How Mistakes Are Handled In Fandoms

We as fandoms, are split into four categories: the ones who accuse people of mistakes every single hour of the day, people who excuse every single mistake made by a character, and those who think after a character had made a BIG mistake, they are unforgivable. The fourth category is the one where people recognize that characters make mistakes and continue to love them WHILE keeping in mind that they are NOT PERFECT. Unfortunately, the fourth category is the smallest. Why do we act like a mistake is unforgivable? Eh do we act like mistakes not matter? Why do we accuse every act made a mistake? Why can't we be more like the fourth category people? Everyone HATES when a show's characters are realistic to human behavior because it makes them realize that people aren't perfect. But then people get mad when characters are 'perfect' people who never make any mistakes. I have been apart of each one of these categories. I have hates characters for one mistake made, I have called characters perfect while disregarding that they hurt someone last episode/chapter/etc., and I have accused every act a character makes as an unforgivable son. But I am proud to say that I have stopped that, and I have finally realized that people make mistakes and can still be a good person, and that nothing is unforgivable. People are not perfect, so why should characters in a story?

Because there isn’t this point of ‘wholeness’ or ‘completeness.’ We are continually progressing and changing and growing and becoming—and instead of letting this hold us back, we must use it to propel us forward.
