Can I have like 300 words of Stiles dragging overworked lawyer Peter from his desk for morale?
*snorts* No, you can't. Of course you can't. Have you met me? I'm fairly sure I am physically incapable of writing only 300 words of anything. Have about 3k worth of Steter family fluff featuring this prompt instead <3

Stiles paused in the middle of stirring. He blinked slowly as he peered down into the pot. This was… decidedly too much food for one person. Or two people. He really wasn’t used to cooking just for himself anymore and while a portion of leftovers might be appreciated by his husband later on, this was decidedly too much food. Still stirring with one hand, he dialed with his other.
“Stiles,” a familiar voice said warmly. “What can I do for you?”
“Heya, Tali. Might be more of a ‘what can I do for you’ situation,” Stiles grinned. “So, uh, might have cooked a bit too much. I was thinking maybe when you drop Peter off, you could just come upstairs quickly, I’ll give you a container of delicious Gulasz Wołowy to take home with you…? I know Damon loves it so I would actually be doing you a favor there.”
“I’d never say no to your goulash, Stiles. Selfishly, not just for my husband,” Talia chuckled amused. “I’m just a little confused as to why I would be dropping Peter off…?”
Slowly, Stiles stopped stirring. “Because you are doing some sibling bonding shopping trip…?”
The silence on the other end was impossibly telling. “I’m sorry. We’re not. I’m still in the office.”
More silence stretched on as Stiles pulled the spoon out of the stew and put it on the cutting board next to it. “Oh. You’re… not? That… Huh.”
“I’m sure there is a good explanation for this, perhaps you got the days mixed up?” Talia offered.
“Yeah, no, I didn’t,” Stiles stared over at their calendar. “That… only leaves one possibility.”
“You know my brother would never cheat on you,” Stiles was startled by Talia’s declaration.
“Huh?” Stiles blinked doe-eyed, very startled. “Oh, I can see how that might be some people’s only possible conclusion. No. Not even… No. For one, Peter knows I would cut off his balls, feed them to him and then set him on fire if he ever even considered that. Which he never would, because that man worships the damn ground I walk on, Tali.”
Talia chuckled softly at that. “He really does. So, wait, what is the only possibility then…?”
“The bastard is still at work,” Stiles glowered. “He’s been overworking himself so much, I’ve been forcing him to take a couple steps back. He promised he did so. Now I am starting to think that he lied about the relaxing fun activities he’s been doing lately so he could sneak more work.”
There was a beat of silence and a heavy sigh. “That does sound like my brother, yes. What do you plan to do about it? I know you Stiles, you probably already have an evil scheme.”
“Evil,” Stiles yelped offended, pressing a hand to his chest. “Me? What an accusation.”
“Stiles,” it was fascinating how Talia could say his name with the exact same fond exasperation that bordered on annoyance as Derek, he really was his mother’s son.
“Oh, this calls for drastic measures,” Stiles’ grin was foreboding. “I’ll have to get out the big guns for this, but I will make Peter regret and give on.”
“I fear for my brother,” Talia sounded proud. “I’ll see you both Sunday for family dinner. Damon is making gumbo, please be kind to… whatever that will be. Mother promised cherry pie.”
“Looking forward to the cherry pie, will be skeptical about Dae’s first attempt at gumbo,” Stiles snickered amused. “I’ll see you on Sunday, Tali. Bye.”
He hung up, turned off the stove, put the lid on the pot and took off his apron. Time for drastic measures indeed. Stiles would have to get the big guns out for this one.

Noah never thought that retirement would be for him. He’d thought he would work far past retirement and even then they would have to pry him out of that sheriff station. Granted, Sheriff Parrish would most likely voice that Noah did spend too much time at the station, but that was neither here nor there. Noah enjoyed retirement, he loved it. And he knew he had Stiles to thank for that. Who would have thought that boy’s magic would ever create something as impossible and as perfect as the three grandkids sitting in his living room right now?
“Granpa!” Kassie yelped. “I drew a you!”
Snoring fondly, Noah got up and walked over to her. His granddaughters, Kassie and Rowan, were two years old and twins and the most precious things Noah could imagine. Kassie stared up at him with Stiles’ big doe-eyes, her button nose scrunched up as she smiled proudly. Kneeling down behind her, he looked at the very colorful drawing.
“That’s amazing, kiddo,” Noah ruffled her hair. “Can you draw yourself and your siblings too?”
“Uhu,” Kassie nodded wildly, making her pigtails bob.
