Series: Final Fantasy : Crystal Chronicals

I cannot tell you HOW many years I waited to be able to make this costume! I had wanted to cosplay this series with friends since I played it in middle school, and I finally got to once I was in my late 20's! My friend group and city had changed by then, but my love of the game hasn't lol.

Purple is a cotton I've held onto forever, tan used on the bodice is a thin rayon with a gauze like texture to it if you look close enough. I trimmed it with the same brown faux suede I used on the skirt. For the underbust X I used thin black elastic, and for the overbust it's actually a black shoelace! I didn't want it flat and I couldn't find elastic cording as thick as I wanted. The back properly laces up, though I'd like to go back and add some boning for extra structure.

The skirt has black shorts sewn underneath and the button "lacing" is dark brown elastic that's been tacked in place. The ankle wraps are painted squares of fabric that are wrapped with a spandex band to hold it in place. The headpiece is wired ribbon that was in a silver criss-cross pattern. I gathered it at the corners and used hot glue and paint to add the gold detailing.

I made the Butterfly Head Cudgel bc it was the most aesthetically pleasing lol. I love the Selkies' play style, but their weapons are the ugliest for sure lmfao.

It's a PVC pipe wrapped with a muslin strip for the main handle. The head is made of varying thicknesses of foam and dremeled for detailing. The butterfly wings are clear file folders that I cut and painted with markers and sharpie. I used suede cording as some detail wrap too. It broke off in photos, but the end piece is a doorknob lmfao.

The journal cover is craftfoam and cardstock with wire, ribbon, and broken jewelry bits I added for texture and interest. I'm actually not very happy with it bc it was so rushed. I may remake it in the future, idk.

I also made a phoenix down out of air dry clay. I love it! but its sooo delicate..

I was inspired by the end scene with Nightwing and Danny sitting on the couch after Danny just saved him in Chapter 4. It feels like an important moment between them when Danny reveals himself to be a halfa, so I made a little gif of it too (though it's a bit fast 🙃).

The author's own art is awesome and always invests me in the story more. This work is so well written and I look forward to any future updates.

Potions are weird and wonderful things. the game wouldn't be the same without them. I posted some pictures of various curatives a while ago (here and here) but the list was not complete. I've tried to photograph the rest of them. Unfortunately I could not get a photograph of Gold Needle. If I've missed any out please let me know! Phoenix Down - This is very recognisable as a fiery feather and can be spotted in most shops. Mega Phoenix - A longer fiery feather than phoenix down that raises the entire party.

Antidote - Another recognisable curative that can be spotted in the tent and various shops

Remedy - A flat bottle with a label that reads "antidote"

Smelling Salts - A bottle almost identical to antidote but without the three rings on the top

Magitek Booster - A black canister with pink and yellow grip

Muscle Stimulant - A black canister with a red grip

Reflex Enhancer - A black canister with blue and red grip

Maiden's Kiss - An unusual shaped pink bottle with gold top and tip
