The lower parts of the two berms that are positioned along the pathway leading up to our frond door are still pretty empty but I am working on gradually adding plants as time and budget allows. Plants have gotten so expensive here in Austin. Is that the case where you live as well? Anyway, I am going for a cottage garden/English garden style and I stumbled over this beautiful perennial phlox, called Paparazzi Jagger Phlox at Shoal Creek Nursery which perfectly fits the bill. I love the soft lavender color and its ability to bloom profusely for a long time. If this phlox does well in my garden this year and comes back after the winter next year, I will definitely get more of it. Does anyone of you grow phlox in your garden? What is your experience with it? Are you also thinking already ahead what kind me of flowers you want to grow from seeds next year? I took the photo of this beautiful rain kissed phlox in Charleston, and as with so many things in Charleston, I fell in love. When I visited “The Natural Gardener”, a local organic nursery in here Austin recently, I saw phlox in their butterfly garden. Even though the phlox was a bit tatty and just going over it was still frequented by many different butterflies. That sealed the deal for me. A lovely flowering plant with a great scent that attracts butterflies, what more can you ask for? Over the weekend I will try to find out when to sow these beauties here in Austin and also which varieties are best suited for our climate zone.
