i'm sure there's something more accurate out there somewhere, but out of curiosity i did a quick comparison between PC and PS5 captures.
this is a cutscene with baked-in lighting -
the PC version has the built-in vignette disabled which definitely shows around the edges. but even still, the differences are more noticeable than i thought they'd be. the PS5 has quite a bit more contrast with deeper shadows and darker midtones.
i like the look of the PS5 images. i always wondered if there was some extra sauce they added to their captures. i think PS5 shots tend to look a bit softer and more flattering than PC, at least before editing.
a few more...
none of these are cutscenes so the lighting conditions are going to be very different.
on this one, i think the hair looks better on PS5 but the mask and water textures look better on PC. huge differences in color but i think that's mostly the lighting.
aloy's position is different and rotated, but the camera is in the same place and the lighting is the same since it's underground. on PS5, you can definitely see the darker tones on the ground and water.
the FOV and lighting are different, but you can see that softer tone in the PS5
this is a very non-scientific comparison, mostly just for curiosity. these are the original, unedited shots. the PS5 is the standard non-Pro model, and the PC version is running at max settings.
the more i hear PC gamers talk, the more i want to go play on my console. which is a shame, because that means goodbye games i DO play on PC... but those assholes just make me want to avoid being associated with them
I saw the game is on sale for PlayStation 4, but I'm also considering getting the game on PC via Steam, which usually has sales for all kinds of games.
Which is the better platform to play the game on? Console or PC? Give reasons if possible, more along what the game offers and less on the obvious like being able to mod on PC.
What's cheaper, building a computer or buying a used console? I am wondering what route do I need to start saving for so that when Black Friday hits, I can buy either or to play Fallout 4 + its DLCs + mods. Looking to save up maybe just below $200 USD. I already blew $999 USD last year for a Surface Pro 4 that will pretty much be my "everything" for my pre-pharmacy studies, but I've found out that it may not be enough to handle Fallout 4.
I want to play Inquisition again, but since I've played it on console every other time I've done it, I want to play it on PC. Unfortunately, I feel a little put off because I want to play it with mods and I'm kind of scared I'll like that more

It honestly depends on the game. But I think in general, I prefer consoles. I like the big screen experience, sitting on a couch, and not being so close to the screen.
In games where you have to control a lot of little factors, PCs are better. But games where your avatar is running around and attacking things, consoles are more fun for me!