Sitting down more comfortably, Noah turned to check on Kassie’s twin. Rowan had Stiles’ moles but Peter’s ice-blue eyes. Sometimes, they were so sharp, it startled Noah. Like this two year old kid could read him for filth. He knew that was mostly a trauma response after having dealt with Peter in court for years. Why his son had to marry a lawyer, of all people, was beyond Noah. The werewolf part, Noah had managed to accept. The lawyer part, not so much. Rowan blinked up at her grandpa when she noticed that she was being watched. She was playing tea party with her stuffed toys – a bear, a fox, an owl and, of course, a wolf.
“Tea?” Rowan offered timidly, holding up a cop for Noah.
“Why thank you,” Noah smiled and accepted the small plastic tea-cup, blowing on it before slowly pretending to take a sip, just to pause at how quiet it was. “...Where is your brother?”
Rowan and Kassie exchanged a look and a giggle. Oh, that wasn’t good. Putting the tea-cup down, Noah scrambled up to find Mischief Junior. Jamie was like a carbon-copy of Stiles, which had been cute when he was very little and it was just optics. It wasn’t just optics. The boy was incredibly good at getting into trouble and he loved playing pranks.
“James Stilinski Hale, you get down from there right now, or I swear-”
Noah stood frozen in the kitchen, seeing his six year old grandson on top of the cupboards. He had no idea how the boy had even managed to climb up there. The doors to the cupboards were open, the drawers pulled out… He’d used the drawers like stairs up to the counter and then climbed though the open cupboards. Closing his eyes, Noah tried to take a deep breath.
“Eat no red meat, dad, don’t eat refined sugar, these things aren’t good for your heart,” Noah muttered in a mockery of his son’s voice. “All of that and then that boy gives me a heart-attack provoking grandchild. Maybe put less nonsense in your kid’s head, Stiles, maybe that would be good for my heart, have you considered my health in all of this, kiddo?”
While muttering to himself, he pushed a chair against the counter and climbed on top of it so he could reach the top of the cupboards. Jamie just blinked down at him like a cat stuck in a tree while… munching the cookies that Noah kid in the highest cupboard, inside the big, old bowl he never used, so Stiles wouldn’t find them.
“C’mere, kiddo,” Noah carefully held out his arms. “Lemme help you down.”
Jamie wrapped his arms around Noah’s neck as soon as he was within reach. “Thank you, grandpa. I… didn’t know how to get down again. But issokay. I had enough cookies, I woulda survived.”
Noah snorted and pressed a kiss to the boy’s cheek. “Right. How about you and I make a deal?”
Jamie’s golden-brown eyes lit up at that. “Like dad?”
Noah winced at that, because no, not a deal like a lawyer would. “Sure. So, the deal is: I won’t tell your parents that you climbed on top of the cupboard. If you don’t tell them about the cookies.”
Jamie wiggled his nose thoughtfully and took another bite from his cookie, before nodding. “Okay.”
Sighing relieved, Noah ruffled the boy’s hair. As much as Noah absolutely adored his grandchildren and leaped at every chance to babysit them, they did tend to age him a couple years. First time Rowan had scratched up the couch with her claws, Noah thought he was going to die. He’d panic-called Talia, since Peter and Stiles had been on a well-deserved weekend-trip together. It had been the very first time Rowan had shown her werewolf nature. Auntie Talia had, of course, been incredibly proud. Grandpa Noah had needed a cookie.
“Mommy, mommy, mommy!”
As soon as Jamie heard his sisters’ excited exclamation did he tear free from Noah’s grasp to run into the living room. Grandpa was all fun and cool until mom showed up. Huffing amused and not the least bit offended, Noah followed his grandson into the living room, where Stiles was already on the ground, sprawled out and with both girls snuggled close.
“You’re early,” Noah commented. “Didn’t you say something about a ‘self-care’ day? Bubble bath, a good book and no screeching, screaming little monsters?”
“Hey,” Kassie and Rowan yelped at once, turning to glare at Noah.
“But these are my favorite screeching, screaming little monsters,” Stiles grinned and kissed both girls’ cheeks. “And yeah, that was the plan. Plan’s changed though.”
Noah’s brows immediately furrowed at that. “Trouble?”
In Beacon Hills, the answer usually was trouble. Stiles huffed and sat up, getting hugged by Jamie.
“Not that kind of trouble. A certain someone is in trouble though,” the look on Stiles’ face made Noah worry for whoever that someone was. “Anyway, I bring you a container of food. It should be enough for you and Chris. Honestly, it’d be enough for you and Christ to invite Ally and her family for dinner. I, uh, went a little overboard on the cooking.”
“That’s them Polish genes,” Noah nodded solemnly. “Your mother was never able to cook for less than a small army. Unlike her, you at least have werewolves in your life.”
A crooked grin spread over Stiles’ lips at that. “Very true. Anyway, the aforementioned trouble? I will have to borrow the little mogwais for it.”
Ah. So Peter was the one in trouble. Well, it had been nice knowing the wolf.
