back at artist will x writer mike (got a little carried away because muse x muse byler my beloved)
will always takes the late night train/subway and sketches everyone and everything to pass the time. has a designated travel sketchbook.
one day the prettiest man he’s ever seen sits across from him and will is trying so hard not to stare. or to blush. he fails miserably. will recons he might won’t see him again, like many people in the pages of his sketchbook, so he draws him too.
next day, the beautiful stranger is back. he’s wearing glasses now and will wants to die. he’s writing something. will wants to know what he writes, wants to know his name.
‘M.W.’ he reads on his black journal when he’s not looking. doodles it on a little heart on a corner. get a grip, byers.
weeks go by and will’s ‘travel’ sketchbook has lost its title because will hasn’t been able to draw anyone else. this is getting ridiculous.
next time he sees him, will’s anxiety makes him wait till the very last minute before the other man’s stop to say something. bad idea. he’s about to introduce himself when the whole wagon shakes violently and the lights go off for a moment.
will goes flying right into the beautiful stranger’s chest. who’s hands are immediately on his waist, making sure he’s alright.
will starts apologizing and picking up his stuff as fast as he can because how fucking embarrassing. great. the man before will tells him there’s nothing to be sorry for and now he’s helping him and now he’s smiling at him and god, his own sketches didn’t do him any justice.
they’re at his stop now. well. it was worth a shot. “i’m mike, by the way.” or maybe not.
mike. ‘M.W.’
will smiles all the way home. that’s till he opens his bag, looking for his sketchbook, to find a black journal.
‘M.W.’
oh my god.
