dig deep
within yourself
& be honest with what u find.
welcome it in whatever form it comes in
face it
don't resist it.
give her a name if u will
your own "egoic" friend
watch her
understand her
ask her what she needs?
but don't judge her...she needs your compassion,nurturing & trust
once you've fully met your "new" friend
reintegrate her into who you've become
I love how the more I go through processing trauma on a base level the more I realize that a majority of the splits occurred during high school specifically then later college. But of course that’s just recognizable splits, one’s that have been recorded in one way or another and parts that have been solidly around since those times.
It makes sense too why we never fully came to terms with it until mid college. Dissociative barriers and denial makes it covert and when there’s amnesia there’s dissociation around amnesia, making it seem like nothing was forgotten at all or the things forgotten get downplayed as so minor that it’s disregarded entirely.
There’s some parts still struggling with denial about having a dissociative disorder since “we would have known before now” or “it would have formed earlier” when in fact both of those things are true, just not for the alters in question. If one of our alters was still dormant we probably would still not know just how our timeline of having a system goes.

guys guys you won’t guess what happened at therapy. okay okay so. my therapist said that we’re going to be doing parts-work. at first I was like. “whats that” so she explained it to me and I was like “neat”
*quick explanation of parts-work: its basically doing exercises to figure out who is apart of your family system! Almost everyone does it, too. It’s when your brain goes “haha we have too many things to do in too many places, I’m going to create roles!” and then, whenever you’re in a certain place or situation, your brain can go “oh! it’s time to be more productive” or “we can’t handle this, disassociate! now!” there are different “severities” for different people based off of trauma or personal experiences*
so now I’m going to do a bit of research on myself to figure out my parts!! I already figured out a few, but this explains why I sometimes say “us, we, you, them” instead of “me, I”
Love sorrow. She is yours now, and you must
take care of what has been
given. Brush her hair, help her
into her little coat, hold her hand,
especially when crossing a street. For, think,
what if you should lose her? Then you would be
sorrow yourself; her drawn face, her sleeplessness
would be yours. Take care, touch
her forehead that she feel herself not so
utterly alone. And smile, that she does not
altogether forget the world before the lesson.
Have patience in abundance. And do not
ever lie or ever leave her even for a moment
by herself, which is to say, possibly, again,
abandoned. She is strange, mute, difficult,
sometimes unmanageable but, remember, she is a child.
little by little she relaxes; she looks about her;
And amazing things can happen. And you may see,
as the two of you go
walking together in the morning light, how
she begins to grow.
