whenever I think about this comic panel too hard I see red and i start to hurt others around me
Joey clearly has violent urges but he holds off because he clearly has his mother in mind and how not only would it hurt her but it would solidify what the town already thinks of his family. Ormonds racism shines through in this comic and it's so in your face you cant deny it but thats a discussion for another time.
Joey doesn't want to be violent but hes pent up, he and his family face endless systemic oppression, he balances school and work. He's a good kid he's doing everything right by the book but why doesn't the town seem to get that?
But the legion, especially Frank see through his anger, deep down he is filled with rage. But hoey has his back, he even tells him that which eases Joey's mind and secures him into thinking everything will be okay in the end.
