So, and I know this is kind of an unpopular opinion, but I've never really liked Kiki's Delivery Service. I love Studio Ghibli films but Kiki's Delivery Service always missed the mark for me, and I didn't know why. I'm rewatching it now, because I feel like I'll understand it a bit better now that I'm facing leaving home sometime soon, but I finally nailed down the reason that the ending made me the angriest. The ending was always the part of Kiki's Delivery Service that that made me dislike it so much, because while I felt like the story was fairly strong it seemed wrapped up very poorly. I realized the main reason I don't like the ending is because Kiki can't talk to JiJi anymore. While I know why Miyazaki did this, as he said that she no longer needed her other self anymore, I still hate it. I guess maybe it's just because it's sad to me that she can no longer speak to her animal companion that she's had for so long. It's like losing a freind...
