there’s something soooo freeing about identifying as aroace. technically i have some weird feeling of maybe i wouldn’t mind being in a relationship but it would need to be the right person and also i’d need to know them and also they’d probably have to be at a standard only reachable in fiction.
it’s so much easier to condense all that by saying, “oh yeah i’m aroace”. it gets across the main point that people need to know: i don’t want a relationship with anyone, i’m not interested in romance or sex.
so technically there’s a many more layers to my aroaceness, but that’s something that i’m comfortable with. i’ve always struggled with really really wanting to identify with a label, as it brings me personally a sense of peace and i’d always felt weird/uncomfortable identifying as unlabelled. but of course my sexuality also felt very very complicated. this is a nice middle ground of feeling at peace with the complicated-ness, whilst also being able to just slap on a flexible, nice-sounding label. the flag is bonus points cause i love the pretty colours <3
