Every now and then Houston’s upgrades to the their get away van need extra testing before letting it go on a run.
Luckily for him, Twitch does illegal drag racing in his free time.
So there where many long nights of exciting races that lead groggy mornings for the Ghost.
After all, he and his brother always had coffee. Houston hated breaking habits, so of course he stayed up a little longer.
‘Just a cup or two, then I’ll sleep’
This thought process lead him to setting almost nodding off as Dallas poured him some coffee.
He was more tired than he thought, his speech pattern reverting to younger days. After all he was having coffee with his brother. Just like he was about to go work at the range. But first he and his enjoyed a cup of joe while sitting next to each other.
A moment of quite understanding.
The first time this happened was quite funny for the one’s who didn’t know Dallas and Houston’s birth city.
So when Chains asked if he’d seen where the ammo bags from last and he responded with
“Over der by the front room’s. Dere’s an empty can of pop next to it.”
Chains couldn’t help but give an amused chuckle.
That was an accent he hadn’t heard from the younger Steele in a while.
Wick watched with fascination. More than familiar with accents coming out when he was tired himself. Just a surprise of something more north coming from the brother of a man he assumed was Texan. Maybe they where born in different places. Moving states did have benefits. The newer member of the gang at the time reasoned to him chuckling along as well.
His friend’s amusement was infectious.
Houston was too tired to care why he was laughing. Instead leaning into the tired fuzz around his head. It felt nice. He’d just close his eyes. But he’d keep his mind awake. Honey covered lies from the brain where always nice. He wouldn’t keep his eyes close for long.
Dallas watched as his brother slowly leaned on and fell asleep on the older brother’s arm..
Dallas would have to wake him up when he needed to move, but that would be later. He didn’t have the heart to move him this time. Letting the heavy head on rest arm stay there for a bit instead.
It was the first time he’d seen his brother fully relax around him since getting to D.C. so maybe a little bit of laziness was allowed.
It was only when it became habit, he did start thinking about shaking him awake...
