"If you wanna know the Pavlovian Response PSAs/PIFs have had on me, I cannot listen to "Body II Body" by Samantha Mumba without internally wincing or "Wise Up" by Aimee Mann without seeing imagining someone try to button up a shirt painstakingly slow because he was involved in a speeding accident. I cannot think of Pee Wee Herman without thinking of him saying "This is crack. Rock cocaine. It isn't glamourous or cool or kids' stuff". I had a period where I HATED the song "The 12 Days of Christmas" because of an anti-drink driving PIF. I am TEMPTED to say "This is your brain on drugs" when making eggs. I can't even listen to "When Johnny Met June" without thinking of the Sandy Hook Promise PSA "Evan". All that aside, I LOVE the PSA community. Zac R, HelloImAPizza, Sweet Disaster, Antonia the Sheep, Love the PIF, Back to the Past, RE: ADS, etc. etc.
Asking my parents if they remember the “Charlie Says” PIFs of the early 70s and instead of replying they both just made strange cat noises at me.
SPCA ads in the countries that have them be like
ASPCA (America): Look at all these poor animals we’ve rescued! They were in horrible places but we were able to help them! If you donate we can save even more!
RSPCA (Australia): Hi we’re the RSPCA! We help all animals great and small (tm). If you donate, we will rescue lots of animals that need it :)
RSPCA (UK): WATCH THIS FUCKING DOG DIE. PEOPLE ABUSE ANIMALS ALL THE TIME. THIS GUY THREW HIS DOG IN A CANAL. WE NEED YOUR MONEY OR WE’LL KILL THIS DOG OURSELVES.
Talk about horrific UK PSAs - here's one aimed at preventing knife crime, which takes the form of a lecture on how to treat stab wounds. Apparently it was web-based only, which makes sense, since it features real photos of knife wounds and gore. Actually really fascinating, but wouldn't want to have it pop up unexpectedly.
why is it that women named julie always die in british PIFs
I didn't realise that there's actually full length PIFs for Play Safe and Powerful Stuff!! They aren't particularly disturbing, at least not as a whole, but they are super interesting to watch!!
Talking about scary PSAs: The one that always fucked me up as a kid was the wee girl who has been hit by a car and it slowly reverses her injuries (bones snapping back in place etc) while her wee child voice goes "If you hit me at 40mph, there's a 80% chance I'll die. But if you hit me at 30mph, there's a 80% chance I'll live.
Horrid.

Ahh the infamous Hit Me At 30! As a kid I was actually fascinated by this advert, I just thought it was so interesting to see her knit herself back together and get up xD It's definitely the one most people think of if they're around about our age group, I remember it being a very big deal at the time.
Apparently, there are two versions! One for before the watershed, and one for after. I can't find any videos comparing the differences between the two though, or even any that are different to the version I recognise, so although I assume as a kid I saw the pre-watershed version, I don't actually know how it theoretically differed from the post-watershed one. I'm assuming less or no blood effects?