“Sure, go ahead and steal my grandchildren,” Noah sighed.
“Don’t make it sound like you’re a lonely, sad old man,” Stiles huffed and elbowed his dad. “I know you and Chris can enjoy a peaceful evening in too. And if you’re desperate for grandkids, I could call Ally and tell her you’re free to babysit her gremlins.”
“No,” Noah’s voice croaked and he cleared his throat. “No, I think I’m good. Dealing with these three was enough for one evening, I’m not sure I could handle Fletcher and Arian right now.”
Like Rowan, Fletcher was a born wolf. Unlike Rowan, Fletcher was using his werewolf abilities for evil (stealing cookies, climbing places he wasn’t supposed to go… Noah started to think that maybe Jamie and Fletcher should spend less time together. But then these two were just as inseparable as Scott and Stiles. Only that the claws and fangs came more than ten years earlier in this case).
“Awesome,” Stiles grinned and gave Noah a hug. “Also, please note my self-restraint to not comment on the cookie crumbles on your shirt, dad.”
Noah made a noise. “These aren’t even from me! They’re from Jamie!”
“And where would Jamie have gotten cookies?” Stiles asked, eyebrows raised.
“Cupboard,” Jamie offered helpfully.
“Traitor,” Noah whispered with narrowed eyes.
Stiles snorted and herded his kids outside and toward the Jeep. Noah heaved a sigh and slumped against the window as he saw them drive off. As much as he adored his grandkids, maybe a nice, calm evening in with his own husband would be nice too. Now he just needed to get Chris home.

Werewolves couldn’t get headaches, but if Peter had to read one more page of this horribly written report, he was going to be the first werewolf with a headache. Closing his eyes, he pinched the bridge of his nose and tried to breath deeply. He just had to get through this one last report and then he could finally call it a night and head back home. He could practically feel the forming headache melt away as he thought of home and his husband.
He knew Stiles had an important date with their large bath-tub and that journal from a Spark from 14th century Germany that Peter had bought him last month. The thought of Stiles, soft and relaxed in the tub, just reading and doing some well-deserved self-care immediately relaxed Peter.
His beautiful, powerful and amazing husband always worked far too hard. If he wasn’t working as the school’s librarian or taking care of their three kids or helping out the sheriff station, he was doing research for the Hale Packs – Talia’s pack, the pack of Peter’s family that Peter had left behind when he formed his own Hale Pack, after a rogue Alpha rampaged through their town (a tragedy that had, ultimately, been a blessing because it had brought Stiles into Peter’s life, had blessed Peter with an Alpha spark and with a ragtag group of betas of his own in Erica, Boyd, Isaac, Jackson and Scott, all the kids turned by the rogue Alpha before he’d met his demise at Peter’s flaws). It was one of the things Peter loved about his husband. His dedication and hard work, his clever mind that could always figure everything out and had saved them all so often.
The pleasant, warm feeling was replaced with guilt. He hated lying to his husband. He adored Stiles far too much for that, would love to spend every waking moment with Stiles (and every sleeping moment; at this point in his life, Peter knew for a fact that he could not sleep if he didn’t have his mate pressed against himself). However, his fussy, caring and very demanding husband thought that Peter was working too hard and had demanded that Peter take it slower. He couldn’t just put this case aside and go home like this wasn’t the most important case in his career.
He’d tried, he really had, but even at home playing dolls with Kassie and Rowan, all he could think about was the case. So Peter found a loophole. Just some white lies about taking ‘me time’ that he then channeled into working on the case. It’d soon be over and then he wouldn’t have to lie and he would be able to relax. Surely Stiles would understand.
“Hands up! You’re under arrest!”
Peter startled violently, torn out of his drifting thoughts by the voice. He blinked, staring directly at a shiny, fake sheriff star, being held into Peter’s face by his son. Jamie offered a toothy grin.
“Mom says you have broken rules and I can arrest you,” Jamie declared.
Oh. Oh boy. Stiles knew. And Stiles hadn’t come alone. No, Stiles had brought… Peter stared as their daughters climbed up onto his lap and attached themselves to his neck. Peter was in serious trouble. Stiles had gotten out the big guns, also known as the little princesses.
“Hello, my little flowers,” Peter smiled and peppered both girls’ faces with kisses.
Kassie and Rowan giggled and squirmed, always claiming that Peter’s beard tickled which, of course, only made him give them even more kisses. Jamie all the while climbed onto the desk so he could sit right in front of his dad, on top of Peter’s case files, his feet on Peter’s knees.
“Hello, Mischief,” Peter smiled at his son and ruffled Jamie’s hair.
“You gonna come willing or do I have to use force?” Stiles asked unimpressed from the door.
