she appreciated all of her people individually. though she could not interact with each and every one, amalie was grateful for whatever time she could get with them one on one. to hear their problems, their concerns, their praises, if any. she wanted to serve them. the common people. the man visiting her now was one she had not previously met, but was thankful for all the same. she smiled shakily and grasped his hand, trying to keep her appearance stronger than she truly felt on the inside. “thank you, sir... your words do bring me comfort in this time...” she whispered genuinely, wanting him to know how much she appreciated his visit.

“We shouldn’t be doing this!”

“yeah, i know, there’s a lot of things i shouldn’t do, but i do them anyway.” rey continued manipulating one of her hairpins into the lock of phasma’s room. revenge was best served cold, and rey enjoyed it even more knowing it would be for rose too. she stuck out her tongue slightly, biting down on it, as the crease between her eyebrows deepened. after years of picking locks on abandoned star destroyers, this should be easy. but finally, she sighed in frustration and stepped back. "keep locking, make sure no one’s coming,” she told rose without peeling her eyes from the doorknob. then she waved her hand over it, and the force willed it to unlock for her. she grinned triumphantly and pushed it open, dragging rose in with her. “okay. let’s get looking.”

“nothing... th-there’s nothing i need you to do...” amalie whispered, though she managed a smile of appreciation to the bright-eyed girl. she patted her hand gently through the bars, giving a small sniff. she was grateful to all of the people who came to visit, and especially those who offered their services. but really, she did not want rose to do anything that could possibly get her in trouble with the guards or with snoke. except... leaning closer, she whispered, “keep fighting him... d-don’t ever give up.” then she smiled again. “you-you are a resistance hero, are you not...?”
