So, first off, you need to know that it's SUPER easy to get Anna Hackett's books because you can get many of them free including a box set if you sign up for her newsletter. And you will want to sign up for her newsletter. Most of her books are self-pub and it's because she can get them out to us readers who want to devour them even faster. She also makes quite a few available through Kindle Unlimited, usually for the first few weeks it comes out, but sometimes longer. Her website is here: http://annahackettbooks.com/
More under the cut because I got a touch wordy. =P
I have not been so happy to discover an author well into many series as I was to find Anna Hackett. She's been writing for some time, but I only discovered her about a year or so ago and it was due to a novella that came up in my BookBub daily email as a free download. Among Galactic Ruins was the first book I read and it felt like I could not hunt down and download the rest of her available books fast enough. Her characters are so real and the stories just flow. You get dragged in and you never want them to end. While I've read most of her stuff, I'm only going into more detail on a few of the series so you can get an idea of what she's got available. I recommend checking out her site and seeing if there is something that tickles your fancy. I don’t know about you, but I love having my fancy tickled.
Her flagship (if you will) series is Hell Squad. Here is the description from her site...
"In the aftermath of a deadly alien invasion, a band of survivors fights on… Join Marcus Steele and the toughest commando team fighting for humanity’s survival—Hell Squad. Battle-hardened soldiers, men and women who never give up. Heroes will rise…when they have someone to live for."
This series is fantastic. They are quick reads and they keep getting better and better as the series moves on. You can read them individually, but it's really for the best if you read them all and in order. While each story has a resolution, it does further the overall timeline. Don't be intimidated by the fact that there are already 10 and she's got dates for 11 and 12 because you will FLY through them. The stories move quickly, but very emotionally. I think I'm still not over Holmes. Also, while it does start out the focus on the Hell Squad it does branch out to the other teams and other people involved in the fight and I can hardly wait for certain people's books because they are going to ROCK!
Then you have the future space-faring series of Phoenix Adventures described as...
"In the distant future, the artifacts from Earth's past...are the lost treasures of the galaxy. Meet the galaxy's most infamous treasure hunters: the Phoenix Brothers."
Much like Hell Squad, the start of the series is on the Phoenix Brothers, but eventually expands to include their cousins. This is kind of like Indiana Jones in space. There is treasure hunting and archaeology and space battles and alien worlds and man, just lots and lots of fun people to meet and cheer on as they hunt for treasure. Again, this series is up to book 10, but they are mostly short novels or novellas so you can catch up quickly and join people like me who check email daily in the hopes that Anna has put up another one on Amazon.
She's recently also started two different series that I've been sucked into. One is Adventure/Suspense and the other is Action/Sci-fi
Treasure Hunter Security "Finding undiscovered treasures is always daring, dangerous, and deadly. Perfect for the men of Treasure Hunter Security. Join the former Navy SEALs turned security specialists as they head off on adventures to protect dangerous archeological digs, daring expeditions and wild, deadly treasure hunts."
Galactic Gladiators "Fighting for love, honor, and freedom on the galaxy's lawless outer rim. Join gladiator Raiden Tiago and the toughest gladiators of the House of Galen as they fight to protect the fierce women they love on the blood-soaked sands of the Kor Magna Arena."
I've read all of these series and a couple others, but now I'm on a quest to find all her Avon/Silhouette books as well because she wrote quite a few Nocturne Bites which are more paranormal.
Weekend getaway to Phoenix Arizona The temperature was already at 85 degrees at the terminal while I was walking through to get my rental car and head out to find a quick bite to eat. Fortunately, someone told me about the new Burger Theory joint close to the airport, so I was able to find it a few minutes away and find a seat quickly. Burger Theory was a nice spot to unwind and cool off before I…