Peter winced, even more so when he saw the sharp, unamused look on his mate’s face. Ducking his head and nodding, Peter put the girls down and then picked Jamie off the desk, before herding all three kids over to Stiles. As soon as his beautiful mate was within reach did Peter wrap his arms around Stiles’ waist so he could pull the Spark in for a kiss.
“Hello, love of my life,” Peter whispered. “You look positively stunning.”
“I look,” Stiles glared. “Like I should be in a relaxing bubble bath right now, while you should be criticizing Talia’s choice in clothing. Instead, we are both here. And you will regret that.”
“Yes, dear,” Peter winced again, then pressed another kiss to Stiles’ lips before leaning in to whisper into his ear. “And if I still make the night end in a relaxing bubble bath…? Together?”
“Mh,” Stiles tilted his head intrigued. “It would be a… start.”
“Followed by a massage,” Peter quickly tagged on. “I know you, Erica and Fiona did a lot of running yesterday, chasing that witch. I’m sure your legs could use a nice massage.”
A small, pleased smile spread over Stiles’ lips as he wrapped his arms around Peter’s neck. “Mister Stilinski Hale, you are very good at these negotiations.”
Peter turned a little more serious. “I am sorry about lying to you, darling. I shouldn’t have.”
Heaving a sigh, Stiles tilted his head forward and rested his forehead against Peter’s shoulder. “Not like I have never lied to you before either. Hidden injuries, dangerous spell-work. You and me, we’re the same, Peter. When we sink our teeth into something, we can’t really let it go. And we’ve both hit resistance in each other trying to convince the other to let it go.”
Peter pursed his lips and nosed Stiles’ cheek. That one time Stiles had claimed he’d gone on a fun bro road-trip with Kira that had in reality been them hunting down spells to enable Stiles to use the Nogitsune remands left behind. At least Peter’s lies only found him boringly sitting at his desk, reading mind-numbing case files, instead of some ancient shrine in Kyoto battling oni.
“I adore you, darling,” Peter whispered, kissing along Stiles’ jawline.
“I am aware of that,” Stiles chuckled, his fingers carding through Peter’s hair. “After this case, you’re taking two weeks off and you are taking me and our children to – where do we wanna go?”
“Camelot!” Kassie exclaimed immediately, bouncing a little.
“Isnot real!” Rowan countered. “Mars!”
“You can’t go to Mars, silly,” Jamie corrected with a nose-wrinkle. “Mystic Falls?”
Stiles and Peter exchanged a long look. They would both rather fly to Mars than ever return to Mystic Falls. Last time Stiles’ cousin had convinced them to come by for a family visit, they had to break up a fight between hybrids and vampires, just because Stiles’ cousin-in-law was a right smug bastard (never mind that Peter and Klaus had gotten along fantastically, the man had the tendency to rub people the wrong way in quite the same manner as Peter did).
“Camelot sounds doable,” Stiles nodded slowly. “Family vacation to England it is.”
Peter cupped his mate’s face, making Stiles look back at him. For a moment, Peter just got lost in those honey-whiskey eyes, before he leaned in to place a gentle kiss on Stiles’ lips. The Spark practically melted against Peter at the softness of their kiss, sighing contently.
“Two weeks in England it is, love,” Peter promised.
“And the bubble bath and the massage!” Stiles poked Peter in the chest. “Also I am fairly sure you now owe your sister an actual shopping trip. Because I called her. That’s how I found out.”
Peter made a face at that. He supposed he deserved it though, as punishment for lying to his husband. Jamie took his hand and pulled Peter along, barely giving Peter the time to turn off the light and close the door of his office, happy to leave work behind for now. For his family.
The amazing, wonderful, sweet and talented @iamaslutforjatp made this shiny moodboard for my upcoming fic (to be posted on July 16th) and I figured that a snipped of the fic ought to go along with the moodboard so here you go:
The night was made cozier by the storm outside. There was something so comforting about being warm at home with his family while the rain was hitting the windows hard and lightning periodically lit up the sky. They’d spent another two or so hours here, together, before closing up and then Chris would get to drag his husband upstairs.
Peter had been in a mood all day, ever since they’d seen some pretty boy at the restaurant during lunch. He’d drawn Chris’ attention at the obscene moan the boy gave when first biting into his burger and then Chris had stared to watch wide-eyed how the boy sucked sauce off his long fingers, plush, pink lips wrapped around the digits. It had been… an inspiring show, for sure. But it had gotten under Peter’s skin even more because, apparently, the boy smelt absolutely delectable. Wolves relied a lot on scent and scent was a big part of attraction for them. The way Peter talked about sweet honey and sharp lightning made him sound like a starved man describing his last meal.
The boy had finished lunch before them and left though and Peter hadn’t been able to catch his scent so they could drag him back to their place and have him for dessert. It wouldn’t be the first time Chris and Peter found a twink to share. Alas, the pretty boy had escaped them, which put Peter into a mood, torn between arousal and frustration. Chris was more than happy to help out with that.
