(July 10, PEAB server) Not a single person, including the one bringing it up, gave any indication of praying for the site's downfall. And yet the conversations are shut down anyway because the ardent defenders aren't willing to let anyone even DISCUSS these legitimate critiques against the site or what the evidence is, especially after several people indicated they would feel differently about supporting the site if the allegations were proven true (which they since have been for all intents and purposes). Those people have a right to the information available to decide for themselves whether this is a project they want to continue to support. No one is demanding anyone rescind their support, just that they be allowed to decide for themselves based on all of the information available.

So who's going to be the brave person to bring the conversation back up in the main discord or forums now that there's more evidence AI coding actually is involved? Give them a chance to prove they aren't the censorious liars they are being perceived as. Perhaps any individual item from the growing list could be discounted, as is always the case with AI creations, but eventually the circumstantial evidence becomes overwhelming. The current evidence from salt so far (please comment if I missed something): - EMOJIS in the coding - The sheer number of nuxt files - Loading everything on every page every time instead of calling things dynamically - Cross-site references to either nothing or themselves - The number of paints occurring per second, which has been confirmed to be a result of nonsensical coding decisions like deleting and readding cat pictures with every XHR request sent - The delays in fixing relatively straightforward bugs, like the marble rolling error, which should have been as easy as correcting a table. - The way unrelated and-or large features break with each update, beyond standard introduction of small new bugs we see with large updates in most websites/petsites. - Lead dev has admitted to using generative AI for his company's own projects, including generating artwork for games, website design, and to perform basic coding on their behalf. His company has been publicly pro-AI since at least 2021 and continuing to the present. - Blue's attempt to obscure the connection with the company and it's owner, who is the lead dev for PB and is the voice behind the pro-AI blog posts on his company's site.

As someone that dropped hundreds on this site and hundreds on the kickstarter, i am judging the hell outta the lying and ai usage. Sent in a ticket to share my thoughts to the devs and im just so pissed.

This post is so disingenuous that I don’t have words. Did we even look at the same website or the same article? It literally has a section on the CKC website about integrating chatgpt into websites. Let me give you a bonker direct quote from one of their software engineers from that article.

We will all be AI in the future but AI is a consciousness in computers that we’ll be able to learn and think for itself.”

This will probably get buried because anti pawborough stuff is more hot on a salt blog, but if anyone actually read the article that was being sited as evidence, or the company's website, you would see that the company never said they support GENERATIVE AI. They support AI for sure, but not the kind that generates creative work.

Basic spell/grammar check is AI, but not generative AI. It detects words that aren't in the dictionary and uses the letters to guess what you mean. It detects words that are correct but if they are surrounded by words that don't make sense, it uses common grammatical errors to suggest what was meant to be said.

In the article interviewing the owners of the company that Pawborough originally chose to work with, the owner that is still currently working with Pawborough said that he praised the idea of writing code for an AI that would be able to check other code for errors. Aka a spell/grammar check for code. Not an AI that would be able to write code from scratch.

On the website for the company, the project they were producing an AI model for is Trailhead. If you visit Trailhead's website, it specifically states that the AI they are creating is an engineering design aid. Keep in mind engineering design is NOT the same as architectural design or product design. Engineering design's purpose is to find the most efficient solution to a problem. The AI model is supposed to look at data you give it in order to help guide programs that already generate possible engineering designs into finding the most efficient answer faster, with less computing time and waste. It's also to note that while it would be good to have someone who exists to proofread code, it is a running joke among programmers that code is so fickle that the moment you squish one bug, several others pop up in its place like a hydra. While I agree that the marble issue took unreasonably long to fix, the bug with the cats being listed on the market was fixed super fast.

I'm reading old PB AI tea on ARR and this comment slapped me in the mouth: "PB fans sold me on this game with how open and honest the devs' communication is, but I am seeing the exact opposite here. And a bunch of fans trying to help them get away with not addressing it." Oh my god nothing has changed.

I don’t know why some people on here act as if because AI is “inevitable” that means we just have to begrudgingly welcome it into PB. Nobody is forcing them to use AI code. Isn’t that the point of indie? That the developers are free to do whatever they want? Some of you have no backbone or principles I swear
