So yesterday the first thing I spot on FB was one of those goddamned side articles (”trending”) about a woman who stuck her hand in a bag of grapes and was bitten by a BW spider.
K. Tried really hard not to freak out. Avoided sugar all day. Avoided the garage. Stayed off FB in case anyone reposted it (the pic is an UNNECESSARILY ENORMOUS PIC OF ONE), and did my best to not think about it (except to tell my BF I won’t be buying grapes for a long long time).
Then I go to water my mint and stuck my arm through a spiderweb so thick it just bounced back... I KNOW, logically, this is not that kind of web and is more likely an orb spider but I felt like something bit me on the back (it could’ve been that I tweaked my back, squirming to get away from the web and into the house). Since then I’ve been itchy and feeling like something is crawling on me. I didn’t have a bite on my back, but spent the whole night checking my hair and clothes for spiders.
My boyfriend asked if I could throw in a load of clothes, so I did end up going in the garage, but noticed a pretty big spider MAKING A WEB ON THE DOOR, so I quickly threw the clothes in (wo taking my eyes off the spider) and ran inside and told him he had to get them out. Then it felt like things were crawling in my pants, so I took them off and shook them out and spent the evening scratching my legs (they are very sore today). (even when I went into my office- my happy place- I felt like things were crawling up my legs and couldn’t handle having my legs under the table).
Lastly, as I was laying in bed, waiting for my bf to power down his computer, I was playing on my phone (laying on my stomach so I could keep an eye on the corner of the bed in case a spider climbs up there), one fucking descends from the ceiling and lands on my phone, then ran off and up onto my pillow.
Spend the next half hour shaking the pillows, checking in my shirt, my hair, wiping the sheets off, and considering spraying the whole bed with Raid and just not sleeping. (I didn’t sleep for a couple nights once when I found one in my room). It was not easy to get to sleep but I think I wore myself out at this point.
I hope today I can calm the fuck down.
Ugh, why does thunder scare me so much? And why has it thundered practically every night since I moved back to this ridiculous town?
I’m insanely afraid of open water.
You will not get me in any kind of water that goes above my knees if I can’t see the bottom. I don’t even own a swim suit. The ocean freaks me out. Sea life is amazing, but oh my god the ocean itself terrifies me.
I don’t know if I have a phobia (thalassophobia in this case) per se.. but holy shit you couldn’t get me in the open ocean for all the tea in china.