Chris was startled out of his thoughts by the bar’s door opening. Cold, harsh wind blew rain in as a lanky figure ducked into the bar, the hood of a red hoodie drawn deep. Slowly, Chris put the glass he’d been cleaning down. The bickering pack around him quieted down too.
The bar wasn’t exclusive to the pack, but it was unusual to have customers walk in during that kind of weather, at this time during a weekday. And being a pack of werewolves, they tended to be careful and wary about these things. It could always be a threat coming to harm Chris’ wolves.
“Oh my gods, it’s warm and dry,” the person groaned, pushing the hood off. “Fuck yeah.”
Chris stared wide-eyed at the pretty boy. Soaking wet, his dark hair flat against his head, looking a bit like a sad kitten that got into the rain. His pale cheeks rosy from the cold and pink lips slick with rain. The biggest possible doe-eyes were staring around the bar while the boy took off his dripping wet hoodie. The white shirt he was wearing under his hoodie was wetly clinging to his skin, tracing a lithe definition and showing off rosy, tempting nipples that poked hard from the cold against the shirt. His already skinny-jeans seemed painted on due to the rainwater too. Chris was not a teenager anymore, he should not get half-hard just from such a simple visual. And then the boy stuck his tongue out and licked the rainwater off his lips. No, Chris was apparently not strong enough for this.
“My, my. What brings Little Red Hood into an establishment like this?” Peter asked.
His voice was a purr and he was leaning against the pool table, hip cocked and drawing attention to his legs and crotch. Chris heaved a sigh at his husband, but he also went ahead and started making a tea for the wet and certainly cold boy.
“Bringing cake and wine to my grandma,” the boy quipped back and rolled his eyes. “Mostly I am looking for the dry and the warm, but I’m also looking for the mechanic. I was told at the gas station that the best mechanic in town is next door to the bar and could be found inside the bar at all times. Which is. A bit concerning, in my opinion, but hey. Who am I to question things.”
“Congratulations, you found the best mechanic in the county,” Peter proclaimed delighted.
“And the most humble one too,” Chris noted dryly.
It earned him a soft giggle from the boy, cheeks turning even rosier. The wet kitten patted over to the bar and tentatively sat down on a barstool. Peter followed right behind and sat down next to the boy, close next to the boy. Chris put a hot cup of tea down in front of him and the boy immediately latched onto it with both hands, giving a blissful little moan. Mh, Chris wouldn’t mind drawing more of those out of the pretty kitty.
I really love how this scene turned out so have a sneak peek to Partnered Shoot, my upcoming Deuc/Chris/Peter/Stiles Neckz 'n Throats oneshot, to be posted on February 26th:
Stiles put a hand on Peter’s chest and swung one leg over the man’s lap so he could straddle him. For a moment, Peter looked surprised, then amused. Stiles slowly pushed his hand up Peter’s chest, until he could curl his fingers into the man’s dark hair. Once he had a good grip, he pulled on it, pulling Peter’s head back and forcibly baring the wolf’s throat.
“Careful, darling,” Peter’s voice was rough and his eyes flashed red.
“Those are pretty, but they don’t scare me,” Stiles grinned mischievously, getting lost in the Alpha’s red eyes. “And you’ll find that I can put any Alpha on their knees, if I want to.”
He leaned in and then licked a slow stripe up Peter’s bared neck. The wolf growled, not a warning but something much more primal. A sound Stiles had gotten from Deuc in the past too. Alphas loved being challenged. Most people mistakenly thought that Alphas would seek demure and pliant partners, who’d be quick to cower and submit. In Stiles’ experience, Alphas loved to be challenged. They wanted to earn their partner’s submission, to show they deserved it. Prove their worth as an Alpha. Presenting a challenge to them worked so much better than readily submitting right away.
Peter’s hands found their way to Stiles’ waist, gripping him tighter than earlier and then easily flipping them both over. Stiles gasped when he hit the couch and his grin grew when he saw the hungry look on Peter’s face as the Alpha loomed over him like that. One of Peter’s hands was slowly slipping from Stiles’ waist to briefly cup his ass and then wander over his thigh, adjusting Stiles’ leg so it was wrapped around Peter’s waist, while Peter’s other hand quickly and easily pinned both of Stiles’ wrists above Stiles’ head. His breath hitched before picking up, because fuck, that was hot. The display of strength, the easy way in which Peter seemed able to maneuver Stiles just the way he liked him. Tilting his head, Stiles decided to also wrap his other leg around Peter’s waist, using them both to draw Peter closer. The wolf gladly obeyed.
