Jon Stewart's response to the "Both Sides" nonsense from his guest Jenin Younes was great. I would have just started yelling at that point honestly. He actually managed to keep it as an earnest disagreement sans table flipping. His response starts at (12:43) in the interview.

Stewart: "I mean the only thing about that is, only one side really though has the guns, and the authority. Cause it's, you know, when I look at, when I look at that video, I don't see both sides in a dogmatic stance. I see a woman, maybe naive, sitting in a car thinking she has to do something and she's going to block something and a wildly extreme overreaction to that small act of defiance. And then and then, like, I just, when they say "She was radicalized" I just think, well, there are masked gunmen in her neighborhood who she's read about taking 17 year old kids and pulling them off the streets. That wasn't... it didn't feel like, I'm used to, I know what a terrorist attack looks like.

Younes: "Yeah, um, that was not a terrorist attack."

Stewart: "Right."

Game design is hard, especially if you're just starting out, especially if you're expecting to have to do it all by yourself, especially if... the list goes on and on. So I'm making this post for myself.

From about 4:28 to 6:40, Tom Happ gives some insight into his creative process. Transcript as follows:

"I'd say to myself, like, 'This is just gonna be so much work.' Like, I envisioned the mountain of work that it takes to continue with this for another 4 years or however long it might have taken.

"So, I think, like, I made this mental adjustment where, like, I figured out, if I can make sure that whatever I'm currently working at is enjoyable and gives me good feedback from day to day, and then I could just keep that on repeat until I'm done, it would be a lot more doable. So I would be like, I planned it out, and that's kind of how I came up with this process of, where I would do the environments first and then do the animations, and then do another thing and not go back and forth, because you know exactly what you're gonna do next, and you can be thinking like, 'I have more of these ideas for what I'm gonna do tomorrow,' and you get better at it as you go, as you do that one thing.

"That kept me from ever getting into a point where I'm like, 'Ah, man, I'm slogging through, uh, you know, collision physics, and I still have to do all the art for, like, eight more areas of the game that are huge.' Whereas this was more like, 'Okay, I'm done with all the environment art, now I have the monsters.' If I ever felt like, 'Ah, man, there's too many monsters in this,' I could be like, 'but all the environment art is done, I can just slap that right in there and it's ready to go.' It kind of, like, built on itself, you know what I mean? The further you went, the more pieces you had and the more easier [sic] it was gonna get when you get to the final stage and you're doing the level design.

"The game is almost its own thing, you know, its own entity, outside of me, as opposed to, like, something I designed, even though I did design it. It started to feel less and less like something I was just putting together in a way that happened to make sense, and more to be like something that, it was kind of happening and I was just reporting on what I saw or thought, you know?"

c!Owen: "The world grew tired of bloodshed.  And when all you're good for is violence, when you've been breed into a killing machine.  An agent of peace will toss you to the side like a spent torch."

[Turns back and continues walking, jumping on top an elevated ledge before stopping to face flowing lava past him.]

c!Owen: "And you. I can't imagine you found yourself here-"

[Turns around, higher now to stare down upon Apo, the hornless demon's head bowed down, staring at the ground away from Owen.]

c!Owen: "-by pure misfortune alone."

I am okay totally not violently convulsing over the casual self-dehumanization.  Admitting that he felt useful when he had a purpose he would have been okay.  Associating it with being "adored", being loved. That he was alright being a "killing machine" for the flawed ideals driven into his head.  Only voicing some distress more over the fact he had been "tossed to the side," abandoned by the people that cultivated the hatred in him.  The people who allowed him only to be a vengeful monster.

Jensen: “yeah, I get ‘groomed up.’ And that’s coming up here in a couple of weeks so. Unfortunate, fortunate, I don’t know. I’ve gotten used to it, so I’m probably gonna miss it.”

Charlie (who continuously pops in and out): “you’re gonna mourn it — you’re gonna mourn the beard? *overlap of voices* Like lay it to rest.”

Jensen: “I’m gonna put it in a ziploc and just keep it in the fridge.”

Dream first starts talking to Ranboo at approximately 1:46:00 in Ranboo’s “Everything will be fine” stream:

Dream: Hello

Ranboo: Oh... so you’ve come here to my panic room now

Dream: I have

At the end of Dream’s interaction with Ranboo at about 1:53:00:

Ranboo: If I can’t rely on the memory book, then what can I rely on?

