I love merthur. They are the type of soulmate troupe I die for.

But after reading a lot of merthur fanfiction, I’m on the verge of hating Arthur’s character. Merlin just has to work so hard, even in the good ones, and most authors don’t even seem to realize that their manservant and prince relationship doesn’t work when it turns romantic. Arthur needs to change, he can’t treat his lover as a servant. And he freaking needs to grow up and learn how to deal with emotions and be there for Merlin. Else it won’t work!

Honestly, I like merthur, probably will always ship it, but at this point I just want to grab Merlin and shove him at Mordred so he can feel what it is to be loved, emotionally supported, and to hear words of appreciation... I certainly don’t think they are soulmates, in fact, I think Merlin is far from what Mordred needs, but I can’t take it anymore. I’m going Merdred.

What I have learned from this is that soulmates doesn’t automatically equal happy ending, even when soulmates, the actual people in the relationship still need to grow, and evolve, in order to become the true soulmate they were intended to be.

Sooooo, Gift of the Night Fury, do you think Hiccup did that mating flight knowing it was the completion of the courting ritual or? Him somehow? Doing that for the first time? Without prompting?

I’m all for the “Hiccup is a genius but also a complete dumbass that isn’t aware he has already been mated for years until…”

But come on. There is no way he suddenly does a mating flight, right after mating season, after his dragon, who left, not to find a mate like all the other dragons, but instead to get him a courting gift the precious helmet that he lost, WITHOUT FUCKING KNOWING WHAT HE IS DOING.

Seriously, Hiccup 100% knew what Toothless meant. And 100% reciprocated.

You know how everyone seems mad about the new Snow White movie and saying her being white was important as she was supposed to have skin as white as snow? Well, all I can think about is how cool it would have been if they really leaned into it and made a Snow White movie set in old Japan. I mean talk about snow white skin, red lips, and pitch black hair being the epitome of beauty.

I like diversity and done like this it would have been so interesting. If they wanted they could also probably have switched dwarfs with a magical creature of Japan, instead of what forced sensitivity/diversity hell this movie has going on. (What actually bothers me about the movie)

Wouldn’t that have been so cool?

After all the Merlin fanfics I have now read, I’m genuinely surprised that none of them ever considers that Morgana didn’t turn evil naturally. It literally says that her bitterness spreads like a disease and is consuming her in the show. That and after what happened to both Gwen, and Uther, but especially Gwen, it’s pretty much canon substext what happened to Morgana.

Now, it is possible that the exact thing happened to Morgana that year she was gone as it did to Gwen, but personally what I think Morgause did was more subtle. She didn’t intend to make her a mindless puppet, she simply wanted to induce her need for revenge, to feed her bitterness.

Morgana isn’t stupid, she would realize something was wrong, she would have to be locked up. Except. Maybe she didn’t?

Do you remember that bracelet Morgause gave her? The one that is to give her a dreamless night? It’s entirely possible a piece was hidden in it, but more possible, is that it was hidden in her bed. Morgana had all the induced dreams, the ones showing her the hate of those around her, what they would do to her if they found out. What Merlin did. All bad things, all burnings she witnessed. How much Arthur was Uther’s child. And. She never remembered them come morning.

But she remembered a growing bitterness.

I just saw The Croods 2, and I was so pleasantly surprised.

*Spoiler warning*

When Dawn was introduced I fully expected it (with a disappointed “so it’s this direction they’re going huh”) to go into jealousy and hostility and for the movie to pit them completely against each other. But instead they put them together. And I shouldn’t have, but I was so surprised! She literally was so happy the first time she saw her and just, ahhh, it’s so refreshing! I didn’t even know I needed this before I saw it.

Seriously, they always pit the girls against each other in movies, and you almost never see girls just being friends, especially when a guy is involved. They managed to do the love triangle trope without them suddenly seeing the other as a threat and treating the other as evil. And it felt so much more natural!

It suddenly made all those movies feel so wrong and off and you really see how much they usually keep women from each other. The scene when they went over the wall was amazing and I love it!

Gah, I really love this so much!!!

The jealousy trope is dead, long live girl-friends!

I was going to say Toothless seems extremely high/drugged in httyd 3, with his irises never contracting and all, even in dangerous situations.

But the sad thing is, I can’t. Toothless from httyd 1 & 2 would never act that way, never disregard Hiccup like he did, no matter how high/drugged/poisoned he was.

That is how badly they butchered our boy in httyd 3.

I’ve seen people say that now that Katara’s actress is 15 and Zuko’s 19, Zutara can’t happen.

I disagree.

No, hear me out. I agree that making her actress perform kiss and sex scenes would be problematic, but Zutara never needed that. Actually, I prefer it without them. Zutara is so much more than a few kisses and blushes—It’s symbolism, foreshadowing, yin and yang; It’s soulmates.

In the end, what makes Zutara, Zutara, is how the characters interact, how they bring out the best in each other and are able to support each other. Hell, the first time Katara truly let loose and allowed herself cry was when talking to Zuko in the catacombs.

They share things with each other they have with no one else, they don’t just hear, they listen. Who tracked down her mother’s murder and let Katara find closure? Zuko. Who stood by Zuko and reassured him when he feared Ihro would reject him like his father had? Katara. They stand by each other no matter what. Even when Katara hated him, he saved her when the temple collapsed (and he did so without ever touching her, take a closer look, he is grabbing his own wrist!!). And even though she hated him, she was the first to reach out her hand to catch him when he was falling.

They never kiss, they never blush, yet Zutara stays strong.

There is a reason for that. There is so much in canon, that you don’t have to change much to get the perfect Zutara end. I would love even more interaction between them, but honestly, all that needs to be changed is the last episode. Merely remove the sudden Mai scene and exchange the Aang make out session with Katara and Zuko sitting in the palace garden having a heartfelt conversation about the future and how different the world will be, maybe end with them holding hands and smiling at each other.

That is it. You can remove all kiss, sex or blush scenes and the ship is still as strong as ever. On the other hand, the Kataangers are in trouble. Aang’s actor is 12. They obviously can’t have kiss or sex scenes between a 12 and 15 year old. They also can’t make Katara blush like they could when animated. So, what happens when you remove all non-consensual kisses and blushes? You get Katara acting as Aang’s mom. That, that is pretty much it? Right? I mean, correct me if I’m wrong.

Fandom I need your help!

I have a name stuck in my head and I can’t for the life of me connect it to a character, or possibly place, but I strongly feel it’s from Merlin so—

I don’t know how its spelled, but out loud it sounds like “Guy-vy”

At first I thought it was Daegal’s name, but obviously no, however could it be related to him? Or is it a completely different episode and character? Ugh, this is driving me insane.