“Oh, sweetheart, you may be a delightful little spitfire, but you don’t put me on my knees,” Peter whispered darkly, his smile showing fangs. “I will have you begging to be on your knees for me.”
Okay, unreasonably hot. Stiles felt arousal stir in him, heat flushing his skin. He bit his lip and dragged it through his teeth, aware of Peter’s heated gaze on the motion. Peter leaned in closer, their crotches brushing and the wolf’s hand on his thigh squeezing tighter.
“But they do know this is a soft porn shoot, right?” Erica asked startled. “Because they look like they’re two seconds from actively fucking on that couch. Which, I would not object to watching.”
“You know,” Lydia said casually. “I appreciate that you got over your crush on me, Stiles. This would have been… so much harder if you kept making heart-eyes at me. Jackson’s been the jealous type even before he became a werewolf, but now he is…”
“Territorial,” Stiles offered with a chuckle. “Yeah, I feel like him turning into a werewolf did a lot in the me getting over you. I know my crush couldn’t compare to a mate-bond.”
Derek was glad that none of the wolves were in the room to hear the surprised jump of his heart. How did Stiles know about mate-bonds? He lifted his gaze carefully off the selection, watching Stiles, even as Stiles kept his focus on Lydia. Derek also noted that Stiles wasn’t lying, he was over his feelings for Lydia. Derek tried not to think about the way that made him feel.
“Mates?” Lydia echoed, raising her eyebrows. “What do you mean?”
“Oh, come on,” Stiles groaned and tilted his head back, before staring dead ahead at Derek. “Don’t tell me you still haven’t had the bees and birds talk with the puppies!”
Knowing the answer and not even waiting for Derek to say anything, Stiles simply barreled on. “Mates, you know, like… like soulmates. But… not in the cheesy trope-y way of names written on your skin or whatever. Just… a perfect match, I guess? I think that wolves actually feel it though. Scott and Allison are mates. That’s how I got onto that track to begin with, like, there was just no other way to explain them, and everything they did for each other. You can only excuse so much with rampant teen hormones. And yeah, Allison is Scott’s anchor, which I guess is like another word for mates when it refers to a person instead of a thing or emotion. She grounds him, his love for her allows him to focus on his wolf. The same way that you allowed Jackson to regain control, back then. Because you’re his anchor. You’re his mate.”
For the first time since Derek knew her, Lydia actually looked surprised and like she had encountered something that she had not expected. Derek’s attention shifted to Stiles though.
“It’s not another word for mate,” Derek whispered. “Anchor. Your anchor doesn’t have to be your mate, you don’t need a mate to have an anchor. Parents, siblings, friends, they can be anchors too.”
“Oh,” Stiles blinked, like he hadn’t expected for Derek to give any input at all, before he cracked a big smile. “But the rest is right? Did I do the right research?”
Slowly, Derek nodded. “Perfect match is… right, in a sense. We don’t… know the moment we meet someone that they’re ‘the one’, if that’s what you mean. A perfect match is something forged. You can have multiple mates throughout our life, my aunt, she lost her first mate years before the fire, but she fell in love again and forged a new mate-bond.”
“Okay,” Stiles furrowed his brows curiously. “Then what makes a perfect match?”
“Mutual devotion,” Derek could hear the words spoken by his mom, when she had explained this to him as a young boy. “A mate isn’t just someone perfect for you, it’s about… what you are willing to do for each other, support each other, help each other, make each other better. This mutual devotion to one another is what forges a mate-bond.”
“Mh,” Lydia blinked, repeatedly. “I suppose… that does apply to us. We are devoted to each other. Even through the worst of it, even when he was awful to me, even when I was awful to him.”
“You are,” Derek offered in a soft voice. “Mates, I mean. Wolves can smell it on each other and on claimed mates. And Stiles is also right about Scott and Allison. Which… is why I cut him as much slack as I did. I knew why he was so obsessed with the youngest member of the Argent family.”
Stiles hummed in understanding, looking at Derek. Mates. Derek swallowed hard as puzzle pieces started to fall into place in a way he had so far tried to ignore. But having this conversation, and looking at Stiles during it, it became impossible to deny. Over the past year, they had helped each other, saved each other’s lives, fought side by side. And now, for the past month, Stiles had helped Derek truly build his pack, strengthen his pack. Bringing Erica and Boyd back to him, forcing Derek to confront Jackson, whom he had avoided out of guilt because if Derek hadn’t bitten him to begin with, Jackson would have never turned into the kanima and had to go through all that trauma, he had genuinely thought that Jackson wouldn’t want to be a part of this pack. But it seemed that Jackson had needed as much of a push as Derek. And that was one thing Stiles excelled in; pushing. With Jackson came Lydia, of course. Mates. And now, suddenly, Derek’s small pack of three betas who kept snarling at him had turned into a much happier pack of five betas and one Stiles.
