Mirel Wagner wins the Phonofile Nordic Music Prize

Mirel Wagner was announced as the winner of the 2014 Phonofile Nordic Music Prize for her album When The Cellar Children See The Light Of Day.

The Phonofile Nordic Music Prize is an annual award for the Best Nordic Album Of The Year, awarded during by:Larm conference in Norway, the most important conference and showcase event for the Nordic music industry.

Mirel Wagner takes homes 30.000NOK sponsored by GramArt.

This year’s runners up were Selvhenter (DK) - Motions of Large Bodies and Iceage (DK) - Plowing Into The Field Of Love.

“The winner and the two honourable mentions are all fully-realised albums and strong artistic statements. They're intense and alive in different ways, full on and quite overwhelming.” said the jury panel.

The winner and runners up were selected from a group of 12 nominees:

This marks the first time a Finnish album has received the award, breaking Sweden’s dominance for the last three years. Previous winners of the prize include Jónsi (2010), Goran Kajfeš (2011) , First Aid Kit (2012) and The Knife (2015).

Phonofile Nordic Music Prize is organized by Phonofile, by:Larm, GramArt, Music Norway, Oslo Business Region and the Norwegian Minsitry of Foreign Affairs.

INTRODUCING THE NOMINEES FOR PHONOFILE NORDIC MUSIC PRIZE

The Phonofile Nordic Music Prize is an annual award for the Best Nordic Album Of The Year, inspired by the British & Irish Mercury Prize and introduced in 2010. The prize was initiated by by:Larm in Norway, the most important conference and showcase event for the wider Nordic music industry. Former winners are Jónsi (ICE), Goran Kajfes (SE), First Aid Kit (SE), and most recently The Knife (SE).

We are happy to announce the collaboration between Phonofile, by:Larm, GramArt and Music Norway as sponsors for by:Larm’s well renowned music prize. The winner will receive a NOK 30.000 check, provided by GramArt.
