Hi, heres my (new) intro: D

Hi, my name's Alisa, i draw stuffs, if you have been for some reasons seeing my posts you would have knew that already, and also said in my name too. Im an esthuasiac for almost everything (I know stuffs, just not as well as the fans do). And i have a hyperfixation on Greek mythology (Hyperfixated so hard you joined a whole religion), you'd proply see that in my posts too lmao. Im a minor, specifically speaking, 17: D so yea I go by any pronouns, i couldnt care less.

And my blogs will mostly consist of Greek mytho art stuffs well at least the myths that i know at the moment. Im also a Helpol (Hellenist Polytheist), i wordship Lord Apollo and Lady Artemis, along with Mother Hekate. Idk if i'll post abt it here tho so yea.

My works are made using Ibis paint atm, i also post traditional arts. I draw with a phone and a hand, and im a pretty low energy artist so pls be patient with me if you make requests, im sorry, im currently falling out of love with art and myself rn:' D I dont usually do much on Tumblr, my reason being

since artblock been bad i decided to make a design for Triton via a friend's request.

I added a little octopus for the sake of designing, i dont think he has that in canon.

The wrath of Artemis and the Fate of Aktaion.

I hope i got this right bc this took me so long.

Anyway

Abt the mythology.

The most popular, or well known myth is that Aktaion, while hunting, stumbled upon Artemis bathing with her huntress. The hunter stopped and stared at her naked body, amazed by how beautiful the goddess is. The goddess had seen him, and cursed him of speech. If he tries to talk, he will be turn into a stag (A male deer i think-).

When Aktaion heard the call of his hunting party, he cried out to them and huzzah. Became deer. His hunting hounds turn on him as they dont recognized their owner and start tearing him to pieces. He prayed to the gods on Olympus to save him but they didnt care abt his desperation and so Aktaion was torn into pieces.

Anyway

Heres a little info abt my drawing.

I decided to went on a different direction for this work. Inspired by these two coloring styles.

Im not sure if the artist has a tumblr so if you do, tag them for me if you will:].

What i was inspired from these two coloring styles are the gradient and textures.

As for composition, i planned for it to look like an angry, wrathful Artemis looking down at Aktaion. I went for a different direction with Artemis in this work. Instead of having a neutral skin tone, i made it look like she's a part of the sky, like yk, non-human. The deer mask hides most of her face bc, she's a goddess. And we will never truly know what she looks like upon our own depictions of her.

As for Aktaion, i drew him in his mid of transformation into a stag, looking up pleadingly at the goddess as the hounds run at him. And in a position almost like he's praying to her.

I added the arrows shooting from the moon bc. Uh. Moon goddess. Hunter become the hunted. Type shit.

And i based most of it off pinterest. One got really bored in classes. I like to draw them in modern clothing, figuring out what i think they would wear.

In art, we stand on the shoulders of giants at all times. This is especially true of retellings, which are a staple of storytelling media since time immemorial. I’m preparing to share my own retelling myself very soon (!!!) and I wanted to highlight the shoulders that I’m standing on. Here are some of the people here on Tumblr who’ve been inspiring me on my journey through writing this:

One of my most recent favourites that I want to highlight is @artefarte and their project, Flowers for the Messenger God. I’m enjoying the art, both the art in their comic and the art they post on their page, and they have so much talent?! Like what?! The way they’ve characterized these figures is really interesting, and they really bring Ancient Greece to life (as far as I know, I haven’t been to Ancient Greece before). 

@alisalikestodraw is so talented it’s unbelievable. I enjoy their rough sketches a lot, the emotions and facial expressions they capture are really expressive and emotive and makes you see these figures in a new way. They did a gorgeous piece of Dionysus and it’s just…no words. So good. 

@community-gardenss was a huge inspiration for the way I characterized Asterius in Adamantine. In fact, their art of the beloved little cow boy kind of kicked off this current iteration of my retellings because of how tender and sweet they are and the tragedy of it all and…their style is so beautiful and they’re so versatile, every piece is so gorgeous. Thank you for inspiring me, Gardens.

Not my usual post but rather another vent post i think i should share.

This is an illustration of me and my imposter-syndrome. I went for a literal term for it.

This is a visualized of what the imposter-syndrome does to my mind and myself.

It drained me of my passion and inspiration. And there for stun me of my creativity.

The reason to why im pale as a ghost and it has a natural skintone is bc i take the term "imposter-syndrome" literally. A fake version of myself, wearing my skin, draining me of myself.

This is basically me when i see really cool art or ideas, designs.

That i should have thought of.