Which, perhaps, was another reason why Derek had kept putting this realization off. Stiles was undeniably pack, he had been here every single day to rebuild the pack house, to bond with Derek and the betas, yet Derek could never bring himself to think of Stiles as a beta. At first, he pretended that this was because Stiles wasn’t a wolf, was a human. But he didn’t have the same qualms with Lydia, he considered Jackson’s mate one of his betas. It was the way Stiles went about things that made him different from everyone else. Providing food and moral support for the betas, keeping them together, mediating between them, and between them and their Alpha, taking charge, at Derek’s side by making Derek find a place to live, start renovating the house, change his training methods with the betas. That wasn’t the kind of behavior a beta would be allowed to get away with. That was the behavior of an Alpha mate, the co-leader of the pack, the heart of the pack.
Stiles Stilinski was the Alpha mate of the Hale Pack. And Derek had no idea what to do with that.

Technically I can't ban you from writing more 😉 But also admit what you spun
"can't ban", you are a horrible, awful enabler and I got a line I OF COURSE couldn't resist I am a weak Steter girl first and a human second. I got: Peter's day at the office. And you KNOW my weakness for lawyer!Peter + secretary!Stiles.

Peter smiled when he entered his law firm. He used to go to work with a glower, but that changed ever since he hired his new assistant. Not only was the boy so pretty to look at that it lifted his mood, no, Stiles was terrifyingly effective in everything he did. Clever little thing with frightening connections who could organize and get anything he set his mind onto. He had made Peter’s work – and his life, quite frankly – so much easier since he entered it.
“Good morning, Mister Hale,” Stiles smiled at him. “I have your schedule prepared for you when you’re ready. There were some… changes. You will approve.”
“Good morning, Stiles,” Peter tried not to sound too smitten. “I’m sure I will. And how often have I asked you to call me Peter?”
“Every day since I started working here,” Stiles chuckled. “But you’re my boss. I’m going to keep calling you Mister Hale on the clock, sir.”
Peter tilted his head, his eyes dark with intrigue. “So I’ll get you to call me Peter off the clock?”
The professional smile on Stiles’ lips slipped and his big doe-eyes blinked at Peter. “W… What?”
“If I were to take you out for dinner, would you call me Peter?” Peter leaned against Stiles’ desk.
A pretty blush bloomed on Stiles’ cheeks, lashes fluttering as he kept blinking at Peter. “A… Are you serious? Because you’re a big flirt and it feels like breathing to you and I don’t want to misunderstand-”
“Nothing to misunderstand, Stiles,” Peter looked at Stiles with all the sincerity and adoration he felt for him. “My wolf has liked you since you started working for me. It isn’t just flirting. Not for me.”
Stiles’ breath hitched and his heart raced in a pitter-patter-pattern. “Oh. Uhm. I… Unless my boss has any special errands for me, I should be done by seven today. And I’d be free for dinner.”
Peter’s smile was all sharp teeth at that. “Perfect. Please put a very important dinner date onto my schedule for seven and I’ll be sure your boss won’t have any special errands for you to run today.”
“Will do, Mister Hale,” Stiles called after him when Peter entered his office.
Peter paused in the doorway into his office for a moment and turned to look at Stiles one last time. “I’ll have you call me Peter by tonight, Stiles.”
There was a teasing, mischievous look on Stiles’ face. “If you play your cards right, I’ll still be calling you ‘sir’ by the end of the night though.”
Peter barked out a laugh at that. Oh, this boy was simply perfect for him.
Peter [legally changed and thus redacted] Hale was dying.
He’d already died once before, so he knew what it felt like. Yet somehow, this death was even worse and more cruel than the last time. And the last time, he’d been set on fire by one of the loves of his life. So one could imagine just how agonizing his current situation was.
“You’re not dying, baby.”
Despite the pain, Peter mustered a smile as he turned toward the beautiful source of that voice. “My, darling, are you finally craving and using petnames too?”
“No,” Stiles snorted and rolled his eyes. “I am calling you a literal baby. You’re not dying, you have a common cold, Peter. There are toddlers who can handle this kind of thing better than you. You’re a fifty year old man-“
“Forty-four. We agreed not to count the coma years,” Peter pouted.
Another sarcastic eye-roll from his cruel mate. Why did this boy live to torment him? There was a deep, dark chuckle in the background and then there was Peter’s other mate in all his handsome glory. Mh, how much Peter wanted to run his fingers through that silver beard, if only his limbs didn’t feel like they weighted a ton.
“Cut him some slack, sugar. He’s never been sick before, born werewolf and all.”
Stiles turned to give Chris a long-suffering glare. “I was cutting him all of the slack the first three days, but there is a limit to my kindness. In fact, I do not have kindness to spare, so that was already more than anyone should ask of me, including the two of you.”
