i’m fine with exclusionist interaction as long as your kind and respectful approaching these topics, which you seem to be! i’m more than happy to talk and educate about these things.
i struggle to explain what it exactly is or how it feels, because of my own lack of vocabulary. but i can certainly attest to it being an entire separate feeling than platonic and romantic attraction.
alterous attraction is a type of emotional closeness that’s neither platonic nor romantic. that’s why there’s a special word to describe these type of relationships (which used to be “zucchini” before queer/quasiplatonic was popularized)
alterous attraction is hard to explain to someone who doesn’t experience it, because it’s easy for it to sound like it’s on some spectrum between platonic and romantic, when in fact it’s its own sort of feeling that differentiates itself from the two. it’s just one of those things you gotta know to understand, y’know?
i hope that makes sense! if you have any questions i can do my best to answer.
