Military families

This moment from "We Were Never" had me in tears.

I didn't know anything about military families before Andi Mack and I love that they brought it up. It was also amazing to see Buffy's and Pat's relationship as well as the GHC in action.

2.12, “We Were Never” - Pat Returns

This was another scene they had built towards for like a season and a half.

I don’t have a ton to add to this because there isn’t a whole ton to it.

The scene is simple and very sweet. The dialogue is only a few words. It’s mostly about letting the emotion from the actors carry it and they do an excellent job.

The real blow comes when Buffy calls Pat “Mommy.” All of Buffy’s desire to be stoic, to keep a brave face, it’s washed away in an instant. She’s reunited with her mother and, for the moment, doesn’t need to be this fierce warrior anymore. She just gets to be her mother’s daughter.

Why do you think none of the Andi Mack kids had siblings?

I think there are good in universe reasons why the GHC don’t have siblings. Andi thinks Bex is her much older sister and the sixteen odd year gap between them is meant to get the audience thinking about what’s going on with the Mack family. If Celia has another child than that means there’s either another person in on the lie or someone else who has been lied to their whole life; either way it’s just too much for the show to deal with. 

Pat Driscoll is still active duty military so she’s probably not much older than Bex and likely had Buffy in her early twenties. Her semi-frequent deployments easily explain why she never had other kids. Norman and Leslie are both much closer to Celia’s age and are likely in their late forties to early fifties. They both have doctorates so they must have been in school long enough to get their PhD's and advanced educational attainment is strongly correlated with smaller family sizes.  They likely had Cyrus in their mid thirties and since Cyrus said in S1 that his parents were worried they had damaged him in their bitter divorce he must have been old enough to actually have memories of it so it’s likely that the Goodman’s were already past 40 when they divorced which made it much less likely they’d even want to try for another kid with their new spouses. 

As for Jonah, it’s clear that the writers never had anything planned for his family which is why they had Coco Angel play Judy Beck and just had her on for a gag in the second to last episode of the entire series, so Jonah having a sibling would have been pointless anyways. There’s no need for the major recurring characters like TJ or Amber (K*ppen S*blings stans don’t interact) or Marty or Walker to have siblings and it was wise of the show not to bring in too many young child actors as they really don’t add much to the show as we saw with Morgan and Shawn