Chris gave Stiles a look that was so warm and filled with love, before he pulled their boy close enough to kiss him and that was just unfair. Beyond the incurable condition of dying, Peter was also cruelly forbidden from kissing his mates. He made a soft whining noise.
“Baby,” Stiles muttered with another eye-roll.
“That’s it. I am kicking you both out of my home and calling Melissa. At least she has bedside manner.”
Stiles stared at him like Peter had lost his mind. “That woman once sedated me without my consent because I hadn’t slept enough. I love her to death, but her bedside manner is shit.”
“Besides, I’m still fairly sure she would use the opportunity to get rid of you,” Chris muttered.
“And end my suffering? Yes, please!”
“Why is he so dramatic?” Stiles asked, looking at Chris while motioning at Peter. “Why is he like this?”
“Dalia signed him up for theater class as soon as he could walk,” Chris shrugged. “Blame her.”
“Gonna have a séance just so I can bitch at my dead mother-in-law about her dramatic-ass son…”
“Mother-in-law,” Peter repeated with a soft, happy grin.
A gay three-way-marriage was not in the stars for them, but both of Peter’s mates recognized their sealed matebond for what it was; ‘werewolf marriage’. Peter had found the term insufferable the first year or so that Stiles had used it but after their mating ceremony, the first time he’d heard Stiles refer to him as ‘husband’, Peter grew more and more fond of it.
“C’mon, wolf,” Chris’ voice was gentle. “Up you go, I have tea and broth for you. You need fluids.”
There was a significant silence, while Peter struggled to sit up, and once he was upright, Stiles was gently brushing his hair back and looking at him with the most concerned frown.
“Okay, you are in real bad condition. There wasn’t a dirty joke at Chris offering you fluids,” Stiles whispered softly. “Eat your broth and then back to sleep with you.”
Peter obediently let Chris feed him the broth and he found himself eternally grateful for his mates. He would be in no condition to cook anything for himself right now, but here his mates were, taking care of him while he was dying a horrible death.
“You. Are. Not. Dying. Baby,” Stiles repeated once again, poking Peter in the chest after each word. “It’s your own fault, honestly. Why do you stupid oversized puppies have to run off into unmapped parts of the preserve? Flowers and fae are not to be messed with. You guys are lucky that the fae flowers’ pollen only act like a cold, it could be so much worse.”
Had Stiles learned how to read minds? Or was Peter suffering from the same ill side-effect as Stiles whenever he was sick? Where his thoughts didn’t stay in his head but fled out of his mouth without his consent…? Peter wrinkled his nose at that.
“Impossible,” Peter protested, slumping against Stiles. “The rest of the pack is dying too?”
Stiles snorted, but he wrapped a comforting arm around Peter to hold him close. “Lydia has Jackson covered, Allison is taking care of Isaac, Melissa is dealing with Scott, Erica and Boyd are being taken care of by their parents too, Kira is tending to Malia, while Chris and I are pulling triple duty dealing with all you Hales. I’d like the record to show that Cora is the bravest Hale who is handling this with the most grace.”
“Thank you, Stiles,” Cora croaked out from some other part of the Hale House.
“I’d like to amend the record that she is the bravest of you Hales, specifically,” Chris pointed out. “All the turned betas are doing just fine, they know what a cold is.”
Stiles snickered. “Nah, Jackson is being nearly as dramatic as Peter, according to Lydia.”
“That checks out,” Chris nodded solemnly. “Sometimes, it feels like they are related.”
“I did a DNA test, he’s not the father,” Stiles shrugged at the look Chris gave him. “What? You’re not the first one to think that. They are both arrogant, snarky pretty boys who tend to be too dramatic. And Jackson was adopted. So I had to make sure we’re not stepdads to any more pack-members beyond Malia.”
Chris snorted out a laugh and brought Stiles in close enough to kiss. It was so rude of them to rub their affection on Peter’s face like that while he was bound to the bed (and not in the fun way) and forbidden from kissing his mates so he couldn’t pass this death sentence on to them.
“Scoot over, Dramawolf,” Stiles sighed in defeat. “You may not get kisses, but you’ll get cuddles. Will that appease you?”
“Mh,” Peter immediately pulled Stiles close enough so he could bury his nose in Stiles’ neck. “I feel appeased.”
Chris chuckled and slipped in on Peter’s other side, wrapping his strong, comforting arms around Peter’s waist and pulling the wolf against his chest. Yes, Peter was feeling very appeased.
Peter [legally changed and thus redacted] Hale was dying. But at least he wasn’t dying alone and had his mates tend to him on his deathbed.
“You’re not dying, Dramawolf!” Stiles exclaimed in utter exasperation. “And we all know your middle name is Wermund!”
