“‘Flag?’ Like Rick Flag?” Chris asked, eyes widening. You nodded and he sucked his teeth. “Man, I just want to say I’m sorry for your loss. Flag was a good man. We did good work together in Corto Maltese, I miss that guy.” He spewed all sorts of comforting words.

“I was on Task Force X, too.” You responded flatly, leaning back in your chair with your arms crossed.

“Oh, so you know…” Chris’s cheeks went red and he looked around the room of disapproving faces.

“That you murdered my brother? Yeah, I know.” Your glare was terrifying, and completely warranted. “If I had it my way, I’d have detonated that bomb in your neck out of spite. Unfortunately, Waller still signs my checks and she said you’re still an asset.”

“You’re still getting paper checks? Why not get direct deposit? Probably a lot easier.” Economos chimed in to cut the tension and everyone turned their attention to him.

“Shut the fuck up.”
