In burger form, you can enjoy the tastes of a traditional Philly cheesesteak. Onions and bell peppers are sauted and then topped with melted provolone cheese. The burgers are served on a toasted bun with creamy mayonnaise.
Ingredients: 1 lb ground beef. 4 burger buns. 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced. 1 onion, thinly sliced. 4 slices provolone cheese. 1/4 cup mayonnaise. 2 tablespoons olive oil. Salt and pepper to taste.
Instructions: Preheat grill to medium-high heat. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions and bell peppers, season with salt and pepper, and saut until softened and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside. Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and form them into burger patties. Season both sides with salt and pepper. Place burger patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or to your desired level of doneness. During the last minute of grilling, place a slice of provolone cheese on each patty and close the grill to melt the cheese. Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each burger bun. Assemble the burgers by placing a cheese-covered patty on the bun, then topping with the caramelized onions and bell peppers. Complete the burgers with the top bun and serve hot.
