My review for "Down and Out in Death City" by professor-maka

*Points at your fic* I love it. This. THis thisbthis story. incredible.

At the beginning of the first chapter, I was a little bored in all honesty because of the slow pace but that just brought us into more of what Soul's current life was: slow and boring. Now that wasn't your intentions probably but shit, getting a look into Soul's head and just how oriented he was around protecting his Maka was heart touching. I read your prequel when you first posted it and this resbang gave it that follow up that it needed.

I love how shamelessly love dovey you characterized Soul and Maka and then how Soul tries to get through the day but all he can think of is Maka. Their chemistry and their love is what sold me and kept me going through this fic. and then the plot

What started off as a way to keep an eye on his love became so much more and i felt like the way you introduced the conflict with blackstar was amazing. There were secrets and identities and it seemed like even though Maka preached "no lies", Soul was low key/hella hurt because she never told him about BS. jealous soul is def a thing BLESS. I love the brotp you wove with blackstar and maka. JUST THE ENTIRETY OF ALL THAT IS MAKA: selfless, kind, A HERO. the way you wrote maka made me want to fall in love with her too. no wonder soul is a sap i don't blame him one bit

There was a lot of times when everything seemed to be just raw emotion and your writing makes me connect with the characters. a plus for you right there. everytime Maka or Soul were hurt, it brought on the emotions and I just love the way you write their feelings towards something like the constant reminder of how Soul pictures himself versus Maka.

The little thing in ch 7 when stein and spirit were messing with soul? brilliant.

To persistentplutonium and your art: IS THAT SOUL LOOKING ALL LOVE STRUCK IN THE BACK ON THE ROOF OF THAT BUILDING BECAUSE I SWEAR INT HAT MOMENT WE WERE ALL SOUL OK. I think you have a pretty interesting costume design going for you right now and I was wondering if you were planning on posting more artwork since your captions seem to be suggesting that? I'm looking forward to seeing your other pieces if you decide to put them up!

Soul might have thought not going to jail was the easy part, but between perpetual unemployment, an overachieving superhero girlfriend, and the looming threat of Arachnophobia, life as an ex-villain is a lot harder than it’s cracked up to be. Superhero AU written for Resbang 2014.

a fascinating take on the typical superheroes au, showing how everyday struggles affect soul and his relationship with maka. basically an awesome action movie that actually delves into the characters. art gives a hint of what maka's superhero guise could look like.
