So basically speaking, dead people that died injured in anyway shape or form (stabbed, impaled, poisoned, etc..) will have flowers covering that injury. Why? Welp, lets just say its kind of bc of Persephone and also an artistic choice. The flowers that cover their scars are flowers related to death or Persephone like asphodel, poppy, roses, lavender, crocus,...(idk why i wrote it out, its literally on the drawing)
So thats kind of why Polites look like that, and also since he was absoblutely crushed in the cave so yea.
O and what abt when before Persephone come around?
They look like empty vessels, thats it.
