Our past has a way of taunting us, poking us, even tormenting us when we least expect it. Sometimes we have to poke it back. Send it back to where it belongs...the past. I know it can be hard, believe you me. But the place of healing is when we take the power away from our past and realise that the past cannot be changed but instead. The real power is when we can walk away and look forward, and accept the past. Years ago when I was in school I was given this advice and it always stuck with me. I was badly bullied at the time by the school bully and I was told this by a friend, (I’ll share his story below as well). Whatever they say about you whether it’s to your face or behind your back. What a bully thinks of you is NOYB. “None Of Your Business”. I began working on not caring what others think and that was where I found my strength and confidence. I’ll talk more about it in my upcoming confidence course but for now I’ll leave you with this, you cannot control what people think about you. Some people will like you others not so much but always remember that peoples opinions of you is NOYB and shake it off. I discovered the less I cared what people thought of me, the more calm and content I was. The friend who shared it with me had himself been bullied badly, he had a thyroid issue and so he was quite swollen at times. He soon realised that NOYB is a much happier way to be. Having a trusted few whom you can rely and call on for feedback is key, but protect yourself from anyone whom may not have your best interest at heart. A quote I’ve had to speak to myself at times, especially in my younger years. Can you relate? The inner voice that says rest is bad? Or perfect is the only way? . You have this goal you really want to achieve. Maybe it’s raising a child or a job. There’ll be good days and bad days. Days you get tired with perhaps little progress. We can’t stop somethings from happening, although that would be great. A story of a man by he name Victor Frankl and how after surviving a concentration camp realised that no matter what we face we always have the freedom to choose. To choose how we react even in prison when freedom is gone and death all around. We have the freedom inside to choose how we react. Our emotions get triggered by our perspective on the situation.
