Back to the Japanese/Korean fusion stall at the coffee shop for their bento. Mum took the pan-fried Saba Fish Bento with rice, kimchi and shredded cabbages. My Teriyaki Chicken & Saba Fish Bento has fried chicken cutlet drizzled in teriyaki sauce and a section of blue mackerel or Japanese mackerel with rice, pickled vegetable and mayonnaise.

#2390: Nissin Rice Vermicelli Pickled Vegetable Pork Flavour - Hong Kong

Finished (click to enlarge). Added chashu pork. The rice vermicelli was a little chewier than most. Not in a bad way - just a little surprised. The broth was very nice. It had a good kind of pork taste to it and a creamy color like a form of tonkotsu. The pickled vegetable component's mustard greens went very well with it. 3.75 out of 5.0 stars. My family enjoyed the bento sets at this Japanese/Korean fusion stall so we patronized often. The Saba Fish Bento is for mum and sis took the Saba Fish & Chicken Bento while I had the Teriyaki Chicken & Saba Fish Bento. All bento came with white rice with either kimchi or pickled vegetable.

Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) is mum go-to haunt when she wants home style cooked food. I enjoy watching travel shows that also included local cuisine like Taiwan with their night markets and street food. I aways see people eating braised pork rice so here it is, Hakka-Style Braised Meat Rice (客家卤肉饭). This S$9.50 bowl is topped with diced fatty and lean braised pork, a whole braised egg, pickled cucumber slices and sauerkraut. The rice is flavoured with the braising sauce and each scoop leave your lips with sticky collagen. Paired my dinner with a glass of cold Brown Sugar Caramel Milk Tea (焦糖奶茶) that is much cheaper (S$3.40) than those selling at bubble tea stalls.

The problem with mum is that she is not keen to try out new dishes. Here, she is sticking to the usual S$12.80 bowl of Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). A juicy and succulent piece of pork chop sits atop handmade wavy noodles with a firm and slightly chewy texture. She also loves the pickled crisp cucumber slices at the corner of the bowl.

Took the public bus to Northpoint City at Yishun Central to have dinner and do some light grocery shopping. Walked to our usual haunt at Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) which has two units on opposite side of the food street. At the time when other businesses are scaling down or closing, they are doing the exact opposite which is expanding. Anyway, we came early to avoid the peak hours dinner crowds. Mum order her bowl of Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). Dry style handmade wavy and wide noodles in savoury sauce topped with a succulent piece of pan-fried porkchop and pickled cucumber slices.

I am more of a rice person, so I went for the Sunrise Crispy Chicken Cutlet Rice (日出鸡腿排饭). Served in a large blue porcelain bowl with the chicken cutlet occupying half the space. A portion of jasmine rice drizzled with braised minced pork gravy and an over easy egg on top. The savoury boneless chicken drumstick is crispy outside, yet juicy inside but not greasy. Come with two sides of pickled cucumber and vegetable to cleanse the palate.

My mum like this restaurant so we often patronize Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”) at Northpoint City. On a late weekend afternoon, we are here for our early dinner. Ordered a cup (S$3.20+) of cold Taiwanese Roselle Tea (台湾洛神花茶) to quench my thirst while waiting for our meals to be served.

Mum is not keen to try the other dishes on the menu so she just sticks to her S$12.80+ bowl of Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面). A large piece of pan-fried pork chop covered the entire blue porcelain bowl with a side of pickled cucumbers and spring onions for garnish.

Normally I would prefer rice dish for dinner but this time I went for the Feng Food Deluxe Dry Noodles (丰味干拌面). I chose the handmade Guan Miao Mian (关庙面) which cost a dollar extra at S$14.80+. It looks just like mum’s dinner but in an even bigger bowl with an extra fried egg, braised pork and pickled vegetables.

One of mum’s favourite dining outlet in Northpoint City is Feng Food (台湾味 “丰”). And this Guan Miao Mian with Specially Marinated Pork Chop (猪排关庙面) is her must order dish. She loves the springy and chewy handmade wavy noodles and that juicy pan-fried pork chop.

I had the limited Sunrise Crispy Chicken Cutlet Rice (日出鸡腿排饭) though I have never encountered them being sold out. Love that big piece of crispy boneless chicken leg paired with an over easy egg. The rice is drizzled with the gravy from the braised pork and refreshing pickled cucumber and vegetable for the sides.
