in comparison to their debut, they seem to have a lot of schedules going on for them. back then, haknyeon had felt as though they’d been lacking in that department; aside from promoting on music shows, and a radio show sprinkled there, their schedule (variety wise) had been lacklustre. 

though, with this era, it seems as though nova’s got them doing all sorts of things. for example, this after mom is asleep show they’ll be recording to post on youtube. it’s a fun idea, and haknyeon thinks it’ll be great for per_se to showcase themselves as... loud as they are (it’ll definitely be a challenge).

he’s hanging around the set, watching as the staff get everything ready when something seems a little out of place. he furrows his brows, confused. was that... an old lady? hanging around in their studio? was she lost? just what exactly was an old lady doing at their filming? he wasn’t informed about this. carefully, he walks over to her and gently taps at her back. “excuse me,” he begins, politely, “ahjumma, are you lost? do you need some help?” he asks.

tw: injury

the injury... sucks.it just plain sucks. sure, hugo could look at it as a break from all the FUCKING dancing cause he, the non-dancer, decided it was wise to join a company founded on dance. he could see it as a chance for haknyeon to have more parts and spotlight in the title track by covering hugo’s parts and be happy that the maknae got some more much deserved attention. he could see it in a lot of silver lining ways, but mostly he just felt like a failure.

in the pit of his stomach, he knew he had let them all down.

these were his brothers, all five of them. he loved them to pieces, so to have this injury because his coordination sucks and it finally caught up to him makes him feel like pure shit. he doesn’t let it show in front of haknyeon, or jungwoo, or even ricky, because he doesn’t want to worry them. it’s nearly impossible, however, to hide how he’s feeling from hosung, especially when he looks at hugo like that. 

“hosung please... stop looking at me like that.” he can feel his voice cracking from trying to hold the emotion back, and his throat starts to feel sore as he tries to choke down those feelings that bubble up. he’s on the couch, rubbing his hands over his face until the skin is red and semi-raw. “please don’t look at me like that...” he says it again into his hands, his voice straining as the tears finally catch up and brim over his covered eyes. a small sob escapes him, and he just stays hidden in his hands, not wanting to show his weak side off.

PER_SE SCHEDULE ┊ AFTER MUM FALLS ASLEEP

it’s a cool concept, and it sounds fun. despite them having to be ‘quiet’, haknyeon thinks that this would probably bring out just how chaotic they really are. he’d already caused quite a scene previously (and embarrassed himself) when he thought that gray, their supposed ‘mother’ for the skit, was actually a lost old lady. 

despite having filmed things before, everything still feels new to him. and he’s never actually filmed something like this before. a part of him is proud that per_se are the first guests of the series, and he’s sure that through the power of youtube, this would probably reach a wider audience.

he takes a seat, and they introduce themselves. “we are per_se!” he says, voice almost loud, until he remembers that being loud isn’t quite the point of the show. 

they’re made to cook something. but the whole thing is just hilarious to him. they have to keep extremely quiet while talking, which is probably impossible. the sight of the older members, and hui especially, getting punished has haknyeon laughing, high pitched and loud, that their ‘mother’ begins to stir. he only realizes that he’s laughed out loud after a moment and just like the other members, he gets punishment as well.

they continue on, passing the ingredients to the next member and it gets to him. even when he’d stayed with his parents, and his aunt and uncle, haknyeon hadn’t actually took it upon himself to cook (they never did quite trust him in the kitchen, and with good reason). he picks up the knife and attempts to slice the vegetable only for it to slam loudly against the board. lifting up his shoulders, haknyeon looks around, but he’s too loud and gets the punishment once more. something is put onto his face, and it feels ticklish, so like a clown, he laughs. his laughter has always been loud, and this earns him, another punishment. “really!” he says, but he’s giggling softly.

and he finds himself enjoying the filming. perhaps, per_se could do something like this again.

HE'S BACK!

it felt so good to be back with per_se, promoting. he still had to take things easy, but the relief to be promoting with them again was unreal! he had especially been looking forward to this schedule, where they would do the dance part switch. 

now, hugo knew it was only supposed to be the dance parts that switched, but the fact that he was getting jungwoo’s role was amazing to him. from main rapper to main vocal in an instant. in his mind, he had to sing the part as well as dance it. hugo was back, and he had to make his presence known. he apologizes to the staff ahead of time, telling them that main vocalist hugo would work hard while performing the new formations. 

and then he screeches.

every time he comes up, he screams jungwoo’s vocal parts, staring dead into the camera lens with such burning intent. he isn’t trying to sing properly at all, because he knows he can carry a tune vocally. he just wanted to be dumb, and goofy, and hilarious, so he screams those high notes, even when jungwoo isn’t front and center but he’s supposed to be riffing. hugo just makes his lungs explode with noise, sounding like a dying village with how loud he is, and he knows that a couple of the mess ups are because of his random screaming of high notes that come out of nowhere and throw the others off. the best part is that he just takes it all so seriously, which makes it even more ridiculous. he had had the time to watch the choreo a lot on his time off so he wasn’t getting lost or bumping into people often when going to each of jungwoo’s spots (which honestly helped him feel a lot better about his capabilities, feeling like maybe he is good enough and the injury was just unfortunate). so, he had to be ridiculous and entertaining in a different way, so he was a screechy main vocal now.

tw: injury

this injury was proving to be pretty emotional. as soon as hugo was back home in the dorm and the others filed in, it was like an onslaught of sadness. wave after wave of emotions was hitting as each member came to him, and it made him realize just how close all of them had gotten. he couldn’t have asked for a better set of guys to debut with. all of them were such gems, and he was really thankful and grateful to them. 

even their maknae was such a strong part of their unit. sure, hugo found himself trying to mother haknyeon a whole bunch and take care of him, but haknyeon tried to take care of his hyungs just as much too. hugo had just settled into bed when haknyeon approached him, and he immediately smiles for him and reaches both his hands out to him. “c’mere you~” his nose scrunches happily as he makes grabby hands at the younger, craving some cuddles. 

“it’s not that bad, don’t worry.” well, it was bad enough that he had to miss promotions for a few weeks at least, but it was very hugo to try to play it off. “this’ll be good though! you’ll get my lines so you’ll have more chances to shine on stage~ i can’t wait to watch the performances, they’re going to be amazing.” he continues smiling as he wraps his arms around haknyeon, trying to be as positive and optimistic about this as possible. “you totally got this~”