Dream: I don’t know. Not yourself, I’m not even real

Ranboo: What do you mean you’re not real?

*silence*

Ranboo: He’s not real, he wasn’t real, it wasn’t real. That entire time...

When Dream first starts talking to Ranboo, Ranboo says that Dream made it to his panic room. Dream isn’t even in the game, much less anywhere near the panic room. Dream is not there.

At the end of their discussion, Ranboo questions himself and his memory book. Dream says that he isn’t real and Ranboo realizes that Dream was never there.

This means one of three things:

c!Dream* has the ability to whisper in people’s minds even when he isn’t in the world. This is very likely considering Dream’s unknown species and life count. If Dream is a Dreamon or possessed by a Dreamon, he theoretically could influence other people from very far away.

Dream was part of c!Ranboo’s internal monologue and Ranboo just convinced himself that he blew up the community house. Very possible because Ranboo knows that he helped Tommy burn George’s house. It wouldn’t be to far fetched for Ranboo to help Tommy again.

Dream was there, and was just messing with Ranboo. It’s Dream, what more can I say

I am very interested to see how this is explained and I really hope that c!Dream isn’t that powerful because it doesn’t bode well for the future of the others on the server

From 1:07:03 to 1:11:54. I wanted a transcript I could analyse, because they were clearly being tactful and avoiding mentioning specific beliefs that had changed, and so I made one myself. It’s not perfect though. I left out a lot of filler words (like um) and times they repeated words to make it easier to read.

Rhett: “So far in my life the way that I view the world has gone through very drastic upheavals and changes. I’m less certain about a whole host of things than I ever was when I was 20 years old. When I was 20 I had just a very particular understanding of so many things and I was so sure that I was right. I remember sitting around and actually having the thought of that I pretty much I think I know the right thing about the most important things.”

Link: “Yeah, I was there for that.”

Rhett: “I was like, I think I understand the basics of the most important truths of the universe. That’s a very fortunate position to be in, I said to myself. I did not actually say this out loud, but I remember having thoughts like that. And then in over the past 20 years I look back at that 20 year old and I’m like, what an idiot, you know?” 

Link: “Let’s not even keep it in the 20′s, because I’ll say it’s something that it’s part of both our experiences, it’s not something that just shortly after that we’ve checked out of. It’s been quite a process between 20 and 40.”

Rhett: “Yeah, it continues to this day. That’s a weird place to be, to feel like you are entering into your forties. Now, there is a lot of stability in my life, you know with even the soft of unpredictable nature of what we do as a career. There is a lot of stability in what we’ve kind of built up, and that stability has increased exponentially just in the past 5 years. In a way that it did not. There was a lot of uncertainty, there is still a whole lot of uncertainty, but there is a reasonable certainty that we’re going to be OK. We don’t know exactly what our job is going to look like 5 years from now, but probably going to be OK. Probably not going to be like thumbing down the road. You know what I mean?

Link: “Unless it makes for a good video or...”

Rhett: “...as a character. But I’ve never been less certain about a lot of different things and more open to like different peoples perspectives and like can hear somebody say something and be like ah that’s a good point, ah that’s a good point as well. This is difficult to parse. And I think that in some ways that I think that this next generation, like our kids, are growing up in the midst of that. We kind of grew up in a place where you were not exposed to anything that challenged your worldview and it was very tight and it was very tidy. And then we were this generation that got introduced through the Internet to all kinds of different thoughts about different things and it began to kinda change the way that we thought about that foundation. But I think that our children” (Link cuts him off)

Link: “Which made our initial reaction to it something that was more about maintaining the tidiness in the face of the Internet, basically.” 

Rhett (with Link joining in): “Batten down the hatches”

Link continues: ‘Whereas our kids, you know,”

Rhett: “There are no hatches.”

Link continues: “when you grow up in an environment where there is no way not to be exposed to almost everything on Earth just by virtue of the Internet. As much as you know you put up healthy boundaries and things like that. Yeah absolutely, it’s a different world. Oh he sounds old. But it’s uh, what are you getting at? Maybe you are getting at...”

Rhett: “I’m just saying it’s another observation I’ve made about myself.”

Link: “...The one thing we can have, that a 20 year old poker player can’t have, is wisdom. Now, you don’t automatically have it, and I’m not saying that we have it but I aspire to that, and that is the advantage that old farts can have, right?”
