So, did it ever occur to anyone that - maybe - the Phoenix Stone was created on the grounds of a dead Phoenix?
Alright, let me walk you through this so nobody gets lost:
In TVD Universe, it's established that monsters of the unique variety, the mythical/fairytale/folklore kind of creatures, existed long before werewolves and vampires.
So, assuming you already know about the Brotherhood of the Five and Rayna Cruz, you should also be aware of the Phoenix Stone embedded in her trusty Phoenix Sword.
But I recall a few people on Tumblr realizing that there's something familiar between Rayna's phoenix-like abilities and Legacies' very own Phoenix, Landon Kirby.
And then, common sense hit me:
The legend of the Phoenix has always been around, in many cultures all over the world. And some are no more worth noting than Native American culture.
We know the story: Rayna Cruz went to 8 Native American shamans for her quest to hunt vampires after her father's death by Julian's hands. In the process of enchanting her small sword, they enchanted the stone and gave their lives to her cause.
Now, I've been thinking. Of course, we may never know exactly where this happened, but it made me wonder: What if there was more to it than just the lives of the shamans that gave her power?
My headcanon: If the death of a witch marks the location as a magical hotspot, what would happen if the same could be said for the location of a Phoeniz when they die?
Just think about it: The idea of one sole entity, existing in variations across the world (possibly just one person who dies or passes on the mantle to a sole child). Regardless of when Malivore gets its hands on it, the fact Native American tribes have legends on it means it existed long enough to be remembered somehow.
What if the ground the shamans chose to do the spell was marked with a Phoenix's death and rebirth? Fuel that with their own lives and fire symbolism? It would make complete sense that doing a ritual as sophisticated as that on the ground as something so legendary as a Phoenix would get certain results!
i’m rewatching season 7 of tvd and realised that nora and mary louise said rayna chased them through europe throughout the 18th century ... but rayna wasn’t even born until the 19th century ... does this bother anyone else ???? the plot holes are honestly astounding
Okay, so Rayna Cruz had phoenix abilities, right?
Coming back from the dead via fire - ya know?
So, why does she resurrect naked but Actual-Phoenix Landon Kirby doesn't? It's true bullshit, that.
Oh, and does this mean Landon could've had a connection to the Phoenix Stone??
