Our past has a way of taunting us, poking us, even tormenting us when we least expect it. Sometimes we have to poke it back. Send it back to where it belongs...the past. I know it can be hard, believe you me. But the place of healing is when we take the power away from our past and realise that the past cannot be changed but instead. The real power is when we can walk away and look forward, and accept the past. Over Coming A War Within us

The emotions over coming us

While negative energies crossing our paths

making this all hard to express...

Holding it in all that needs to be said

Hoping one day for this hurt to end..

Treating others with disrespect

Not seeing the pain that has been

formed from years of distress

How can others point the finger

when they do not know the facts

Torturing others due to their past mistakes..

This can not continue

Honest with my past mistakes

Oh how I wish I could of said no

Oh how I wish I knew what would go wrong

Hurting my insides with meaningless fun

Hurting my changes of real love

I'm thankful god spared my life that day

Giving me another chance at this game

Releasing the Inner demons

I thought I was finally free from the demon inside

The demon that has hidden for years now,

A strong being that made me numb

An entity that I let over power me for way too long.

Past memories that were once there

flooding my mind

holding for dear life

then finally losing its power over me

once I got that last call.

Then like a weight was lifted

now losing its strong hold and finally

I'm free!

Free of the past

Free of the numbness

Free to finally be who I was meant to be!

Now more than ever

as an adult I’ve tried to put the past aside

And look towards my present.

I think constantly of those memories

The memories of self sabotage

The memories of self harm

The moments I thought this would last forever

All gone to dust

Now forever a memory

The hurt is their but I will no longer let it Brew

In me like a burden

This will no longer play a part in my life

You will no longer be a part of my heart

You will not be apart of my future

For no one knows what the future may hold.

I do know one thing, I will succeed and move

When pride takes control

Dwelling in my thoughts

reminiscing from the past;

sure can rewrite my future

while I cant rewrite my past.

Parents holding onto resentment

while I change my mindset and walk in a different direction;

I can't help but question their actions,

I don’t want pride to ruin my chances for a better life.

Why let pride decide my path?

Praying I never fall into this temptation of pointing fingers,

dwelling in the past, letting this affect my soul.

I see so much hurt in their lives,

letting this become a metal strain

while pride keeps roaming around in their heads ;

causing irritable behavior that I pray won’t hinder them forever.

This inspired a fire in me to never let past failures consume my chances

to live a happy life, full of blessings from above.

Past Memories (Revised Edition)

Childhood Friendships can be an intriguing thing,

We meet people by chance,

yet not realizing the bigger picture.

In my experience, I met someone long ago

we met through our parents;

someone I would have never thought I'd see a future with.

We used to hang out at parties or have play dates,

once we got older we grew apart.

I even forgot he lived in the same area as me;

then years later finding them through work and reliving those

childhood memories once more.

Afraid I would ruin my friendship I left it alone,

letting life run its course, I thought for sure things would

be as if I were in a romantic comedy,

the long lost boy falling in love with his childhood friend,

Reality played the game while the boy played my heart;

and we were no longer the childhood friends I once knew.

In the past, I felt as if this connection would have been it for me

I would find the love I'd dream about since I was little,

I feel sorry for that young naive girl who thought this would be it

the boy next door soon became the boy I used to know.

thankfully it showed me a different perspective and this girl grew up

with a new dream, finding salvation and a real love that will last forever.
