Pici - Temporary Score: 4
Description: Very thick, irregular and long hand-rolled pasta; the name means "to stick"; unclear what it will "to stick" to
First Take Points: 2 - meh. this is spaghetti only thicker. as long as you cook it to your preferred mouth feel, it has a slight leg up on spaghetti, just beause of the slight irregularities in thickness. for a long pasta, it does "to stick to" the sauce pretty nicely.
Remix Bonus Points: 1 - i would sub this in for spaghetti in.... spaghetti. but that's about it. unelss, i dunno, i guess i could break it up into some short bits, could be fun. with mini meatballs, i just now decided.
Amusement Points: 2 - i am charmed by the name, and the fact that it is hand-rolled. it feels like i could make it on my own? of course i couldn't, but it's close enough to make me think it's possible, and that's lovely.
Annoyance Deductions: -1 - it take 14.4 days to cook. on average. also, altho i'm sure you could find it somewhere non-dried, the package i got was dried, and they are dried in these bird's nest pasta piles which seems like it should be cute but somehow get tangled with each other, and then little bits are breaking off the end and you're like, do i just fill this pot full of pasta nests and hope for the best? you know what....
Alternative Uses: PASTA NEST. also, when cooked, this screams "vine for a miniature Tarzan or George of the Jungle to swing around on".
