answered.

"I bet you are good at it."

"Alright lets get them in the pans."

he nodded and each slowly started purring them into the pans

"Alright." Ashes spoke putting her bowl down.

He took them and settled them into the oven taking the first batch out.

"How long have you been baking?" Embers asked

"Hmmm. A few years."

"I meant today"

"Oh...Hmmm. A few hours."

"A few hours? Father you should have called for assistance."

"Bah. I do this for a living children.." He kissed the tops of their heads. "And it a good way for me to clear my head.'

"Never the less." Ashes spoke. "You were hurt, yes healed not still. I would hate to see a relapse of pain and no one there to help you."

"I'm fine children. Truly."

The nodded and leaned against the counter waiting to the batches to cook. "We worry is all Father"

"I know darlings." He held them close.

They hugged him tightly "We wanted to find you for so long, we don’t want to loose you now that we have you."

He nuzzled them gently, nodding in understanding

Embers was the first to pull back. "We came at a bad time, we know that.... but we can not thank you enough."

"You two came at the right time darlings."

"I what universe." Ember said with a chuckle. "It was all of two weeks before things started happening

"But it gave us some time to make those connections before everything hit the fan."

"Even then, Shield was on you about things" ashes spoke looking at the ground. "We could have done a better job timing, Do out research before we knocked on your door."

Ashes turned and grabbed some herbs to make her own mix to help as Embers spoke. "Don't scratch at them."

"They itch." He stated plainly. "I don't remember Glut having horns...did she?" He studied the two. "Do I need to make sure I have things for you two when yours grow in?"

"Believe it or not you knew her young, she did have horns as she aged." Ember spoke. "But she taught us a few things about them." Ashes whispered a small spell over the herb paste and offered it.

"This should help."

"We were both young." He blinked at the paste before taking some and carefully applying it. "At the time I thought I was a pure asgardian."

"Mother thought you were too." The red haired one spoke. "In truth she did not tell us you were our father until it came out that you were not."

"Oh?" He asked. "How did she take me being a Jotun?"

"She was surprised. But in a way happier."

He cupped her cheek. "Happier?"

"We had tendencies as children that were too Jotun to be half Asgardian. Mother thought something was wrong with us for a long time." Embers spoke.

"And because of the nature of our magic when we were sick it was a guessing game to see what would help, which only confused Mother more.... When it was discovered your true nature everything made since, Mother did not feel so conflicted." Ashes explained.

His gaze softened. "I'm sorry children."

"You have nothing to be sorry for." They both said.

"Really Father, you have no blame." Embers finished

He hugged them to him.

They hugged back holding him tightly.

He smiles and nuzzles them

They smiled back. "She was a good woman, I think you would have been good friends with her" Ashes spoke

"I enjoyed my time with her." He admitted. "We would of been terrible together married. But as friends. We were good."

"Aye, we remember the end of the wars.... we were still little."

The girls looked at each other for a moment, "We did not know. We did not mean to strike a nerve." Ashes spoke

"I'd hoped that I would get to see her.."

"Did you..... at all?"

He shook his head. "Surtur kept her close because of her abilities."

They nodded understanding. "Surtur was nice to us. It is so strange to look back at the past in another perspective."

"I am glad he was kind to you two."

Ashes chuckled. "He would come around often actually. I will never forget the talk he gave Ember when she admitted to liking someone."

Ember rolled her eyes

"Sounds like he wanted to be your father."

"Mother never married and Surtur was old fashioned in his ways. But she knew when to stop him." Embers spoke. "He was a caring man, there when needed."

"...I should speak to him one day." He mused.

"Oh no...." Ashes spoke wide eyes. "About what?"

"Just things. Don't worry about it." He smiled, ruffling their hair. "I'll go wearing the color of peace."

Ashes looked to Embers. "find a way to BURN all the baby photos" She teased

"Don't test it, Ember's fire is amazingly controlled, she could find away."

Ember chuckled. "I just have to be on the same realm."

Loki laughed. "Everyone knows me as the god of lies and tricks my darlings. But there's another thing I am god of."

"Fire, aye." Ember chuckled. "As strange as it sounds when I was little and started training I knew you were the god of fire."

"She wanted to be just like you. Then we found out you were our father." Ashes said offering a smile "I am ratting out all your secrets today it seems, Embers"

He smiled at them and went to get the brownies out.

"Two can play that game sister dear." Embers said

Loki laughed

"Be glad you did not know is as children. We would fight so much, I would almost burn the house down and Ashes would nearly drown us in ash."

"Well I'm glad you two grew out of that." He smiled

"Perhaps." Ashes spoke. "We know how to localize our attacks now."

"And we would never do it on anyone else but each other. Unless family was in danger." Ember spoke.

"We wanted to burn what’s his face to helhime and back." Ashes muttered talking about Loki's attacker.

He gives them a sad look.

"Frigga stopped us from going, Said we would have put ourselves in danger."

"She was right."

"Still" Ember said. "We could have done something to help you."

"I'll get it from the ice chest." ashes said popping the rest if the current brownie into her mouth.

"We'll be making some from scratch."

"You are just in a cooking moon" Embers mused

Ember reached out and helped him. "What brought this on? Just wanting to be on your feet?"

He nodded.

"Does Image know you have been cooking so much?" She chuckled

They scoffed and Ashes moved to sit on the counter.

He started mixing to together everything."

"Let me help" Embers said standing next to him.

He looked over and explained what he was doing

Embers paused in her grinding and shook her arms out. "Ashes is the healer out of the two of us."

"You should ask Frigga for help in learning."

She paused before giving a small nod. "I might.... Might wait till she is normal again but I might."

"We know. The stories of Frigga and you travel you know, Though I have to ask.... Did you really Dress Thor up as a bride to get his weapon back?"

He pulls one out from his mage space and hands it to her. "Here"
